Then, the connection was subjected to the cyclically varying force imposed at an angle of 30 degrees to the joined components' contact surfaces to produce both compressive and shear loads in the connection. The connection modelling was performed in the finite element method convention. The joined components were discretized using three-dimensional finite elements and the fasteners were modelled as special elements consisting of flexible beams, stiff heads, and stiff nuts. Abstract
