Its structural characteristics reciprocally link today's practice of performing arts with the practice from the second half of the 18th century. In both time periods, the Singspiel answers to the questions and problems of the aesthetic and political regime of the time, standing against rigid regulations more or less predefined by leading media and political paradigms. Through its vernacular, but also transnational practice, the genre opposes national and normalizing trends in theatre and the pernicious idea of instrumentalizing the performing arts as an identity-establishing tool. Today it fosters the advancement of art forms and aesthetic genres in a globalized and digitalized environment.","PeriodicalId":55908,"journal":{"name":"FORUM MODERNES THEATER","volume":"31 1","pages":"130 - 141"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43228325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It investigates a wide spectrum of musical idioms ranging from more or less spontaneously sung melodies to neatly choreographed flash mobs as well as to high-end performances of the symphony, which also provides the official anthem of the European Union. The essay shows that Beethoven's music has – notwithstanding the fact that it has been used politically for worst – an openness in itself that allows it to be taken it as a symbol for a modern and pluralized society. The fact that it is a choral piece, in which the chorus can be understood as a congregation of many different individuals, allows it to be seen perhaps as an adequate \"instrument\" of pluralism.","PeriodicalId":55908,"journal":{"name":"FORUM MODERNES THEATER","volume":"31 1","pages":"142 - 149"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"68826223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Durative Performances widersetzen sich durch ihre ostentative Maßlosigkeit dabei nicht lediglich einem ökonomisierten Zeit-Regime, sondern geben Angebote einer regelrecht exzessiven Zeiterfahrung aus, die mit der Aufforderung eines Sich-Einlassens in ihren Verlauf selbst spielen und so das Prinzip gerichteter Aufmerksamkeit empfindlich stören. Nicht das überschaubare ‚Werk' als das Phantasma eines in sich abgeschlossenen künstlerischen Produktes, sondern das Eintreten in die ‚Situation' des zeitlichen Verlaufs ist das bestimmende Dispositiv solch installativer Formen. Dies ist zugleich auch die Situation des Lebens schlechthin, zu der sich Kunst dabei mimetisch verhält. Der Artikel entwickelt ausgehend vom historischen Phänomen der Hungerkünstler*innen und mit Blick sowohl auf die anachoretische Praxis der Neo-Avantgarde als auch auf zeitgenössische installative Settings ein Panorama unterschiedlicher Formen der Dauer-Kunst, die mit der paradoxen Erfahrungsqualität einer ‚begrenzten Unermesslichkeit' spielen.","PeriodicalId":55908,"journal":{"name":"FORUM MODERNES THEATER","volume":"12 1","pages":"26 - 38"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41300605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study combines two lines of thought, both rooted in theatre studies. First, the figure of Europa is specifically defined as female in the multifarious ensemble of our cultural memory – Zeus disguised as a bull abducts the royal Phoenician daughter Europa and carries her off to Crete. Second, the far-reaching and numerous resonances of Europe as myth from Ovid's Metamorphoses. In contrast to the ancient model of female suffering both thoughts remain relevant for understanding stagings of Europa in the present. The topic embodies the contemporary need to empower the feminine through body and voice and will be exemplified using various examples such as Magnificat (2011), Rimini Protokoll's Hausbesuch Europa (2015), Philippe Quesne's Big Bang (2010).","PeriodicalId":55908,"journal":{"name":"FORUM MODERNES THEATER","volume":"31 1","pages":"150 - 159"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48554230","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Damit werden Überlegungen zu den Bedingungen der Möglichkeit dieser Verknüpfung verbunden, und zwar in zweifacher Hinsicht: Welche kulturellen Bedürfnisse und Konstellationen drücken sich erstens in ihr aus, worauf reagiert sie? Zweitens soll, im Anschluss an die Theatertheorie Antonin Artauds, die zweifellos Einfluss auf Barthes hatte, nach den philosophischen Bedingungen, die tatsächlich ein Theater als Kritik ermöglichen würden, gefragt werden. Daran wird eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Frage geknüpft, ob diese Bedingungen nicht im systematischen Gegensatz zur derzeitigen Konjunktur der Verbindung von Kunst und Kritik zu sehen sind. Abschließend wird untersucht, welche Konsequenzen sich daraus für die Begriffe von Kunst und Kritik, aber auch von Politik sowie ihr Verhältnis zueinander ergeben.","PeriodicalId":55908,"journal":{"name":"FORUM MODERNES THEATER","volume":"31 1","pages":"65 - 75"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1353/fmt.2020.0005","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41823384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It considers how the same evocative tropes can be instrumentalized for varying reasons and with very different consequences. Attention is focused on evocative tropes that remain easy to manipulate, notably the image of the orange life-jacketed African refugee as the \"zombie refugee\" or the \"living dead\". We examine how the trope of the Mediterranean as a cemetery is constructed and mobilized in the performing arts (theatre, contemporary ballet) and the larger consequences of adopting such an image. Specifically, we interrogate how symbolizing this maritime space as a cemetery transforms the figure of the migrant in the public imagination and ask whether alternatives, either real, or potential exist that might possible reshape the public's vision of the figure of the migrant.","PeriodicalId":55908,"journal":{"name":"FORUM MODERNES THEATER","volume":"31 1","pages":"198 - 210"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1353/FMT.2020.0017","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47600430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In den Debatten, die sich an dem Projekt entzünden, kommt es zu einer Unterscheidung zwischen Aufführung und Aufführungsfotografie, indem der visuellen Dokumentation abgesprochen wird, die spezifische Wirkmacht der Aufführung wiederzugeben. Ausgehend von dieser ins Feld geführten Differenzierung prüfe ich im Folgenden die Mediatisierung der Exhibit Series genauer. Was tut das von der Aufführung und ihrem Diskurs produzierte und distribuierte Bildmaterial? Mein Beitrag steckt dabei das komplexe und heikle Ineinandergreifen von Aufführung, Aufführungsdokumentation und -präsentation ab. Anhand der Wechselverhältnisse von Vor-Bildern, (Re)Produktionen in Aufführungen und der sie dokumentierenden Visualisierung wird das kritische Potential einer zeigenden Praxis herausgearbeitet. Kritisches Potential beziehe ich nicht nur auf die von Künstler*innen wie Bailey formulierten Absichten der Dekonstruktion und Destabilisierung, sondern fokussiere mit Verweis auf das Bedeutungsfeld von Begriffen wie ‚heikel', ‚prekär' oder ‚riskant' die vielfältigen, widersprüchlichen Wirkungen von Zeigepraxen.","PeriodicalId":55908,"journal":{"name":"FORUM MODERNES THEATER","volume":"31 1","pages":"76 - 89"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2020-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45623213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
