Market based transactive exchanges between prosumers are triggered by the increased deployments of renewable generations and microgrid architectures. Transactive Energy Systems (TES) employ economic and control mechanisms to dynamically balance the demand and supply across the full electrical grid. Effective transactive mechanisms leverage on a large number of distributed edge-computing and a communication architecture. Given the prolific usage of digital devices, the assets within a transactive environment are vulnerable to cyber threats. In this paper, various components within a transactive environment are represented and modelled. The effect of cyber attacks on the operation of transactive energy systems is studied through proxy attacks simulated on the test system.","PeriodicalId":6568,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D)","volume":"24 1","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81148732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, a strategy is needed to find the optimum combination of grid power, solar power, and power from the ESS so that the total cost of energy can be minimized. A solution to this problem is proposed here as Advanced Optimal Resource Allocation (AORA). This control scheme uses the prediction of Photovoltaic (PV) power availability, the real-time price of energy, and the levelized cost of energy for both PV and ESS to optimally combine the dispatch of power sources. Simulation results are presented for a 24 h prediction window and compared with a baseline power usage scheme that is based on a fixed charging and discharging schedule for the ESS. The comparison shows that AORA results in a substantial cost savings over the baseline scheme.","PeriodicalId":6568,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D)","volume":"19 1","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81805773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The risk assessment of substation operation is a complex multi-factor comprehensive evaluation process. Based on the principle of system engineering, the risk assessment index system for substation operation is established in four aspects: “man, machine, environment and management”. Triangular fuzzy number AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) is applied to calculate the weight for each index and backward cloud generator is used to transform the marking results of experts into the numerical characteristics of the cloud model for each index. The comprehensive cloud picture and the whole evaluation cloud picture are produced by the positive cloud generator. The results show that the proposed indexes and evaluation method can reflect the risk level of substation operation intuitively, flexibly and accurately.","PeriodicalId":6568,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D)","volume":"53 16","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91453508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This letter presents a novel GPU-accelerated batch LU-factorization solver that achieves higher level of parallelism and better memory-access efficiency through packaging massive number of LU-factorization tasks to formulate a new larger-scale problem. The proposed solver can achieve up to 76 times speedup when compared to KLU library and lays a critical foundation for massive-PFs-solving applications.","PeriodicalId":6568,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D)","volume":"13 1","pages":"1-1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88983124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is performed in IEEE Flash program by using actual design and field-measured data. The investigation results are presented in terms of estimated total flashover (back-flash and shielding failure flash) rates and corresponding critical currents. The total flashover rates for the entire transmission line are also computed from the lightning performance results of individual tower structures and connected conductors. Moreover, a sensitivity analysis is furnished in order to assess the influence of tower footing resistance on the results. The obtained results indicate that the probability of occurrence of a shielding failure on the line is low. However, the utility should install lightning arrester at least at the substation entrances in order to mitigate the likelihood of future equipment damage.","PeriodicalId":6568,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D)","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85597542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The DP algorithm is designed to optimally manage the charge/discharge cycles of the household energy storage unit and maximize homeowner benefit. Moreover, the Net Present Value (NPV) is calculated and used for optimal PV panel and energy storage capacity sizing while taking into account the household load demand for different seasons and the Time-of-Use (ToU) electricity price. The DP based control strategy has also been compared with a heuristic control strategy which shows the superior performance of the former.","PeriodicalId":6568,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D)","volume":"69 1","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83265160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although in the new method each distributed generator only communicate with its neighbors to control the voltage, yet the messages are circulating among the whole system. In this paper, we have utilized distributed controller locally so that it will work as a fully distributed control system. This controller has been justified by being studied within a case study including 6 distributed generators.","PeriodicalId":6568,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D)","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76043593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective is to define the scope of replacement according to wood pole condition assessment rules developed by asset analytics. The construction of prior distribution by numerical simulation provides an example to explain how it works with sampling evidence to calculate the posterior distribution. The results are also compared with estimations by classical statistics. Discussions of asset condition scoring algorithm, logistic regression, Bernoulli process and Bayes theorem are included in the paper.","PeriodicalId":6568,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exposition (T&D)","volume":"7 1","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75031050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Further, and most importantly, validating final representative feeders and clusters when a sizeable feeder data set is used has not been completed. This paper addresses these issues.
