The considered scheme uses the Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) formulation, avoiding artificial surfaces between the decomposed domains; furthermore, the proposed DDM can be applied to open structures straightly. The convergence of the algorithm is accelerated through the enhancement of the transmission conditions in the cutting contours separating the domains.","PeriodicalId":6663,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI)","volume":"7 1","pages":"1387-1388"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81556751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Volume integral equation (VIE) formulations are reliable but computationally burdensome. The use of surface integral equation (SIE) formulations results in a lighter computational load but, we show here, obtrudes certain non-physical modes in addition to the physical ones. We show that the non-physical ones are easily identified using a radiated power check, and can be discarded, so allowing use of the SIE for finding the true CMs of dielectric objects. The SIE can be used with fine meshing with relatively modest computational resources; this is of practical importance.","PeriodicalId":6663,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI)","volume":"23 1","pages":"844-845"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81832585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our scheme, a pilot signal comprised of an impulse train is broadcasted from a mobile device. The wireless charger analyzes the received pilot signal, and then accordingly constructs a focused power beam onto the mobile device. In our experiments, 14 mW out of the 1 Watt power transmitted from the charger is harvested by the mobile device 50-cm distance away, and the power beam is capable of tracking the device's location dynamically. In addition, since the pilot signal's spectrum covers a certain frequency range, the carrier of wireless power can be configured among multiple frequencies.","PeriodicalId":6663,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI)","volume":"9 1","pages":"1411-1412"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84949165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the radiation performance degrades significantly for wide scan angles, for instance gain dropping and beam broadening, due to increased phase errors. In this paper, by exploiting the phase controlling capabilities in reflectarrays, an improved reflectarray based on conventional parabolic cylinder type designs but with optimized phases is proposed. The design of a Ka-band microstrip reflectarray antenna fed by a rotatable array is presented. The preliminary calculated results show that after optimization the scanning range can be significantly increased while maintaining similar radiation characteristics.","PeriodicalId":6663,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI)","volume":"125 1","pages":"1023-1024"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86002116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The rotation is an added function to the band-reject FSS, which is built using an array of parallel plate waveguides. The device exploits an L-shaped slot to generate a 90° rotated E-field component at the output. An example is designed here, operating at 10 GHz, with a half-power (3-dB) fractional bandwidth of 2.7% for the transmission coefficient of the rotated field. The insertion loss is 1.3 dB at the resonant frequency. The proposed rotator exhibits good stability over a large range of oblique incidence. The operating principle of the L-slot is explained, along with an illustration of the field behavior, and the design details are briefly discussed.","PeriodicalId":6663,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI)","volume":"75 1","pages":"2050-2051"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76679328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The formulation is a first order approximation for low frequency and is based on the fact that the vector and scalar potentials are decoupled at zero frequency. In this regime we find suitable boundary conditions for the vector potential and for the scalar potential. We test the accuracy of this approximation at low frequency. The geometry under test is the sphere and the exact reference solution used is the Mie series.","PeriodicalId":6663,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI)","volume":"126 1","pages":"2186-2187"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77013680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two separate frequency bands with separate radiating elements are used in each band. The frequency band separation ratio is about 1.3:1. These elements are arranged with different spacing (wider spacing for the lower frequency band, and narrower spacing for the higher frequency band). Isolation between bands inherently exists in this approach. This avoids the grating lobe effect, and mitigates the beam narrowing (dispersion) seen with fixed element spacing covering the whole wide bandwidth. A new low-profile cross dipole is designed, which is integrated in the array with an EBG/AMC structure for reducing the size of low band elements and decreasing coupling at high band.","PeriodicalId":6663,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI)","volume":"265 1","pages":"1558-1559"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77157970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
