One of the most characteristics of the used conventional inverter is that it produces an AC output instantaneous voltage always lower then the DC input voltage. The use of inverters with a low-frequency or high-frequency transformer has the effect of either increasing the weight and the bulk or increasing the switching losses. To work around these problems, a new DC-AC boost inverter is chosen. it is a compact and modular structure without a transformer that performs the functions booster, filtering, and inverter. This work deals with the study of the performances, the design and the simulation of this topology. The Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation SPWM technique is used for control. ORCAD Capture 9.2 is used for simulation. The obtained results presented in this research corroborate the theoretical prediction.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"101 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74823969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These variations can cause serious damages to the grid causing sometimes black-outs. In terms of technical operations, the chaotic behavior of DNI makes the dispatch in many cases impossible to provide electricity for the right place at the right time when the need is there. This study proposes an operational method to dispatch electricity based on DNI and load forecasting using statistical and machine learning techniques combined with the dispatch tool provided in SAM (System Advisor Model) software. The case study explored is the Solar Tower with the molten salt combined with Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system used in NOOR 3 Ouarzazate, Morocco. The aim of the proposed method is to reduce the effect of fluctuations on the electrical grid by anticipating them and providing an easier and more accurate operational way of scheduling and making dispatch decisions. The results show a considerable increase in the performance of the simulated grid due to the new proposed dispatch method and the machine learning techniques used.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"380 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88685681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The weather is hot and humid in the summer, but mild in the winter. Aridity is the general characteristic of the country, while natural vegetation such as trees and shrubs can be found in some regions. The hot climate and high humidity in summer as well as aridity in Qatar impose major challenges for expansion in the agricultural sector. The government of Qatar has been and will continue to support local food production through the Qatar National Food Security Program (QNFSP) and other initiatives to develop the agricultural sector to the maximum realizable extent. The focus of this research work is on design, modeling and optimization of small to large-scale agricultural greenhouses for improving their energy and water use efficiency and equipping them with solar PV systems. The solar PV is integrated with the structure of greenhouse, as a roof mounted system, without compromising the supply of daylight and required solar energy for plants growth. The ultimate goal is to develop a Passive Solar Greenhouse (PSGH) design that reduces the cooling load drastically and integrate it with solar cooling to cover 100% of the cooling load. The aim of the optimized PSGH design is to maintain favorable crops growing conditions inside a greenhouse such as temperature, humidity, daylight, ventilation and minimize the cooling load and energy consumption. Five different sizes of pitched roof greenhouses with the optimized PSGH design (28mx8m, 28mx20m, 28mx50m, 28m×100m and 28mx150m) were modeled and compared with the conventional greenhouse design in terms of their dynamic cooling loads and overall energy consumption. The analysis showed that the cooling load of the PSGH design has been reduced by approximately 74%, while over 77% reduction in annual energy consumption has been achieved, compared to a conventional greenhouse design.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"62 1","pages":"1-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84108774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These are alarmingly high levels and there are fears that if this situation is not addressed, the world will end up “drowning” in plastic. Researches that have been done have revealed the ubiquitous nature of plastic because regions which were previously thought to be virgin (untouched) such as The Arctic have been contaminated with microplastics. Little is known about the effects of microplastics on human health. But what is clear is that they have landed on our tables, in the form of table salt or fish that we consume. Furthermore, graphic images have emerged of whales that have died from ingesting plastics as well as entanglement and suffocation of other aquatic animals. Plastic use has significantly increased over the years, mainly because it's a cheap form of material, it can easily be moulded and unlike paper, plastic keeps foods fresh for longer periods. Of late, there has been a growing trend of making less durable plastic materials which makes it difficult to reuse. These plastics are referred to as single use plastics and are said to account for 40% of all plastics manufactured. Statistics also show that from the total plastics produced globally, a meagre 9% has been recycled. The need to explore the use of plastics as an alternative energy source and for material recovery has become more urgent than ever in order to protect the environment and its inhabitants.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"29 1","pages":"1-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90526169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This leads researchers to think of appropriate solutions for an ease integration of renewable energies into electricity sector and to overcome its major obstacle, which is none other than intermittency. In this context, we defend our proposed architecture based on a grid-connected PV-battery hybrid system. Our proposal was tested under real meteorological solar conditions for a typical year using TRNSYS. Its performance evaluation was carried out using statistical analysis via Minitab and shows that the system could be in deficit with a frequency less than 10%• That means that the proposed hybrid system able to meet the demand for its 90% energy states. Such a statistical analysis of the hybrid system energy states let us deduce influence of stochastic parameters on the system size, architecture and energy management.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"15 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90664758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MPPT controllers are used to track the maximum power point regardless of wind speed. Earlier proposed methods like P&O, Fuzzy Logic, Artificial Neural Networks suffers from steady state and lower efficiency. In addition to the power subjected to maximization, the proposed algorithms, Particle Swarm and Grey Wolf, do not need any additional wind sensor or prior knowledge of the wind energy system. Those proposed evolutionary computation techniques assure zero steady state oscillation and faster convergence while tracking maximum power. In this work, the MATLAB/Simulink environment is used to simulate the proposed PSO & GWO algorithms. The obtained results demonstrate that the adopted techniques are significantly more efficient than traditional algorithms.","PeriodicalId":6671,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"1-7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81634870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It protects energy resources without producing waste or of carbon emissions, preserving the environment and human health. Therefore, Morocco has launched water-saving programs in agriculture, to reduce energy costs and relieve the compensation fund, promoting solar photovoltaic pumping irrigation. This technique doesn't generate any cost of fuel and avoids repeated stops because the sun is a relatively stable and reliable source of energy. These elements give this solution a good return on investment and a better price / quality ratio compared to conventional pumping systems. The second one is composed of two lenses the first is a Plano-convex lens, while the secondary is a dome lens. We studied and analyzed several parameters including large range of wavelengths. The two systems are compared in terms of optical efficiency and acceptance angle. In addition, the distribution of irradiance on the solar cell is also studied. The particular case of energy harvesting on road pavements is a recent area of research, with different technologies having been developed. However, none of them have presented high energy conversion efficiencies, making that none of them has entered the market. This paper deals with the experimental validation of a new electro-mechanical system to implement on a road pavement energy harvesting electromechanical device, previously developed by the authors. The main goal is to quantify the energy harvesting and conversion efficiency of the new system and compare it with its theoretical results from simulations.
