Der vorliegende Aufsatz fasst den Ausgangs- sowie Zielpunkt der öffentlichen Theologie unter dem Begriff Entprivatisierungsthese zusammen. Während öffentliche Theologie auf die Überwindung von Säkularisierung und Individualisierung zielt, die unter dem Begriff von Privatisierung mitbegriffen sind, sind hier die positiven öffentlichen Bedeutungen von Säkularisierung und Individualisierung verdeutlicht. He defines the church as “the fellowship of individual believers,” and a “sign of the future fellowship of humanity under God’s reign,” i. e. the future Kingdom of God. As he continues to articulate his doctrine of the church, Pannenberg employs semiotic concepts to articulate this notion of the church as a sign of the Kingdom of God. In this paper, I aim to explore Pannenberg’s use of semiotic concepts as they concern his understanding of the church and provide critique and a new way forward of understanding the church as a sign of the Kingdom of God. Though Pannenberg is right to employ semiotic concepts and terminology to expound upon and clarify this concept, he is wrong in the semiotic model of the sign and approach he chooses to employ. Wenn es um Handlungen geht, müsste entsprechend ein Agent existieren, der diese Handlungen ausführt. Wendet man dieses naheliegende Bild ins Theologische, gerät man jedoch in all jene Probleme, die wir vom Theismus geerbt haben. Ein revisionärer Atheismus möchte hingegen das ursprüngliche Anliegen, das hinter jenem Bild steckt, bewahren, während das Verhältnis zwischen Gott und seinen Prädikaten und Eigenschaften neu bedacht wird. Dazu ist an Feuerbachs Identifizierung von ‚Gott‘ und ‚Liebe‘ zu erinnern, die im Gespräch mit einigen Wittgensteinschen Stimmen präzisiert wird, um schließlich nach Gottes Wirklichkeit als Wirken an uns zu fragen. Einer Antwort nähern wir uns, indem Gottes Realität für uns mit der eines von uns zu rezipierenden Kunstwerkes analogisiert wird. Second, the externalist approach which demands the verification of objective validity of revelatory truth. Third, the inclusivist approach which seeks the scientificity of theology from a hermeneutic perspective. Outlining the crucial points and limits of these approaches and replacing the question about theology as science with a theological reexamination of the possibility of science in general, this paper tries to suggest an alternative approach by establishing the possibility of scientific knowledge in general from the trinitarian perspective. Under this reformulation of the question, the philosophy of science set forth by Fichte as the most rigorous model of theory of science is critically explored.
