It is an unorthodox connection between heterosexual and gay men. The alliance is affected by the facilitating or constraining social forces of affectional orientation and traditional masculinity. The qualitative study sought to explore and analyze the formation and dissolution of straight-gay friendships among 13 Ilocano men recruited through snowball and purposive sampling. Pagtatanong-tanong, an indigenous method of data gathering, was employed. Thematic analysis and investigator triangulation were performed for analysis and validation. Results revealed that for the formation phase, Ilocano men portrayed active and passive roles that shared interest, nourishing personality, and open-mindedness were strong social motivators. Likewise, the causes of possible dissolution were growing intimacy and physical distance. Termination can be either a direct or indirect approach. The understanding of this unorthodox alliance provided communal empathy and acceptance, and carried the mission to educate about the interaction of both communities. Descriptive phenomenology is the research design used in the study. Snowball sampling was utilized to determine the 24 participants of the study. The data was gathered through an online semi-structured interview conducted via Google Meet and Zoom, two video communication applications. Thematic analysis was utilized to develop themes based on the responses from the COVID-19 survivors who served as participants. The study generated four themes with twelve sub-themes. The study revealed that mental health impacts how the participants perceive, feel, behave, and perform, as well as how they plan, handle stress, and interact with others. The participants' mental health has been compromised because of the mandatory isolation, and they expressed a wide range of psychological emotions, including stress, fear, anxiety, and loneliness, that may impact their mental health. Daily communication and entertainment, an optimistic mindset, and praying regularly are the coping mechanisms identified in the study. Coping mechanisms were developed to determine the activities made by the participants to mitigate the impact of mandatory isolation on their mental health. This study determined the levels and significant differences of the variables when grouped according to age, sex, length of service, and department assigned. Moreover, this study determined the relationship between job resiliency, work-life balance, and work values. This study employed a descriptive-correlational research design. One hundred five employees of a Catholic College were surveyed. Mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, and Spearman rho were used to analyze the data. Results showed that the employees have a very high level of job resiliency and a high level of work-life balance and work values. There were no significant differences in the employees' job resiliency, work-life balance, and work values across all variables. Lastly, job resiliency was positively correlated with work-life balance and work values. It can be concluded that employees can overcome, adapt, and cope with the different challenges while balancing their work and personal life and displaying positive work values. Exploring the effects of these factors on the mathematics performance of students who enrolled in classes with diverse ethnicity can provide a better understanding of how to handle this type of educational setup. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between ethnicity, self-concept toward Mathematics, and performance in Math of the Grade 7 students of two boarding schools. A descriptive correlational research design was employed using a survey questionnaire to assess the students' self-concept and the results of the unified institutional test to assess their mathematics performance. The 300 respondents were selected using stratified sampling with their ethnic group as the stratum. The data were treated using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that the students have moderate self–concept of Mathematics in all ethnic groups. Moreover, findings show no significant relationship between the students' ethnicity and self-concept. However, it revealed a significant relationship between ethnicity and performance in Mathematics and self-concept and performance in Mathematics. Hence, a positive sense of identity and self-efficacy can contribute to the better performance of the students in Mathematics. A well-planned disaster risk reduction program is effective in minimizing hazards and casualties. The study determined the extent of disaster preparedness practices of households in the coastal communities of a congressional district in the Philippines, particularly on typhoons, in terms of disaster preparedness literacy, participation in community disaster preparedness, and disaster preparedness on supplies and kit contents. A descriptive-comparative research design was used to administer a researcher-made survey instrument to 341 coastal household members. Statistical techniques such as Kolmogorov Smirnov, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis, Mean, and Standard Deviation were used in the study. The findings revealed a great extent of disaster preparedness practices with significant differences when respondents were grouped according to household income and educational attainment of the household members. However, there were no significant differences when grouped according to household size, type of housing unit, and type of housing structure. Household income is very minimal in purchasing food/kit supplies was identified as the most significant challenge experienced by the households. Caelian","doi":"10.52006/main.v5i2.496","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52006/main.v5i2.496","url":null,"abstract":"Compliance with the provisions of the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Act strengthens the DRRM office in local government units resulting in effectual practices in reducing, minimizing, and mitigating risks and creating its disaster resiliency. This study assessed the compliance of local government units (LGUs) with the provisions of the PDRRM Act in the areas of risk management practices and institutional arrangements and capacities focused on the four thematic areas of disaster. Challenges encountered by DRRM officers and planning coordinators of 32 LGUs were investigated. Using descriptive analysis, the findings revealed a high level of compliance with risk management practices in prevention and mitigation, preparedness, and response and a moderate level of rehabilitation and recovery. As to institutional arrangements and capacities, LGUs also exhibited a high level of compliance with a lower mean on structural mechanisms. When income classification was used as a variable, 4th class LGUs rated moderate; as to location, results were varied. As to the number of hazards, LGUs with nine hazards and more are rated high.
