The material was formed by 386 serioangiograms in patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage, intracerebral haemorrhage, focal epilepsy and unilateral headache. It was revealed that from the total number of mentioned diagnoses there were 18 venous angiomas, i.e. 4.66%. Intracerebral haemorrhage and unilateral headache were most frequent (7.3% and 9%). No difference was found between the right and left hemisphere and between different brain areas. Cerebral angiography remains an important method in the diagnosis of venous angiomas of the brain, provided a satisfactory programme and high quality material are used. Examination by computed tomography without a contrast is of little diagnostic value, the use of contrast in computer tomography can improve the diagnosis.
","PeriodicalId":75690,"journal":{"name":"Ceskoslovenska neurologie a neurochirurgie","volume":"53 1","pages":"39-42"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13485026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because there exist still marked differences in the reporting of diagnoses of cerebrovascular diseases which account for 20%, and in exceptional cases even more, it is not possible to obtain a basis nation-wide figure and so farr it is necessary to use for calculation a general symbol x for incidence and y for mortality. These symbols are multiplied and divided in different age groups. In the second part of the paper the author analyzes due to the different mortality of cerebrovascular diseases in neurological and medical departments and medical departments and with regard to his own experience, the possibility to use neurological beds for hospitalization of patients with acute cerebrovascular attacks in relation to the number of beds, their occupancy and the incidence of cerebrovascular attacks.
","PeriodicalId":75690,"journal":{"name":"Ceskoslovenska neurologie a neurochirurgie","volume":"53 1","pages":"43-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13485027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 10 of them (14.7%) he detected neurological and opthalmological symptoms. In six patients this symptomatology appeared for the first time, in four it had been recorded already in the past. Consistent with data in the literature, the author is in favour of the view that the neurological symptomatology in mitral with mitral valve prolapse is conditioned by a thromboembolic mechanism. The basis for the formation of micro- and marco- thrombi is an impaired continuity of the endothelium of the myxomatously degenerated cusps with subsequent deposition of thrombocyte aggregates and fibrin. {"title":"[Does a \"transcortical\" loop of the long-latency muscle reflex exist?].","authors":"F Podivinský","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

EMG responses were produced by electric stimulation of the dermal branches of the nn. digilates of the index finger of the right hand and recorded from the m. interosseus dorsalis I. during its slight isometric contraction. The mean initial latency of a long-latency muscular reflex was 50.68 ms in men and 49.13 in women. The author mentions some arguments indicating the probable existence of a transcortical loop: The latency of long-latency reflexes increases gradually from proximal to distal muscles. The short-latency component of the somatosensory evoked potential N20 appears mid-time between the time of the stimulus and the onset of the long-latency reflex and thus the time interval in the long-latency reflex is sufficient for a transcortical loop. The author found a facilitation of the muscular reflex response as well as of the preparatory cortical potential during the preparatory period of voluntary flexion of the fingers during concurrent electric stimulation of the peripheral nerve. The late reflex component increases considerably and is better synchronized during the movement of the thumb instead of isometric contraction, because during kinetic innervation afferent impulses reach the precentral cortex at a higher facilitated level. These results document well the modifiable, plastic behaviour of transcortical reflexes. The method of long-latency reflexes can be used in electrophysiological diagnosis of disorders of the CNS and it is promising also in therapeutic stimulation rehabilitation and in locomotor reeducation.
","PeriodicalId":75690,"journal":{"name":"Ceskoslovenska neurologie a neurochirurgie","volume":"52 6","pages":"371-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1989-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13777029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was revealed that substance VULM 957 inhibits in a dose-dependent and time-dependent way the platelet aggregation, reduces the viscosity of blood, increases the deformability of red blood cells and increases the cerebral blood flow. Analysis of possible mechanisms of action of VULM 957 indicates that the observed positive haemorheological effects are due to the influence on the fluidity of the platelet and red cell membrane. The increased cerebral blood flow after administration of VULM 957 depends obviously on the reduced viscosity of the blood and the inhibited formation of platelet microaggregates. It was revealed that allopurinol enhances the synthesis of adenine nucleotides from administered inosine in the brain and liver of rats. In the heart and kidneys allopurinol did not affect the synthesis of these compounds. Isoproterenol has a more marked effect on the metabolism of adenine nucleotides in the heart only: it reduced the amount of adenine nucleotides and enhanced their synthesis from inosine.
