This reinforces the need to incorporate efforts on port environmental management. In this context, Ecosystem-Based Environmental Management presents itself as a viable and essential alternative to management in Brazil and worldwide. In this article, a methodology was elaborated to support the prioritization of short medium and long term actions of port environmental management based on ecosystems, using Porto Alegre Port, RS, Brazil as a case study. Recommendations for management actions related to environmental systems and non-compliance in port activities were proposed and ranked. As an analysis tool, the Driver – Pressure – State– Impact – Response (DPSIR) integrated to the Ecosystems and Services Matrix (MES) was used to indicate the cause and effect relationships of human interventions on ecosystems and the potential loss of ecosystem services. A key factor was identifying the Port's non-compliance in the DPSIR matrix. Was produced a cost-effective and simplified model that can support the creation of an environmental agenda, reaching a more practical and applied level. However, environmental policy formulation and implementation have been a potent tool in preventing and managing these threats. The study employed a systematic review approach, utilizing 6 search engines and a mathematical method to select relevant studies. It assessed both post- and ex-ante conditions of key environmental policy implementation in Ghana, analysing peer-reviewed articles, government policy documents, and technical reports. This comprehensive approach examined policy formulation, implementation, and impacts, identifying barriers such as governance challenges, public participation, and socio-economic constraints to evaluate policy effectiveness. Environmental policies have played key roles in preventing land-related conflicts, alleviating food production and security, enhancing water resource provision, protection, and conservation, combating climate change and its associated impacts, protecting forest and wildlife resources, reducing bushfires, and improving sanitation. It was further identified that all the policies considered in the study had not addressed all their objectives. These shortcomings were primarily ascribed to institutional constraints, encompassing infrastructural inadequacies, deficits in personnel, financial resources, technological insufficiencies, and equipment limitations. The suboptimal communication and awareness dissemination of policies, coupled with subpar community involvement and adherence, also played pivotal roles. Political interventions and disruptions further compounded the situation, alongside deficiencies in the coordination among regulatory bodies. These multifaceted challenges have consistently impeded the productive implementation of environmental policies in Ghana. Four bibliographic databases were queried using several key phrases related to this topic. Reasonable modeling approaches exist that recognize and emulate landowner behavior through transition probabilities informed through sampling or statistical models, or through knowledge gained by communicating with landowner stakeholders. Assumptions regarding both spatial extent and spatial resolution relate directly to data storage requirements and the capacity of a model to accommodate the desired simulations. The agility of a landscape model to produce information suitable for comparing alternative scenarios depends on the flexibility of search parameters and the capability of the data to adequately represent alternative future states. Verification processes and statistical tests are used to support the credibility of simulated outcomes, as errors and associated uncertainty (random and process-related) can arise based on the data employed and how models are developed. Realistic modeling of landscape sustainability may require integration of natural processes and socio-economic concerns, although often this scope of analysis is lacking or limited. Within the hotel industry, the accommodation option with the highest levels of water consumption, multiple mechanisms and appliances can substantially reduce water consumption. However, without guests’ acceptance, commitment and participation, the effectiveness of these measures will remain limited. This article aims to determine to what extent the personal values of tourists staying in Mallorca during 2021 and 2022 are predictive of in-room water conservation habit patterns and what such values could add to the more commonly studied sociodemographic and leisure activities of tourists. A hierarchical regression model was performed to explore if personal values could add more robustness in explaining water conservation habits. Results indicate a significant improvement in explained variance, providing more robustness to the model. Tourists who more strongly endorse biospheric values and altruistic values display more frequent water conservation habits. Conversely, tourists with stronger egoistic values generally save less water. This paper examines the relationship between human migration and land use change in five communes in and around the Menabe Antimena protected area, a critical biodiversity hotspot in western Madagascar. We analysed poverty and climate differences between migrants' origins and destinations by conducting 92 semi-structured interviews, 46 with migrants in Menabe and 46 with residents of Androy, a region contributing to migration flow. We also investigated population dynamics and ecological indicators, including forest cover and number of VIIRS active fires detected weighted with precipitations between 2017 and 2022. Results show that migrants moved to areas with more rainfall and less poverty, with 89.1 % leaving their home villages due to famine and poor lifestyle. The number of migrants entering the protected area has increased 3.2 times with 63.0 % of them directly involved in illegal agricultural practices. The forest cover in areas of communes inside the protected area declined by 22.1 % though 36.4 % outside, while weighted active fires rose by 24.7 % inside and 55.9 % outside, with higher fire occurrences in communes with larger forest. Among migrants, 45.7 % plan to return home once they have saved sufficient funds, 28.3 % intend to settle permanently, and 13.0 % aim to relocate to more productive areas after clearing local forest. Employing a multi-method approach combining stakeholder valuations and biophysical mapping, we assess the spatial distribution of WEFE-related ecosystem services across the basin and compare them to current conservation measures. Findings reveal a heterogeneous distribution of ecosystem services across the basin, with environment-related services, such as carbon sequestration and environmental quality, dominating spatially (56 %), particularly in the northeastern part of the basin, while food-related services (27 %) are concentrated in the western and eastern regions. Water-related services (15 %) show highest delivery around major lakes, whilst stakeholder valuations highlight the importance of water provision, artisanal fisheries, and biodiversity across all sectors. Analysis of current protected areas indicates their moderate effectiveness in conserving key ecosystem services, with better representation of environment (17 %) and water-related services (12 %) than food (8 %) and energy services (5 %). We identified critical conservation-development conflict zones along the Uganda-Kenya border and in Rwanda-Burundi, where competing priorities for WEFE resources require integrated management approaches. Our conservation gap assessment shows significant shortfalls in meeting international protected targets, particularly for energy and food-related services, which is most pronounced in Rwanda and Burundi. This study addresses these challenges by proposing a regional alliance mechanism that integrates stochastic differential game theory in order to optimise pollution control strategies in an uncertain environment. The primary objective is to develop a dynamic framework that captures the strategic interactions between regions and stochastic environmental factors, such as climate variability and technological advancements. A stochastic differential game model is constructed that incorporates dynamic equations for emission reduction technologies, pollution mitigation efforts and demand responses. Three governance scenarios are analysed: self-sufficiency, a unilateral alliance and a major alliance. Our main findings suggest that forming stable regional alliances significantly improves pollution control efficiency compared to isolated actions. Major alliances achieve the highest profitability due to resource integration and coordinated strategies. Sensitivity analysis reveals the pivotal role of technological effectiveness coefficients and cost parameters in shaping regional decisions. Notably, random factors introduce volatility, emphasising the need for adaptive governance mechanisms. Based on these insights, policy recommendations include fostering regional alliances through legal and financial incentives, prioritising green technology R&amp;D, and establishing dynamic monitoring systems to balance economic and environmental outcomes. Two hundred carp farmers were surveyed in seven blocks and three districts, utilising a semi-structured interview schedule to obtain data. The data was analysed using both inferential and descriptive statistical approaches, which include a multiple-stepwise logistic forward regression model. The survey recorded 23 distinct chemical and biological substances used by farmers frequently, indicating a widespread dependence on water and soil treatment chemicals as well as disinfectants. The results suggest that the size of the pond, the total production of the pond, the gender of the farmer, the experience in fish farming, and the number of crops per year have a significant impact on the use of inputs (p &lt; 0.05). Significantly, the analysis revealed no notable variation in disease prevalence or perceived ecological consequences among the districts. This study offers a statistically rigorous framework for comprehending the present patterns of input utilisation in carp aquaculture in the region. The discovered influencing factors provide useful insights for policymakers and stakeholders promoting sustainable aquaculture practices.
