This study was conducted using a qualitative approach. The sources of this study are the Washington Post and Lost Angeles Times news on the internet. The data were analyzed based on the theory about presupposition triggers from Levinson (1983) and Yule (1996). The data collection method in this study is Metode Simak and Metode Catat which are proposed by Sudaryanto (2018). The result of this study is the most dominant types of triggers presuppositions which found in the Washington Post online news is a definite description with 29 occurrences (26%) and 37 occurrences (24%)in Lost Angeles online news. Both the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times online news use the clef-construction as part of the lexical and non-restrictive clause as part of structural which more dominant than others. When it applies to the language in a movie, it may furnish new effects or fresh insights into an idea or a subject. This study explored the figure of speech representing religious education values in Moustafa Akkad's The Message movie. As qualitative descriptive research, the source of data was the script of the movie analyzed from the sociolinguistic point of view. Using a survey method, this study assigned teachers, students, and administrators in SMAN 1 of West Brayat, Central Lombok Regency. Burhanudin","doi":"10.30957/lingua.v15i2.526","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30957/lingua.v15i2.526","url":null,"abstract":" The research was inspired by the beauty of the language used by the speaker called pembayun in the traditional sorong serah ceremony, the bridal application of Sasak people in Lombok. The tradition does happen however, young generations would have neglected the meaning denoted in the languages of the ceremony that contains high values of culture, wisdom and religiously. This study used content analysis and ethnography. Data were collected using observation, interview, documentation, and records. Informants that were the native speakers of Sasak and Sumbawa and have the authority on the traditional ceremony were selected. Parlindungan","doi":"10.30605/ETHICALLINGUA.V5I2.716","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30605/ETHICALLINGUA.V5I2.716","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of this study was to investigate whether there was significant difference on the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text between those who were taught through Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method and those who were not. Forty-nine students were selected as the sample and quasi-experimental, non-randomized pre-test and post-test design were employed. The analysis of covariance showed that the students who were taught by using CIRC method statistically outperformed those who were not on their reading comprehension of narrative text, (F (1, 48) = 13.56, p < .05). This result implies that CIRC is an effective method to teach reading comprehension, particularly on narrative text. Since this study only focused on narrative text, future researchers might be interested to seek the effect of CIRC on other text genres. The research method applied in the research is qualitative research while the theory that is used in the research is the theory of deixis by Yule that is used to analyze the deictic expressions in the story book. The researcher uses qualitative research because the data of this research are limited to the words or phrases having deictic expressions in the book of Nasreddin, A Man with Thousands Ideas. The aims of this research are to identify the type of deixis and explain the references that appear in the book. The result shows that there are three types of deixis that appear in the book.
