A method for addressing the complexity in achieving the narrow bandwidth and temperature stability simultaneously with aluminum nitride-based lamb-wave acoustic devices is outlined. Using this approach, a theoretical filter is designed with an insertion loss of 6.65 dB and a fractional bandwidth of 0.11% when connected to a port with an impedance of $3 mathrm{k}Omega$ in parallel with 250 fF with a temperature coefficient of frequency of less than 2 ppm/°C first order TCF. The fabricated device shows an insertion loss of 11.5 dB and a fractional bandwidth of 0.13%.","PeriodicalId":6872,"journal":{"name":"2020 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics (IFCS-ISAF)","volume":"53 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73503931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper outlines an approach to address mode matching in bulk acoustic wave (BAW) disk gyroscopes using electrostatic frequency tuning. Electrostatic frequency tuning is achieved by varying the potential difference between the body of the resonator and electrodes surrounding the disk resonator. Tuning of the frequencies of both drive and sense modes is demonstrated in this work as a means to achieving mode matching. The experimental results are also compared to COMSOL simulations reporting mode matching.","PeriodicalId":6872,"journal":{"name":"2020 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics (IFCS-ISAF)","volume":"17 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75268767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One possible application for this sensor design is to detect the small changes in magnetic susceptibility in lithium-ion batteries associated with changes in the internal state of the battery. This design is selected to take advantage of the coupling of the impedance characteristics of the GMI microwire to the IDT transduction process. As a result, high sensitivity in the low magnetic field ($sim mu mathrm{T}$) region can be achieved. Field-induced changes in frequency dependent complex permeability of the GMI microwire are measured through the IDT insertion loss due to the resulting impedance mismatch. Initial results indicate that optimizing sensor parameters enables high sensitivity in weak magnetic field detection as required for direct measurement of the internal state of batteries.","PeriodicalId":6872,"journal":{"name":"2020 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics (IFCS-ISAF)","volume":"17 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78224410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The RAM rises from polarization mismatch between electro-optic modulator (EOM) axis and polarizers implemented for the generation of the error signal by the Pound-Drever-Hall technique. Using digital control system, we have developed a simple and robust technique for an active reduction of the RAM acting on the temperature of the EOM in addition with a DC and high voltage applied accross the EOM crystal. We observe a reduction of the RAM to 0.25 ppm compatible with a fractional frequency stability in the low 1e−16 around 10s.","PeriodicalId":6872,"journal":{"name":"2020 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics (IFCS-ISAF)","volume":"31 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80345395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First the operational frequency ∼20 GHz of a sensor having a comparatively high $Q$ factor was applied with an aim decreasing the relative measurement error and increasing the sensitivity. Sensitivity on Pt film deposition was estimated as 0.5 nm. Dependences of the overtone's frequency shift vs. film thickness could be differed from the linearly proportional ones. Such peculiarities were explained in terms of an acoustic impedance difference between the films and diamond substrate. Experimental results were in close accordance with FEM model data. Prototypes of sensory elements developed have the important advantages over all other types of acoustoelectronic sensors owing to operating the SHF band up to 20 GHz, high chemical and biological inertness of the working diamond surface, resistance to the temperature load, abrasive wear resistance, and the possibility of a multiple-time application. Investigated diamond-based 5th layered piezoelectric structure should be considered as a prospective platform creating a number of new generation sensors.","PeriodicalId":6872,"journal":{"name":"2020 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics (IFCS-ISAF)","volume":"25 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86833546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, characteristic of the Gaussian mass sensitivity distribution brings large error and limits QCM further use in practical applications and commercialization. Through theoretical calculation, it is found that the ring electrode QCM can obtain an approximately mass sensitivity distribution by carefully selecting the inner, outer diameters and electrode mass loading factor. A plating experiment was performed to verify the uniform mass sensitivity distribution of 10 MHz ring electrode QCMs with inner and outer diameters of 2 mm and 5 mm, and the experimental results are consistent with the theoretical analysis results. Due to the effects of material density and other factors, the electrode mass loading factor of the gold QCMs for achieving a uniform mass sensitivity distribution is different that of silver QCMs. The special designed QCMs are low-cost and conducive to improving the repeatability.","PeriodicalId":6872,"journal":{"name":"2020 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium and International Symposium on Applications of Ferroelectrics (IFCS-ISAF)","volume":"26 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81040251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
