Library service is said to be good if the utilization of service is done maximally. It is related to user education, which in this case the purpose of user education is to provide education about the library so that users can utilize library services effectivelly and efficiently. This study aims to describe the role of the user education towards the utilization behavior of library service of the students of Faculty of Communication Sciences Padjadjaran University. The method used in this research is survey with quantitative descriptive approach. The sample of this research consists of 93 students of class of 2016 were chosen by accidental sampling technique. The results of this study show that the role of knowledge about layout, facilities, policy, and library services towards the utilization behavior of library service in the medium category. Meanwhile, the role of knowledge about librarians and the staffs in the library and library collections towards the utilization behavior of library service in the high category. Kemunduran nilai-nilai moral anak didik saat ini telah menjadi peringatan bagi semua pihak, terutama lembaga pendidikan dan orang tua. Banyak kasus yang menimpa generasi muda, mulai dari kasus tawuran, narkotika, pergaulan bebas dan perbuatan menyimpang lainnya. Perpustakaan memiliki peran sebagai pelestarian ilmu pengetahuan, informasi, pendidikan, penelitian, rekreasi, dan kultural. Perpustakaan yang ideal pada dasarnya adalah sebuah perpustakaan yang mampu memberdayakan masyarakat, melakukan revolusi minat baca dan mampu mengubah karakter masyarakat dari masyarakat tuna informasi menjadi masyarakat yang berliterasi. Hal ini mejadi dasar pemikiran untuk mengoptimalkan peran perpustakaan dalam pendidikan karakter bagi generasi muda. Perpustakaan berperan mengajarkan beberapa karakter, yaitu cinta ilmu pengetahuan, gemar membaca, perilaku disiplin, berbagi dengan orang lain, serta mengajarkan tanggung jawab. Kajian ini termasuk kajian library research dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis empiris, metode pengumpulan data dengan observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasilnya bahwa Perpustakaan dapat menjadi unsur penting dalam menanamkan pendidikan karakter. This article discusses the idea of applying information technology of library in hand for library services. It is based on observations of the benchmarking activities in several countries and review on various literatures. Presentation and analysis are conducted descriptively, with the conclusion that the library should be about to adaptively follow the development of IT by considering the contextual social effects. In this context, the application of library in hand includes SMS gateway, Interactive Learning, Independent Learning, Online Reservation, and Online Library Information Retrieval. Perpustakaan membutuhkan dukungan finansial yang cukup dalam rangka memberikan layanan dan menjalankan kegiatan perpustakaan. Perpustakaan terkadang ditemukan mempunyai dukungan finansial yang terbatas dari pemerintah atau lembaga induknya. Perpustakaan tidak dapat menyalahkan anggaran yang kecil tersebut atas keterbatasan penyelenggaraan layanan dan kegiatan perpustakaan. Perpustakaan harus bernegosiasi dengan kenyataan yang dijalaninya. Program “Sahabat Perpustakaan” dapat menjadi salah satu program yang mampu memberikan implikasi mendapatkan dana baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Program Sahabat Perpustakaan tidak hanya dapat dijalankan bagi perpustakaan yang mempunyai anggaran terbatas maupun tidak terbatas. Perpustakaan Nasional RI menyelenggarakan program Sahabat Perpustakaan sejak tahun 2014. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana program Sahabat Perpustakaan menyumbangkan implikasi terhadap dukungan dana. Hasilnya ditemukan bahwa para sahabat perpustakaan terlihat mengupayakan kegiatan kolaborasi dengan sahabatnya, Perpustakaan Nasional RI, dengan sepenuh hati, pikiran dan tenaga. Demikian sebaliknya dari Perpustakaan Nasional RI. Nilai saling berbagi, saling menutupi, dan gotong royong terlihat pada program Sahabat Perpustakaan. Perpustakaan UIN Raden Fatah Palembang sudah di mulai sejak 2015. Namun sejauh ini belum diketahui apakah sudah digunakan secara maksimal dan sudah memenuhi kebutuhan pengguna atau belum. Untuk itu peneliti merasa perlu untuk melakukan evaluasi penggunaan OPAC sebagai sarana temu kembali informasi di perpustakaan. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan evaluasi sumatif. Evaluasi sumatif dilaksanakan untuk menentukan sejauh mana sesuatu program mempunyai nilai kemanfaatan. Data didapat dengan cara observasi dan menyebarkan angket ke para pengunjung perpustakaan. The research applies descriptive research with quantitative approach. Based on the data acquired: (1) The students’ knowledge toward electronic journal subscribed is adequately high. 87,9% students realize existence of electronic journal service, 81,8% reference resource uses electronic media, and 49,5% utilizes electronic journal; (2) The electronic journal utilization level is 86,2% which utilizes electronic journal. Electronic journal utilization level as reference material is relatively high, because from 86,2% students which utilize electronic journal, 40% utilizes it 2-3 times in a month. 34,7% utilizes electronic journal with duration less than 2 hours, with downloading electronic journal collection searched, 34,7% uses 2 articles as reference material for thesis; (3) Obstacles in utilizing electronic journal are 52% caused by electronic journal collection mostly using English, and searched collection are not available. Observation and interviews are used to know the librarian opinion about the opportunities and challenges in the implementation of the social media-based library services platform in STAIN Kudus, Central Java, Indonesia. STAIN Kudus library have the opportunity to implement social media-based services including information the collection of books, books lease extended time, expanding the network and communication between librarians and readers. Limited infrastructure, the limited number of librarians, the limited number of students who have the device to access the social media are the challenges faced by library. Strengthening the librarian resources, training, and the leader policy will open the opportunity to implement social media-based services. Era media sosial dan kemajuan internet menjadi tantangan bagi setiap perpustakaan untuk tetap mempertahankan konsistensinya sebagai pelayan nomor satu dalam hal persebaran keilmuan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peluang dan tantangan pelayanan perpustakan berbasis media sosial dari perspektif pustakawan STAIN Kudus. Teknik observasi dan wawancara untuk mengetahui pendapatpustakawan tentang peluang dan tantangan penerapan media sosial sebagai alat bantu pelayanan di perpustakaan STAIN Kudus, Jawa Tengah Indonesia. Hasilnya adalah perpustakaan STAIN Kudus mempunyai peluang untuk menerapkan pelayanan berbasis media sosial yang diantaranya adalah:informasi koleksi buku, informasi perubahan waktu pelayanan, memperpanjang masa peminjaman buku, memperluas jaringan komunikasi antar pustakawan dan pemustaka. Sedangkan tantangan yang dihadapi di antaranya adalah: terbatasnya sarana dan prasarana, terbatasnya jumlah pustakawan, terbatasnya jumlah mahasiswa yang memiliki perangkat untuk mengakses media sosial. Media sosial dapat mengubah pekerjaan pustakawan yang berhubungan dengan komunikasi dengan pemustaka, baik perseorangan maupun pada level perpustakaan. Media sosial merubah cara untuk berinteraksi, berbagi, dan menjalin hubungan. Beragam informasi muncul bagaikan air laut yang tak terbendung penyebarannya sehingga pemustaka dituntut harus bijak dalam memilih dan menggunakannya. Gelombang berita bohong semakin terasa dengan hadirnya media sosial. Media sosial menjadi tantangan bagi para pustakawan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi literasi media dengan teknologi baru.
