Its pathophysiology is poorly understood but there seems to be an auto-inflammatory component related to mutations in inflammasome genes. It has been subdivided into its classic form, malignancy-associated, and drug-induced, according to its aetiology. The condition usually responds rapidly to steroid therapy, but recurrences are common. This report presents an extremely rare case of hydroxychloroquine-induced Sweet's syndrome, plus a review of the literature, which encompasses 3 previous cases of Sweet's syndrome induced by hydroxychloroquine and 1 induced by chloroquine. Despite being relatively easy to diagnose, aetiological investigation poses challenges to the clinician, especially in the elderly population, as several confounding factors might be present. The aim of this study is to determine the association between maternal AA and risk of adverse birth outcomes in children. A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 45,328 children born to mothers with AA and 4,703,253 controls born to mothers without AA using the Korean National Health Insurance Claims database from 2002 to 2016. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to evaluate the association between maternal AA and the birth outcomes of their children. Infants born to mothers with AA exhibited a significantly higher risk of preterm birth (odds ratio [OR] 1.39, 95% CI 1.33-1.45; adjusted OR [aOR] 1.07, 95% CI 1.01-1.13), low birthweight (OR 1.36, 95% CI 1.30-1.42; aOR 1.11, 95% CI 1.05-1.17), and Caesarean section birth (OR 1.24, 95% CI 1.22-1.26; aOR 1.12, 95% CI 1.08-1.15) than controls. In addition, the risk of congenital malformations was also significantly higher in infants born to mothers with AA (OR 1.19, 95% CI 1.15-1.22; aOR 1.10, 95% CI 1.07-1.14), especially for malformations of the urinary (OR 1.33, 95% CI 1.19-1.48; aOR 1.16, 95% CI 1.04-1.29) and musculoskeletal (OR 1.19, 95% CI 1.12-1.27; aOR 1.12, 95% CI 1.05-1.19) systems, than controls. An initial punch biopsy is often performed as an aid to diagnosis. A retrospective registry-based study was performed to assess histopathological concordance of punch biopsy of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and subsequent excision. Analysis of 737 punch biopsies and subsequent matched excisions was performed. In total, 493 (67%) lesions were confirmed as invasive cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma on excision, 76% when excluding \"scar\" as a final diagnosis. Tumour diameter > 20mm was highly predictive of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (positive predictive value 91.1%). Tumours on the scalp were significantly more likely to demonstrate a final diagnosis of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma than those on the arm (odds ratio 6.11, 95% confidence interval 3.1,12.0). There was moderate concordance between biopsy and excision in grade of histopathological differentiation. This study demonstrates that clinical high-risk features may be of more value in predicting a diagnosis of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma than partial punch biopsy. This cross-sectional observational study comparatively evaluated substance-related and behavioural addictions in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis patients and analysed possible addiction patterns. From October 2023 to April 2024, 100 atopic dermatitis and 104 psoriasis patients at a German university hospital completed an anonymous questionnaire, including sociodemographic and health-related parameters, along with validated assessment tools for common addictions (smoking, gambling, alcohol, drugs, food, and internet). More psoriasis patients had at least 1 addiction (50.0% vs 39.0%), were more frequent daily smokers (34.6% vs 15.0%) and reported gambling more frequently than atopic dermatitis patients. No differences emerged regarding gambling addiction. Psoriasis patients showed higher body mass index, with 1.9% addicted to food. Atopic dermatitis patients were more vulnerable to pathological internet use (9.0% vs 2.9%). Low happiness was a risk factor for smoking in atopic dermatitis and for gambling and drug consumption in psoriasis patients. Low disease severity was associated with pathological alcohol in-take in psoriasis. Younger age emerged as a ubiquitous risk factor for drug consumption. The condition can seriously both impact cosmetic appearance and obstruct nasal breathing. While its appearance is distinct, conditions such as basal cell carcinoma can mimic it, complicating diagnosis. Treatment options for rhinophyma range from medical therapies to surgical interventions, with CO2 laser resurfacing emerging as the gold standard due to its precision and minimal blood loss. This retrospective case series evaluates the long-term efficacy and patient satisfaction of CO2 laser treatment in 11 male patients treated between 2015 and 2023 at the Karolinska University Hospital. The results revealed sustained positive outcomes, with 92% of patients reporting high satisfaction and 55% experiencing improved nasal airflow post-procedure. Despite some instances of hypopigmentation and scarring, no major side effects were reported. The study supports CO2 laser treatment as a safe and effective option for moderate to major rhinophyma in Caucasian male patients with Fitzpatrick skin types I-III.
