Using these tools, the design process can be simplified and reduce the number of costly physical prototypes and tests. The multi-body model developed in MATLAB® Simscape was used to approximate the loads and boundary conditions on the frame, while the ANSYS software was used for topology optimization. The resulting motorcycle frame was found to weigh 9.48 kg. The simulation results also showed that the proposed frame design met the required safety and performance criteria. The methodology presented in this paper is not limited to electric motorcycle tubular frames and can be applied to other types of vehicle frames or structures. The use of simulations allows for the exploration of different design options and the identification of optimal solutions with minimal cost and effort. The combination of MATLAB® Simulink and ANSYS is a powerful tool for the design and optimization of complex structures, providing accurate results and saving valuable time and resources.","PeriodicalId":53603,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Applied and Theoretical Mechanics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134913593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The solution relies on the generation of motion using a «bang-bang» profile. The problem is solved in two stages. Firstly, the dynamic decoupling of the manipulator is accomplished through the redistribution of the moving masses and the relocation of one of the actuators. This leads to the decoupling of the equations of motion for different degrees of mobility. It is worth mentioning that this solution represents a symbiosis of two distinct approaches: the redistribution of link masses and the relocation of one of the manipulator actuators. This innovative approach to dynamic decoupling has not been previously proposed. At the second stage, the input torques of the actuators are reduced by generating motion profiles for the manipulator's links using the «bang-bang» law. Thus, thanks to the developed methodology, it becomes possible to reduce the energy consumption of high-speed manipulators by choosing the optimal planned motion of their links. To evaluate the effectiveness of this approach, numerical simulations are carried out using the ADAMS software. A comparative analysis of the trajectories generated by the fifth-order polynomial profile, widely used in industrial robots, and the «bang-bang» profile has been performed. The simulation results show act, the use of the «bang-bang» profile allows one to reduce the maximum values of the input torques. The developed technique allows designers to create high-speed manipulators featuring decoupled dynamics and diminished energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":53603,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Applied and Theoretical Mechanics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134913204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The review assessed the impact of placing aluminum foam in single- and double-walled circular. A parametric evaluation was performed concerning the circular with the single- and double-walled variants. Validation results were contrasted against the documented experimental data, and a noteworthy alignment was observed. The foam strain rate is vital in regulating the crushing properties of the foam-loaded circular, and this factor must be considered. The outcomes also indicate the interaction between the circular wall and foam core has a varying deformation category and specific energy absorption. Foam loading had a similar effect concerning double-walled circular loads with foam. Moreover, evaluations were performed to determine the impact of core thickness and impact velocity on the crashworthiness performance. Further, it was discovered that a rise in core thickness for double-walled foam-loaded circular enhances crushing characteristics until the walls still interact. Subsequently, any rise in core thickness leads to the response aligning more with the single-walled circular energy absorber of a high-speed train.","PeriodicalId":53603,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Applied and Theoretical Mechanics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42908632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The DLF models, which already exist, provide particular coefficients only for specific pacing frequencies. On the other hand, our study presents DLF coefficients as a continuous function for frequencies in the range of 1 Hz – 3 Hz. The newly presented DLF model is based on the measurement of 15 random people and compared with the experimental data. Each of these people was measured by a force plate in the frequency range of 1 Hz – 3 Hz. Since we know who exactly was present during the experiment, we also monitored the contact forces produced by these people at frequencies identical to some natural frequencies of the footbridge according to the experimental setup. These measured forces were used directly as the input into the calculation process and compared with the experiment too. Subsequent dynamic calculations of the forced vibration were carried out by Modal Decomposition Method. This method requires a mode shape as one of the inputs, these mode shapes were calculated by the Subspace Iteration Method using commercial software Dlubal RFEM 5.03. Numerical integration of the equations of motion (forced vibration analysis) was done by self-written MATLAB codes and routines. At the end of the article, we summarize the results of theoretical dynamic analysis obtained by theoretical modeling of these vandals. The main outcomes are in the determination of the continuous functions for DLFs and their phase angles based on the experimental results. These values are crucial e.g. for designers, who need to compute the response of a footbridge or a grandstand which could be excited by swaying or bobbing vandals or spectators. Obtained and evaluated continuous functions for DLFs were compared by literature where researchers presented some DLFs for discrete sets of frequencies, which produced a good level of accordance.","PeriodicalId":53603,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Applied and Theoretical Mechanics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47406182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective of this paper is to estimate Thomsen's parameters (ε, γ, δ) and geo-mechanical properties from the core samples by Machine Learning and a comparative analysis with the conventional mathematical approach; to place emphasis on the use of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in the Oil & Gas industry and to highlight its future potential to help in the digital transformation of the industry. Two different Machine Learning models, the Ordinary Least Square method and the Random Forest method, were used to predict the aforementioned geo-mechanical properties from the wave velocity and confining pressure data. In this study, it has been observed that the approaches employed in the estimate of geo-mechanical properties are rapid and reliable (about 93.5 percent accuracy) and may be applied in geo-mechanical modeling for wellbore stability analysis for safe and cost-effective well plan and design on a large scale. The analysis in this work indicates that Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio are heavily influenced by the anisotropy parameters. Finally, a comparison is made with mathematical approaches. The machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches shown here are excellently matched with mathematical approaches. The geo-mechanical parameters and Thomsen parameters and be computed with reasonable accuracy with the help of our proposed ML algorithms. Our proposed ML model can predict the geo-mechanical parameters and Thomsen parameters from the velocity profile directly without complex mathematical computation. The mathematical model would have required us to first determine the stiffness constants for the prediction of that parameters. Additionally, we may conclude that a machine learning model needs to be trained with more modeling data to predict the right values with a smaller error margin. The number of data points required to train a model has a significant impact on the model's overall accuracy. Therefore, additional modeling data is needed to learn about and comprehend the intricacies, patterns, and interactions between provided input and output variables.","PeriodicalId":53603,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Applied and Theoretical Mechanics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45125268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the number of long vehicles, such as trucks or buses, using these traffic routes is increasing significantly. On the other hand, to perform this maneuver characterized by a fast and a slow vehicle, the engine of the fast one must have sufficient elasticity to achieve the required acceleration in the high gears, and in this sense, the turbo engine can provide this performance, with small engines and fuel savings. In this work, we develop an algorithm to simulate both naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines, fitting their characteristics based on an exponential model and comparing them with those on test benches.","PeriodicalId":53603,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Applied and Theoretical Mechanics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44856896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spatial lateral vibrations of the drill string modeled as a rotating elastic rod are studied. The developed nonlinear model generalizes and refines the well-known linear models of rod vibrations with the considered effect. The obtained numerical results demonstrate the influence of geometric nonlinearity, the gravitational energy of the drilling system, additional Coriolis and centrifugal forces as well as the parameters of the fluid flow on spatial vibrations of the drill strings. It allows for giving some recommendations on the choice of the drilling system parameters for ensuring safe drilling operations.","PeriodicalId":53603,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Applied and Theoretical Mechanics","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41469622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The investigations were organised into two steps. Firstly, the connection was preloaded in a three-pass cycle. Then, the connection was subjected to the cyclically varying force imposed at an angle of 30 degrees to the joined components' contact surfaces to produce both compressive and shear loads in the connection. The connection modelling was performed in the finite element method convention. The joined components were discretized using three-dimensional finite elements and the fasteners were modelled as special elements consisting of flexible beams, stiff heads, and stiff nuts.
