Research on the nature of faculty resilience, however, remains sparse.</p><p><strong>Purpose: </strong>The purpose of this study was to contribute to the understanding of nurse faculty resilience by describing examples of specific ways that a group of newly hired nursing faculty enacted resilience during their first few years on the job.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Transcripts from one-on-one interviews with 23 faculty in 7 U.S. states were analyzed in a secondary analysis, which generated exemplars of resilience in practice.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Faculty expressed resilience through specific measures that included positive self-talk, reframing of adverse events, drawing analogies to familiar experience, asserting self-worth by helping others, and extensive social networking.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>These actions enabled faculty to find meaning and support in difficult circumstances.</p>","PeriodicalId":54706,"journal":{"name":"Nurse Educator","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2025-01-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143016625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this study explored the priorities of faculty in baccalaureate nursing programs for selecting primary textbooks.</p><p><strong>Purpose: </strong>The study aimed to identify the ranking of essential characteristics in nursing textbooks, including content, general characteristics, supplemental resources, organization, and specific considerations about electronic textbooks.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Using a cross-sectional design, a descriptive survey was conducted among faculty members across the United States.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Results from 59 faculty participants demonstrated a strong preference for textbooks emphasizing clinical judgment and application to practice, with content being the top priority. Additionally, instructor resources, such as test banks and teaching strategies, were prioritized within supplemental resources. People with disabilities are at higher risk for health problems, affecting their overall quality of life and care experience. Simulation-based learning (SBL) enables students to apply cognitive, affective, and psychomotor competencies through simulated experiential activities in realistic environments. Research is limited on the integration of disability into SBL nursing education.</p><p><strong>Aim: </strong>To appraise and synthesize extant literature on the integration of disability in SBL in prelicensure nursing programs.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>This review identified and synthesized 18 research articles describing the implementation of disability SBL in prelicensure nursing programs.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Four themes were identified substantiating the importance of integrating disability into SBL: knowledge and understanding, communication confidence, empathy, and enlightened attitudes.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Disability SBL strategies are integral to achieving learning outcomes related to patient-centered care. There is limited literature regarding staff burnout and its manifestations in nursing colleges and schools.</p><p><strong>Purpose: </strong>This study evaluated academic nurse leaders' perceptions of burnout and mitigation strategies in colleges and schools of nursing.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A descriptive, cross-sectional survey examined burnout and mitigation strategies among associate deans, business officers, and members of the Organizational Leadership Network (n = 105).</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Among academic leaders, 57.14% noted that staff burnout was either a notable or a major challenge. Resignations (56.86%) and difficulties in backfilling staff positions (54.90%) were the 2 most common manifestations of staff burnout. However, only a small percentage had an active burnout mitigation strategy for faculty (13.33%) and staff (6.67%).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>There is a disconnect between acknowledging burnout as a pressing concern and implementing effective mitigation strategies. Nursing students, however, consistently report negative attitudes toward caring for geriatric patients.</p><p><strong>Purpose: </strong>The purpose was to assess undergraduate nursing student perceptions of care for the geriatric population, how their nursing curriculum influenced these perceptions, and any perceived curricular changes, didactic or clinical, that could potentially improve students' preparedness and desire to seek a career in geriatric nursing.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Using a convergent parallel mixed methods approach, senior prelicensure nursing students completed a Likert-scale survey with additional open-ended questions to assess perceptions of geriatric care and how the current nursing curriculum relates to those perceptions.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Quantitative data identified that most students believed the didactic curriculum prepared them for geriatric care but did not increase their desire to work with geriatric patients. Qualitative data identified negative stereotypes and clinical experiences and revealed a lack of desire for geriatric care.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Lack of desire for geriatric care was the norm for participants.
