This paper explores the influence of several different training data-sets in determining user's symbolic location. The implementation and experimentation were done using off-line instance-based machine learning methods to filter all of the training data-sets. The training data-sets were optimized using “multiple observers” k-Nearest Neighbor approach. Using this method, four different observations were compared, which were 8M observations of SQ and SS , 8M SS observers, 1M SQ and SS and the last was 1M SS observers. Hand-based authentication schemes in the literature are mostly based on invariant geometrical features, typically including length and width of the fingers, aspect ratio of the palm or fingers, thickness of the hand, etc.. These features are not as discriminating as other biometric characteristics, however they can easily be used for verification purpose. Gesture recognition is the process by which gestures formed by a user interact with the computer or is the element of the special signs language to convey meaning. The power factor is improved by adding two auxiliary windings coupled to the transformer of a cascade dc/dc flyback converter. The auxiliary windings are placed between the input rectifier and the low-frequency filter capacitor to serve as a magnetic switch to drive an input inductor. Since the dc/dc converter is operated at high switching frequency, the auxiliary windings produce a high frequency pulsating source such that the input current conduction angle is significantly lengthened and the input current harmonics is reduced. It eliminates the use of active switch and control circuit for PFC. The input inductor can be designed to operate in discontinuous current mode (DCM) with lower harmonic content or continuous conduction mode (CCM) with higher efficiency. However, a trade-off between efficiency and harmonic content must be made. These tokens consist of user identity certificate and keys associated with the certificate. The discussion is initiated with the adoption of current solution; MyProxy as a generator of proxy certificate and credential repository for grid systems. Ongoing efforts are made towards improvising the security of MyProxy. As an alternative of these efforts, a new solution is proposed which will maintain grid workflow functionality without the requisite of MyProxy. However, size and morphological characteristics of nanoparticles are critical for drug release in the body, warranting understanding the parameters controlling the above characteristics. This paper describes, firstly, preparation parameters to optimize the size of polylactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA)-based nanoparticles, and secondly, study the morphology of the same nanoparticles, formed by the emulsion solvent evaporation technique. The solvent evaporation technique involves an aqueous phase containing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a stabilizing agent. After washing, the samples were freeze-dried and analyzed using particle size analyzer and scanning electron microscope. Similar processes can be found in the field of biomaterial research. New scaffold materials and scaffold fabrication technologies give a possibility to create biocompatible biodegradable 3-dimensional artificial extra cellular matrices to improve implant materials designed by tissue engineering. For small and delicate technical and biological structures (hydrogels for scaffolds, cells) a high resolution and precise manipulation system is needed. A semi-open BioMEMS structure offers access to cultivated cells and to the scaffold structures. The bio-microsystem consists of a structured silicon substrate bonded to a glass cover with orifices. Polymer tube adapters, directly bonded to the silicon via nanostructured surfaces, connect it to a perfusion system for the long term cultivation of mammalian or human chondrocytes or fibroblasts. Externally fabricated scaffolds are integrated into the cultivation chambers. In this paper we present a piezo driven micromanipulator with automated control. Several tools such as grippers and needles can be fixed on the manipulators. The manipulation unit is completed by an observation unit to monitor the processes. Image processing software provides parameters for the control algorithm by detecting the position of the manipulation devices. So, a positioning of the tools is achieved in 2D inside the cultivation chamber of the microsystem. An induction motor draws a high starting current and develops a high torque during start-up. The high starting current often causes problem such as voltage dips which will be penalized by the energy companies. Various motor starters were introduced to overcome this problem. The different motors starters available in Malaysian market are discussed and analyzed in this paper; these include both conventional electromechanical starters and power electronic drives. The advantages, disadvantages and energy saving features of each type of starter mentioned will also be discussed. In general, the average torque falls rapidly as the rotor speed increases above the base speed, hence the motor will frequently be found to have insufficient torque at higher speed. One way to counter this problem is by using third harmonic back-emf detection technique during high speed operation because the third harmonic is usually kept a constant relationship with rotor position for any motor speeds and load conditions. Therefore, we could potentially avoid the torque deterioration which commonly occurs in traditional sensorless technique due to the delay of the phase angle between current and back-emf. Furthermore this method is practically free of noise which may be introduced from inverter switches. The approach works directly on the digitized ECG. It computes the time derivative of the signal and detects the features of P wave using adaptive thresholding approach that overcome from the impact of high frequency noise present in the signal. Performance of the proposed P wave delineator is evaluated on Physionet QT database, which shows the detection sensitivity to 99.5% and positive predictivity to 99.89%. Lower values of mean error and standard deviation for onset and offset of P wave fiducials are obtained to 5.18±8.1 and 4.4±6.29, where units are in ms. This paper presents a generalized model which encompasses all possible voltage driven circuit realizations of an inductive link and presents a comparison on the bases of link efficiency and voltage gain. Mathematical expressions for the generalized voltage driven model as well as for the equivalent circuit topologies are derived. Moreover effect of different parameters such as resonating impedances on the final relationships is exhaustively analyzed. Optimization is a critical aspect in designing inductive links for medical implants since the link virtually acts as an air-core transformer with relatively low mutual coupling. Therefore, in order to maximize the gain and improve the link efficiency it is very necessary to design the link on optimized parameters.
