It is most often primitive. The clinical and radiological features are sometimes misleading. It poses diagnostic problems especially with cancer. We report a case of breast tuberculosis having clinical and radiological presentations as a breast carcinoma. Through this observation and a review of the literature, we provide an update on the epidemiological characteristics and the means of diagnosis of this lesion. It was a 52-year-old woman with inflammatory lump of the left breast, adherent to the skin. Ultrasonography and mammography revealed a homogeneous, poorly demarcated nodule of approximately 4 cm of diameter, classified ACR4. Surgical excision was performed. The histological diagnosis was breast tuberculosis. The diagnosis of tuberculous mastitis is made on bacteriological and pathological examinations. Histological examination helps for diagnostic confirmation while excluding a malignant lesion of the breast.","PeriodicalId":57444,"journal":{"name":"病理学期刊(英文)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44729468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These markers can be endogenous products of highly active metabolites from malignant neoplastic cells or the products of newly activated genes. Ideally, tumor markers should be highly sensitive, specific, and reliable with a high prognostic value and organ specificity. In addition, they should reflect the tumor stage. However, no tumor markers identified thus far have all of these characteristics. Nevertheless, most tumor markers show excellent clinical relevance for monitoring the efficacy of a variety of therapies. We herein review how to use the recommended tumor markers to diagnose malignancies, such as gastrointestinal carcinoma, liver cancer, bile duct/pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, gynecologic cancer, and urologic cancer.","PeriodicalId":57444,"journal":{"name":"病理学期刊(英文)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49473552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The patients were referred to the Urology Departments of Mosul General Hospital and Soran Hospital in Mosul and Erbil respectively. Methods: The present study was carried out from April 2019 to March 2020 and the number of the patients group was 108. The patients aged 20 to 60 years. Semen was collected from infertile men of a couple that female failed to become pregnant after one year of regular and unprotected intercourse of marriage and submitted for seminal fluid analysis as well as for bacteriological investigations Results: M. hominis was detected in 14 semen specimens (12.9%) from the infertile men. The teratozoospermia, normozoospermia, asthenoteratozoospermia, oligoasthenoteratozoospermia, asthenozoospermia, oligozoospermia, oligoasthenozoospermia and leukospermia were seen among patients examined. Statistically, there were no significant differences between these forms of infected infertile men and non-infected infertile men (P > 0.05). Conclusions: The results of present study demonstrated that the genital Mycoplasma hominis seems to be widespread among male partners of infertile couples in Iraq. The present data did not show any significant differences between forms of the sperm concentration and sperm morphology related to the infection by M. hominis.","PeriodicalId":57444,"journal":{"name":"病理学期刊(英文)","volume":"11 1","pages":"7-21"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44344188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It holds second place among parasitic endemics in the world. Schistosoma can infect various organs through the blood vessels. The genital form affects at least 16 million women in endemic areas, and the uterine cervix is the most common site. Two cases of cervical cancer associated with schistosomiasis of the cervix are presented. The aim of this study is to discuss the epidemiological, clinical and histopathological features. Both of the patients lived in Mahanjaga, aged respectively 57 and 43 years old. They complained of uterine bleeding disorder and presented cauliflower lesions with ulceration of the uterine cervix that extended to the vagina in one case. They were undergone cervical biopsies. The diagnosis was, in both cases, invasive, well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma with cervical schistosomiasis.","PeriodicalId":57444,"journal":{"name":"病理学期刊(英文)","volume":"11 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70494910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a benign pathology involving 15% of women of reproductive age. The sigmoid site represents 7% of endometriosis but it is the most frequent area in the digestive tract. We report two cases of colonic endometriosis in which the initial diagnosis suspected a malignant disease. Respectively, the patients were 31 and 48 years old. The first patient complained about abdominal pain with symptoms of intestinal obstruction and was classified after radiological examination as an intrasigmoid tumor with bladder adhesion. The second patient was undergone for a radiological examination because of a bowel obstruction syndrom and a mass in the sigmoid colon was suspected. In both cases, sigmoid colon resection was performed and histological diagnosis was sigmoid endometriosis. Sigmoid endometriosis is rarely diagnosed before surgical excision. Suspicious bowel obstruction and malignant origin lead to large surgical excision. Histological examination is important to establish the diagnosis.","PeriodicalId":57444,"journal":{"name":"病理学期刊(英文)","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70494658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

She underwent hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and partial omentectomy, but the tumor had invaded to the right ureter, and some fragile tumor could not be taken (sub-optimal surgery). On the imprint and ascitic cytology specimens during operation, atypical cells suggestive of adenocarcinoma and spindle atypical cells with immunocytochemically vimentin positive were found. The resected tumor was histopathologically carcinosarcoma consisted of serous adenocarcinoma, chondrosarcoma and fibrosarcoma. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that adenocarcinoma cells were positive for AE1/AE3 and fibrosarcoma cells stained with vimentin. The final diagnosis was the right ovarian carcinosarcoma (stage pT3CNxMx). Microsatellite instability was stable and BRCA1/2 mutations could not be found in the carcinosarcoma cells. There has been a trend of trying to subcategorize DCIS based on cell proliferation assays (Ki67) and the expression of hormone receptors and the human epidermal growth receptor (HER-2) as detected by immunohistochemistry, similar to invasive breast carcinomas (IBC). The aims were to evaluate the expression of breast cancer marker proteins in DCIS by immunohistochemistry to better categorize it. Methods: 46 biopsies from women with DCIS and IBC Luminal A-like were evaluated by immunohistochemistry staining of proteins already known to be biomarkers in IBC. For controls, normal breast tissue from mammoplasty (n = 3) was used. Results: Our results showed an increase of estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) expression relative to that in normal tissue samples (p","PeriodicalId":57444,"journal":{"name":"病理学期刊(英文)","volume":"10 1","pages":"129-146"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47472310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They include small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) and large cell NEC and usually occur in postmenopausal patients. Although common symptoms include postmenopausal bleeding, most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage. We report an extremely rare case of small cell NEC developed in the endometrium of a 75-year-old Japanese woman. This case was initially suspected based on the findings of endometrial cytology: a number of small round malignant cells were present on the endometrial smear specimens. The immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical examinations revealed diffusely cytoplasmic positive reaction of neuron specific enolase (NSE) and partially membranous positive reaction of CD56 in the small cancer cells. They showed PAX-8-positive reaction, but did not express microsatellite instability high. Electron micrography showed several dense-core secretory granules in the cytoplasm of cancer cells. Despite multiple lung metastases, the patient underwent a hysterectomy and salpingo-oophorectomy in order to control excessive genital bleeding. She received six courses of adjuvant chemotherapy based on etoposide and cisplatin, and survived healthy eight months after the first visit without any viability of lung metastases.","PeriodicalId":57444,"journal":{"name":"病理学期刊(英文)","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47316667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
