First, they stay in Buenos Aires, and then, they settle down in different points of the Country. The provinces Misiones, Entre Rios and Tucuman become the geographic spaces that show the desired opportunity for itself growth and definitive residence. In the city of San Miguel de Tucuman, in the Argentinian Northwest, stay the brothers Alberto and German Garcia Hamilton. In the present paper we try to identify the cultural traces of this Uruguayans brothers in the Argentinian literary field. They do their first contributions from the El Orden, a newspaper from Tucuman, between 1898 and 1900. Our hypothesis is that Garcia Hamilton brothers make important contributions to the culture of that time thanks to a parental and friendship net marked by their own cultural trajectory. As conclusion, we can say that this parental and friendship micro-net reproduce in low scale the existent net between the interior of Uruguay and the interior of Argentina stablished in parallel to the intellectual life development of port cultural metropolis from both riversides of River Plate.","PeriodicalId":52962,"journal":{"name":"Humanidades","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80816115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this means various things. Many of the diagnosis about the West world was based on Spengler’s paradigm, which arrived in Argentina through Ernesto Quesada. His reading of German, the dissemination of these ideas in courses, conferences, books and articles, and his signaling of America as a replacement for that world decline helped him to be recognized as a promoter of “Americanism”. However, those readings raised criticism on theoretically and politically controversial aspects. In the article we deal with these debates, reading the critics that appeared in the Revista de Filosofia since 1923. If many of Quesada’s articles were published there, several of the sharpest comments also appeared from the pen of its director and frequent authors. We go through the arguments, reading Quesada and his critics, to notice the conceptual axes through which the debate took place. The objective is to advance in the recognition of some pertinent distinctions when defining the “Americanism” of the 20th.","PeriodicalId":52962,"journal":{"name":"Humanidades","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82544622","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The slave trade was a fundamental part of its inquiries, requiring an effort to unravel the emergence of strictly economic thinking regarding the African black slave trade to America. Thus, the moral problem present in the act of capture, which has been defined in the specialized literature as “the problem of slavery”, was overshadowed by an incipient economic reason that can only be understood since the emergence of modern economic science. and the proliferation of a sovereign state power that was building in turn on the margins of the world-system peripheral spaces of exclusion, appropriation and confinement.","PeriodicalId":52962,"journal":{"name":"Humanidades","volume":"139 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72640498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, J. Tellkamp (2004) criticized these interpretations, pointing out that in his opinion a complete reading of Arte de los Contractos shows a less forceful opposition than was attributed to it. For him, the criticism of slavery that can be read there, analyzed from Political Philosophy perspective, is, at least, ambiguous. In this article I will review Albornoz’s position on slavery, and, assuming some of the aspects proposed by Tellkamp, I will offer an alternative explanation for this alleged ambiguity. I will try to show that in the case of Albornoz there is a conscious attempt to have certain discussions, usually raised in Philosophy of Law or in Political Philosophy, in the epistemological framework of the Philosophy of Economics. If this is correct, then Albornoz uses an alternative argumentation to the usual ones, and for this reason, looking at his work from this perspective, it shows a strong critic of slavery.","PeriodicalId":52962,"journal":{"name":"Humanidades","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91052506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It makes a general presentation of the publication, which can be considered an expression of the Hispanic-American and Argentine cultural context of the early 20th century. In particular, it is concerned with gauging the Americanist purpose that its director intended to impress upon it, while establishing how his concern for the national was translated into three defined moments in the trajectory of the publication: the Centennial of May, the electoral reform of 1912 and associative sociability. At last, and also with reference to Pena’s topics of interest, it places it in relation to the development of historical discipline in Argentina. To carry out this study, we worked longitudinally with the magazine’s complete collection, as the main source of information, which was complemented with documentation consulted in David Pena’s personal archive and in other publications of that time. From an axis of analysis that evaluates the imprint that its director marked, the article contributes to the knowledge of an Argentine cultural magazine so far little frequented by specialists.","PeriodicalId":52962,"journal":{"name":"Humanidades","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81733144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this article, we connect the writings of Diego de Avendano S.J. (1594–1688) to the conceptual history of the slavery of black people. We highlight in particular the connection that Avendano promotes between the legitimacy of the slave trade, slave ownership and probabilism. This new perspective is acknowledged and criticized by Francisco Jose de Jaca O.F.M. Cap. (c. 1645–1689) and Epifanio de Moirans O.F.M. Cap. (1644–1689). The main purpose of the present essay is to describe and interpret the reactions of these two authors to Avendano’s discussion. Their anti-slavery works provide views on slavery in the ius gentium, freedom as a good and a right, and the insufficiency of moral probabilism as a doctrine when applied to the problem of the slavery of Africans.","PeriodicalId":52962,"journal":{"name":"Humanidades","volume":"36 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89114406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
