This study sought to verify whether better levels of functional capacity are associated with better mood patterns. Methods: Seventy-nine postmenopausal women (age = 70.3 ± 7.1 years) were then divided in four groups according to quartiles of functional capacity. The Brunel mood states scale were used to assess mood state and profile. Functional capacity assessment included measurements of handgrip strength, flexibility (sit and reach test), lower-limb strength (5 sit-to-stand test), balance (timed-up and go [TUG] test), and walking performance (6 minutes walking test). Results: The results showed higher functional capacity values are not associated with a better mood profile, even when the values obtained are classified as good or above average within their reference values. Conclusion: It was concluded that there is no association between the best functional capacity condition with the best mood profile. Perhaps this association is possible, if individuals are included in physical exercise programs.\u0000Keywords: Mood States; Funcional capacity; Psychological Behavior; Aging.","PeriodicalId":52896,"journal":{"name":"Retos de la Direccion","volume":"113 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80560323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this work was to analyze the effects on students' conceptions towards functional diversity after an intervention carried out during the 2021-2022 academic school year in four groups of fifth and sixth graders of a regular public school in Valencia (Spain). Self-confidence is an aspect of the human psyche that must be nurtured and developed. Self-confidence denotes the ability to do something confidently and without fear of failure. Confidence is also part of the subconscious and is unaffected by emotions and feelings. Therefore, it requires a method that can be accomplished by controlling emotions, feelings, and imagery. The volleyball learning course necessitates good psychological conditions for students to be confident when practicing in small groups and later when conducting teaching practice at school. In this course students are equipped with basic techniques in playing volleyball and how to construct volleyball learning tools, then students are able to practice teaching in small groups. This study employs a qualitative approach with a classroom action research design that follows the lecture schedule. The research procedure is divided into two cycles, with each cycle consisting of five stages: planning, action, observation, evaluation, and reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles and the time required was 5 weeks for each cycle so that the total time required was 10 weeks with two cycles. The research subjects were 50 students who took the volleyball learning course. Data collection methods include observations and interviews. The results of the study show that in an effort to increase student self-confidence, the strategy chosen is role-playing which provides broad opportunities for students to explore themselves in order to be able to demonstrate their quality in front of other friends to become teachers in the teaching practice of the material chosen by each student.
