Seventy rural dwellers were randomly selected for this study. Data were obtained using a structured questionnaire to elicit information on respondents’ socioeconomics characteristics, the sources of information, the perceived effects of economic recession on rural dwellers, the economic recession coping strategies and the perceived causes of economic recession. Result reveals that the mean age of the rural dwellers 51.8 years, 61.4% were married, 27.1 % had tertiary education and 32.9 % were farmers. The average monthly income of the rural dwellers were 12204.29 Naira (equivalent to 33 US dollars per month). The highest ranked perceived effects of economic recession were increased in prices of goods and services and that economic recession has encourage many rural dwellers to go back to farming (4.60). The coping strategies were working harder (2.73), changing life style (2.51) and borrowing money from family members and friends (2.31). Neglect of agriculture (4.67) and over dependence on crude oil (4.50) were the perceived causes of economic recession by the respondents. The result of PPMC reveals that there was a significant relationship between the coping strategies of the rural dwellers and their educational level (r = 0.604; p=0.049). The study recommends that there is need for government to make palliative measures that will cushion the effects of economic recession on the rural dwellers.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87421204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both quantitative and qualitative research design was employed in the study. Seventy –six (76) out of eighty (80) questionnaires were received. The analysis of data was aided by the use of SPSS and Microsoft Excel. Findings from the research using linear regression models indicated that petroleum price hikes result in higher transport cost. This finding is consistent with an earlier study conducted by Ocheni. The study further revealed that increases in fuel price also triggered high cost of spare parts. The researcher recommends that government should hedge the price of fuel to mitigate the risks associated with price hikes. And also the government should subsidize the cost of spare parts, either through tax-cut or any other means possible in order to reduce the cost burden.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77189355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While the leaders of groups don't understand the arguments of other sects; that is why they have certainty on their own beliefs. They are the strike and rigid for not adopting the theories of other groups. Furthermore, social division in India has Jurisdiction issue. The study controls for various household characteristics, asset-holding variables, institutional, village level infrastructural variables as well as endogeniety problems using IV estimation. The results indicate that remittances positively and significantly affect household level consumption expenditure. Household characteristics particularly family size, participation on wage employment, distance to the main market and lowland agro ecological zone affect welfare status and access to extension service affects the welfare status positively and significantly. On the other hand, oxen, land size, non-livestock asset, participation on own business, access to credit and access to extension service have positive and significant effect on the household’s welfare status.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79426563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The policy was deferred in 2007. The justification of the study eleven years after the deferral is accredited to the contemporary financial and economic predicament and the declining naira value to the US Dollars. It's therefore vital to gauge citizen’s perception of the policy via quantitative technique. The variable adopted embrace only one, redenomination with indicators. Data were extracted from 124 respondents, who understands the impact and effect of redenomination. The victory and miscarriage of the policy is squarely the ability and inability to ensure squat and firm inflation rate, economic growth, price stability and effective citizen education. The policy benefits citizen perspective embraces; economic credibility, payment and pricing system proficiency, and convenience, whereas, the fears takes on counterfeits, and insufficient supply of notes and coins.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77051803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The total assists of the bank depend on the dependent variables of are non-performing loan and nonperforming loan to total assets while the independent variables includes i.e. board size, independent directors, audit committee member, foreign ownership, domestic ownership, CEO duality, bank age, female director, board meeting and bank size. So the study conducted in current research is based on the data obtained from eighteen commercial banks in Nepal dated: 2010/2011to 2015/2016, leading to a total of 108 observations. Some of the data were obtained from websites and annual reports of the Nepalese Banks. The data were analysed through regression model to examine the importance of corporate governance variables on non-performing loan. Some of the result has positive correlation with the ratio of non-performance loan which shows that diversified the board, director of board, audit committee higher will be the ratio of nonperforming loan and vice versa, while the result has negative impact on the presence of foreign ownership which are otherwise explain the presence of foreign of ownership would reduce the bank proficiency. Furthermore the presence of domestic ownership has increased the efficiency of the corporate banking sectors. The presence of dual CEO is also negative relation with the performance of the bank. Similarly the age of bank, presence of female director, number of board meeting and bank size has positive relation with the said topic. We have used the 2SLS to estimate our result in the 2007 Household consumption survey using STATA 13.0. The result shows that: male household heads, secondary and higher education attainment, non-poor household, age group from 30 years above, experience as an entrepreneur and urban residence are strongly promoting entrepreneurship in Cameroon. We also observed that entrepreneurship is strongly correlating with economic development, while entrepreneurs of age group above 30 years are positively contributing to economic development. We recommend that the decision makers should create more easy avenues (access to credit) to support entrepreneurs. This is a major step towards economic development in Cameroon.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87835231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Financial liberalisation refers to the removal of the intervention a government imposes on key variables like interest rate. Therefore, it refers to the removal of various constraints in the financial sector. We will be examining the impact of some macroeconomic variables on the financial development of eight countries. We then will be using three measures for financial development which are bank credit to the private sector, bank deposits and stock market capitalization. Explanatory variables will be used to determine financial development and estimations are based on random-effect panel regressions. Random effect supposes that the difference across countries impact the level of financial development: for the banking development variable, inflation has a significant and negative impact on credit to private sectors and bank deposits. However, Portfolio investments and remittance have not impacted bank credit to private sector, bank deposit and stock market capitalization. Stock market capitalization appears not to be affected and do not improve by any other variable. Per-capita income has a positive impact on bank deposit, but a negatively impacted by stock market capitalization. The Trade variable is negatively correlated with credit to private sector. Net private investment has a positive impact on financial development through the banking deposits but negatively to the stock market capitalization.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75225946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to the overall fall, an asset substitution process has progressively reduced the truly social part of public investment, which in developing and developed countries alike may be well below the mark of 1-2% of GDP. This negative trend is made more dramatic by the fact that virtually the only public investment with a reach beyond the single countries is of public- private nature and thus explicitly excludes multilateral assets of pure public good nature, such as intercountry infrastructure and multilateral social welfare programs. The situation is especially dramatic for Italy, where the fall of public investment has contributed to the decline of key components of the country human and social capital endowment. This article explores some of the most important dimensions of this phenomenon, concentrating on the supply rather than the demand side effects, and proposes a solution based on a conditioned expansion of European public investment, concentrated in highly productive assets such as education and infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":73758,"journal":{"name":"Journal of global health economics and policy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73100859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
