To assess the socio-economic situation of border areas, it is proposed to use the coefficient of social efficiency and the coefficient of social accessibility. It was concluded that the higher these indicators, the higher the gross regional product per 1 inhabitant in the border regions, as well as the volume of foreign trade turnover per capita. Meanwhile, statistical analysis shows that these industries are in critical condition. After 1991 they experienced the greatest decline in comparison with other types of mechanical engineering, in many of them the decline continued until 2016, and the number of employees is still declining. The scale of production has almost not recovered, the dependence on imports has increased, and the possibilities of overcoming it have decreased. The scientific base has been largely lost, the costs of technological innovations have frozen at the level of 2010, and investments in fixed assets are declining. The low profitability of investment engineering products blocks the possibility of its recovery. The author concluded that state programs ensure the relationship between strategic and budgetary planning, being a key element in the framework of a program-targeted approach to management. The purpose of this article is to analyze approaches to the study of trust in modern conditions associated with global challenges and threats. Methodology. Within the framework of the research conducted by the author of the article, the following theories, methods, technologies and approaches were used: a qualitative analysis of the works of domestic and foreign scientists devoted to the transformation of economic relations in the conditions of digitalization and changes in the interpretation of the phenomenon of trust; methods of analysis and synthesis, classification and generalization in the allocation of general and particular in determining the place of trust in economic relations, situational, systemic, structural and functional approaches for the analysis of external and internal factors affecting trust in the interaction of subjects of economic relations. Results. In the presented article, the author analyzes the directions of studying trust in the digital economy. The article suggests an approach to increase the level of trust in digital platforms. Application. Process and functional approaches defined and formed functional management tasks. The practice of managing various objects in social and economic environments made it possible to identify and justify the composition and content of management tasks: input and output information, transformation procedures, as well as methodological tools to support these procedures. Empirical studies of the content of the elements of management tasks in various processes and subprocesses have revealed a relationship between the complexity of these elements and the time of their implementation in technologies for solving management tasks.
