The beams under study had three layers. The upper and lower layers were of fiber-reinforced concrete with a carbon fiber volume fraction of 0.2%. The middle layer was of concrete with metal reinforcement. Methods : Experimental studies were performed using a pile driver. A falling weight of 450 kg was dropped on a beam from a height of 0.7 m. The authors performed numerical studies based on the finite element method in a full dynamic 3D setting, using the proprietary EFES software suite considering structure fragmentation, formation of contact and free surfaces. Results : In numerical modeling, the reinforcement mesh was clearly defined. The authors studied changes over time in the stress-strain state, and fracture of reinforced-concrete beams under short-term impact loading. They developed a calculation algorithm and procedure that made it possible to analyze and predict behavior of actual structures in a full dynamic 3D setting. They also proposed a model of concrete and fiber-reinforced concrete behavior, considering anisotropy, bimodularity with regard to strength characteristics, plastic properties, and relations between strength and strain rate / pressure. Fracture dynamics in concrete beams reinforced with metal bars was studied. Good agreement of the results with the experimental data was observed.","PeriodicalId":52295,"journal":{"name":"Architecture and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46614926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, proven approaches towards modeling objects of complex forms are presented. Here, the authors mean forms that represent planes bent in three directions, which shall be built according to the rules of the graphical display of drawings. Methods : A toolkit of the Autodesk Revit software (Masses, Model In-Place) is considered together with an additional script created using a visual-programming add-on — Dynamo . The authors formulate approaches to work with complex geometry in Revit that make it possible to model objects of complex forms correctly. Examples of using standard program tools in unusual application logic are given. Since standard tools have limited functionality, it is shown how to use a Dynamo -based script that automates and speeds up the process of creating geometric forms. Results and discussion : Optimization of work with non-standard instances of the project geometry is performed, and a subsequent paradigm for the design of non-standard construction objects is formulated.","PeriodicalId":52295,"journal":{"name":"Architecture and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46240011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, many construction companies in Russia show low competitive ability (in 2016, their competitiveness index was lower than 400). The value of this index depends on the ability to adapt the internal organizational structure and applied technologies to the requirements of the market, i.e. on the innovative activity. At the present time, introduction of technical as well as organizational and economic innovations is complicated. This is due to the fact that most Russian companies do not focus on qualitative changes in the production structure and processes as well as in the management practices applied. Those factors result in low labor efficiency as unqualified workers are engaged, long lead time, etc. Methods: Scientific novelty lies in the development of methods for innovation potential assessment at a construction company, based on technical and economic indicators. The originality of the paper lies in the fact that the results of the authors' research on construction companies in Russia are used for analysis. Results and discussion: The present paper analyzes key factors of construction companies' development and its barriers. The paper aims at substantiating resources facilitating development of construction companies. The research data obtained allow for qualitative and quantitative assessment of the construction industry state in Russia.","PeriodicalId":52295,"journal":{"name":"Architecture and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41295413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the study is to conduct a calculation analysis of the quantomobile force balance and options of its motion in the pitch plane. Methods: Assuming that it is possible for a quantum engine to generate the vertical component of the thrust vector (of anti-gravity orientation), a two-dimensional approach to analyze the quantomobile force balance is used. A generalized force balance equation for all quantomobile motion modes in the longitudinal pitch plane is derived. Five typical motion modes are identified. The graphic images provided represent a part of the combination of analytical actions intended to record and comprehend the distinctive end points and curves. Results: The numerical examples based on the mentioned force balance equation allowed us to construe the quantomobile motion modes in the pitch plane, as well as obtain a picture of uniform course motion of the quantomobile. Discussion. The analysis revealed that it was possible to minimize the thrust for maintaining constant speed under the middle degree of vehicle suspension. The derived force balance equation that matches the 2D option of quantomobile motion in the pitch plane can be expanded to the 3D option of vehicle motion. This will make it possible to assess the dynamics and energetics of quantomobile motion in a three-dimensional space in more detail, as well as compare such vehicles with other vehicles operating in this space, e.g. planes, helicopters, etc.","PeriodicalId":52295,"journal":{"name":"Architecture and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41778957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context the role of Building Information Modelling (BIM), as a support tool for sustainable integrated design, acquires great relevance. The purpose of this study is to investigate BIM potential in both addressing preliminary design choices and supporting complex analysis during the advanced design phase, within the whole sustainable design process. A technological rail building is assumed as a case study: the Operation Control Centre for the new Oman Railway, whose preliminary project was elaborated by the Italian engineering society Italferr s.p.a. Methods: The BIM approach is used to identify possible problems and deficiencies in the preliminary project, which may represent a good basis for a next design improvements proposal. The next phase consists in investigating and experimenting BIM tools potential in supporting the Conceptual Design, by using Autodesk® Revit® and IES VE® software suites, for the modelling and the energy analysis of different conceptual design solutions. Once the optimal building shape is established, the study focuses on the evaluation of sustainability effects brought by the structural building component, in particular for what concerns its materials environmental impact. Results and discussion: The analysis of the preliminary project shows the potential of BIM in the control of many performance parameters of a building in the design phase, revealing all the design problems associated to the lack of an integral multi-disciplinary approach during the initial phases of the process. The possibility of looking into a series of solutions in a quick and in-depth manner permits an accurate assessment of the most adequate form for a building based on the place in which it is set, thus joining current technological design methods to traditional bio-climatic methods, reinstating the strong and inevitable link between site and building.","PeriodicalId":52295,"journal":{"name":"Architecture and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49300897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Purpose of the study: Identify the most significant omissions made during the implementation and repeated adjustments of the original concept. Methods: A comparative analysis of the key provisions of the initial concept and indicators of the currently formed urban environment. Results: An underestimation of a radical change in the urban development situation in the city center caused by the laying of a high-speed highway on the western part of Vasilyevsky Island was revealed. peripheral territories, does not allow it to solve the problems of the development of a highly urbanized environment arising in this process. The facts are outlined, showing how a consistent adjustment of the original concept created the basis for the formation of a peripheral-type residential living quarters in the unique coastal zone and the laying of a suburban-type autobahn. The list of measures that could reduce the associated negative impact on residential areas is defined.
