Utilizing the extended theoretical model of communal coping, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 20 family triads (i.e., separated parent, separated child, primary caregiver) who were experiencing or had recently experienced immigration-related family separation. We explored cultural and structural elements associated with communally or individually coping, and we considered why family members, all of whom experienced separation stress, might cope differently. Among the different types of family members, gender norms were related to communally coping, relying on extended family for support, and protective buffering. Physical distance, as well as limited technology access and literacy also hindered communal coping. When exploring within-family-triad experiences, three themes were apparent: (a) one-sided communal coping, (b) protective buffering at the cost of one’s own needs, and (c) communal coping impeded by relational strain. Our findings emphasize the importance of considering the multidimensional nature of a stressor (i.e., family separation) when determining whether people are communally coping; how cultural and structural elements relate to coping; and including multiple family members’ perspectives.","PeriodicalId":53925,"journal":{"name":"Fonseca-Journal of Communication","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-01-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80165958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Las películas que optan a este premio deben mostrar el alcance universal de los valores europeos y la diversidad de las tradiciones de Europa, así como iluminar su proceso de integración.El objetivo de esta investigación es verificar la contribución a la diversidad cultural de las películas que ganaron el LUX Prize en la primera etapa de este premio (2007-2019). La metodología empleada incluye aspectos cuantitativos y cualitativos. Por un lado, obtención y análisis de variables; y, por otro lado, análisis del discurso desde la perspectiva del cosmopolitismo crítico.Los resultados se centran en la diversidad dentro de los largometrajes. Diversidad geográfica y demográfica –países y etnias de los personajes principales y secundarios–; y, diversidad de ideas –puntos de vista y perspectivas sociales, políticas y culturales– representadas. El análisis muestra elementos interesantes relacionados con la familia, la educación y la lengua.Las conclusiones permiten confirmar la aportación del LUX Prize a la diversidad cultural y, por tanto, la adecuación de esta iniciativa del Parlamento Europeo.","PeriodicalId":53925,"journal":{"name":"Fonseca-Journal of Communication","volume":"33 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91245944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Este trabajo explora dicho fenómeno desde el periodismo local: cuantifica la producción de piezas de opinión durante dos semanas en 53 medios locales de la comunidad autónoma de Castilla-La Mancha, analiza las piezas (n=662) y observa los factores que indicen en el desequilibrio mediante seis entrevistas con mujeres opinadoras. Los datos se interpretan a partir de la reflexión sobre cómo las lógicas periodísticas legitiman como voces autorizadas aquellas que se presentan con confianza, carisma y seguridad, reforzando las condiciones estructurales de privilegio de los varones. La solución no reside en favorecer la incorporación de mujeres excepcionales como oradoras, sino en repensar qué adoptan los medios como discurso legítimo, y los modos en que promover la justicia comunicativa.","PeriodicalId":53925,"journal":{"name":"Fonseca-Journal of Communication","volume":"3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76364083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En este sentido, el artículo busca identificar las áreas de competencia digital que la literatura referencia con menor desarrollo en los docentes universitarios, así como las estrategias y necesidades de formación que en torno a este campo. Para responder a estos objetivos se utiliza una metodología de revisión sistemática de la literatura, se describe el protocolo creado, se presentan los resultados y se establecen como conclusiones principales que el área con menor desarrollo de la CDD es la de “enseñanza y aprendizaje” (de acuerdo con el referente DigComEdu), siendo necesario la implementación de planes de formación docente centrados en la práctica y la renovación metodológica, utilizando formatos ágiles y flexibles ajustados a las condiciones particulares de los equipos de profesores.","PeriodicalId":53925,"journal":{"name":"Fonseca-Journal of Communication","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89592911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to the public, these messages reach journalists, who have turned these platforms into another tool for their professional work. The aim of this study is to reflect on how the nature of publications can affect the work of journalists who use this content as raw material to work with. In order to explore this more deeply, a quantitative approach is proposed, consisting of a metric analysis of 1,280 Facebook posts by 10 political forces and a survey of 1,004 people, representing the universe of the Spanish population. The results show that the parties disseminate unidirectional and propagandistic content on Facebook during campaigns, marginalising dialogue and interaction. This restricts journalists’ ability to converse with political parties through the social network, which at the same time is impacted by messages whose veracity is secondary to their objective of reaching as many internet users as possible.","PeriodicalId":53925,"journal":{"name":"Fonseca-Journal of Communication","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88153800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Este estudio analiza la comunicación digital de universidades hispanohablantes a través de la aplicación de mensajería Telegram, para identificar las características de los canales más activos.Para ello se han localizado y analizado las cuentas oficiales de las universidades más activas de Ecuador, Colombia, Perú, Chile y España, de las que se seleccionaron 15 canales oficiales. De forma complementaria, se realizaron encuestas abiertas a los responsables de tres universidades españolas destacadas en el uso de Telegram. A través de una metodología cuantitativa y cualitativa aplicada a categorías extraídas de los canales de Telegram, se han observado los formatos, objetivos y tema de los mensajes, así como el uso de emojis, etiquetas y enlaces. Como conclusiones, destacan el uso unidireccional del canal como herramienta de comunicación; el uso preferente de la imagen como formato de apoyo al texto; y la identificación de tres tipologías de canales, según el objetivo de cada universidad. Mientras en los países latinoamericanos el uso de Telegram en universidades como canal de comunicación es minoritario, en España su uso está más extendido, aunque con comunidades incipientes.","PeriodicalId":53925,"journal":{"name":"Fonseca-Journal of Communication","volume":"136 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75140549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
