It also looks at the colonial hegemony enforced by institutions of the church, judiciary, medical system, and education in Igbo society. The peaceful Igbo village descends into chaos as the protagonist's son disobeys his father and mocks the idea of brotherhood by converting himself into Christianity. The impact of colonialism and the supremacy of European culture destroys the social harmony of Igbo society. As a result, despite the struggle and sacrifice of true lover of original culture, the rich cultural legacy continues to collapse. A post-colonial social narrative raises questions to the aboriginal Igbo culture that was originally shaped by a variety of cultural ethos. The community experiences a significant transformation while the true followers original culture struggle with the shifting dynamics of relationships. The traditional lifestyle of the Igbo people is disrupted and challenged by European civilization. As they resist the changes imposed by the colonizers, the indigenous people's identity changes.","PeriodicalId":516825,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences","volume":"122 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140449151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It conceptually expounds on certain influences that mediatisation dynamics exert on broadcast news stories especially on how they were chosen, framed, and presented to the public. The theoretical foundation of this paper is provided by the Media System Dependency and Mediatisation theories. The study employs Hjarvard, Mortensen, and Eskjaer’s (2015) typologies of media dynamics: amplification, framing, performance avenues, and co-structuring to relate how mediatisation influences broadcast news selection. The study revealed that amplification entails the media’s power to magnify event, focusing predominantly on the negative aspects of the pandemic, such as death tolls and infection rates, which aligns with the typical newsworthiness criteria favouring the extraordinary and negative. Conversely, framing and performance avenues align with the broadcast media’s ability to shape how the pandemic was perceived by selecting terminology and emphasising specific issues. This includes sensitising the public on preventive measures and providing a platform for various stakeholders to communicate their actions. Co-structuring explores how the broadcast media, often controlled by the elite, influence the public agenda and prompt actions from authorities. The paper concludes that broadcast media not only influence society but are also influenced by the concept of mеdiatisation, acknowledging the vital role they play in providing information for societal well-being.","PeriodicalId":516825,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences","volume":"20 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140503354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research elucidates the enduring relevance of three sociological perspectives—Symbolic Interactionism, Pragmatism, and Social Constructionism—for making sense of contemporary communication landscapes. Employing a qualitative meta-synthesis methodology, we analysed 50 academic articles and book chapters discussing applications of these perspectives within communication and media studies. Our analysis reveals how core concepts from each tradition—including symbolic meaning-making, practical consequences of communication, socially constructed representations—contain explanatory power for grasping new communication patterns and challenges brought by digitalization. Researchers apply Symbolic Interactionist notions of symbolic cues and improvised self-presentations to study computer-mediated communication and social media self-constructions. Pragmatist views on communicative actions as tools for desired ends inform critical analyses of fake news propagation and disinformation campaigns. Social Constructionist emphasis on mass media representations shaping shared realities has expanded to deconstructions of algorithmically-curated information environments. By elucidating these and other linkages, our study aims to revitalize engagement with forgotten or overlooked theoretical foundations in order to advance communication scholarship and enhance reflexivity within emergent media ecosystems. We conclude that integrating insights from Symbolic Interactionism, Pragmatism, and Social Constructionism remains vitally important, both for scholarly aims of explaining reality and practical aims of consciously shaping it.","PeriodicalId":516825,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences","volume":" 42","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139640659","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These workers are produced by schools through teaching and learning. Medical Laboratory scholars are on many occasions involved in training and teaching. Nevertheless, nowadays teaching is been centered towards the views of learners, thus the aim of those study was to compare lecture and discussion teaching methods among students at Medical Laboratory Science Department at Sultan Abdurrahman School of Health Technology Gwadabawa with a view to select better learning method. A survey of 60 participants using a semi-structured questionnaire was done and descriptive statistics aided the analysis. Best teaching method selected by the respondents was the lecture method (100.0%); while none of them (0.0%) submitted discussion method as the method they want in learning Medical Laboratory Science. Advantages or reasons for choosing lecture method than the discussion method as submitted by the respondents are stated. The most frequently stated was \"Less cost (30.0%)\" then, \" No tedious efforts from students in understanding lectures (26.7%)\" \"Give room for more research (16.7%),\" \" No anxiety (13.3%), \" \"Give room for rehearsal (8.3%)\" and \" Teacher give important points (5.0%)\". The disadvantages of discussion (presentation) method are: Some students are in anxiety (33.3%), time consuming (25.0%), students may have limited knowledge (20.0%), students spend more money (16.7%), and some students may easily not contribute (5.0%). Thus, lectures are suitable and better ways of making Medical Laboratory Science students that will become technicians and relations.","PeriodicalId":516825,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences","volume":" 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139640647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A qualitative analysis were conducted using Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis approach, which includes description, interpretation, and explanation. The text description analysis utilized appraisal framework. According to text analysis of @kompascom, the Constitutional Court's decision is portrayed negatively. The article describes negative happiness, negative satisfaction, and negative quality as reasons for people's sadness and anger. The decision is considered to be full of fabrications and is seen as paving the way for Gibran to become Prabowo's vice presidential candidate. The news report from @tvonenews describes the Constitutional Court's decision as interesting due to its positive impact on Gibran's opportunity to run as a vice presidential candidate. However, the report also indirectly highlights a negative aspect of the decision by reporting that Anwar Usman committed a serious ethical violation. (2) According to the discourse practice analysis, @kompascom connects the Constitutional Court's decision to Gibran's candidacy, while @tvonenews connects it more to Anwar Usman's ethical violations. (3) The analysis of social practices reveals changes and stabilizations of social values in various matters, including public opinion, political polarization, and youth involvement. The latter is key to achieving a balance between stability and change, as well as upholding the rule of law.","PeriodicalId":516825,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences","volume":" 48","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139640658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Goat meat samples were obtained from two slaughter points (new market and Mammara). The results revealed the mean concentrations of Fe, Cr, and Cu in the unroasted goat meat samples (UMN and UMM) in both new market and Mammara slaughtering points as 1.7600 ± 1.4000, 0.0012 ±0.0000, 0.8700, 3.2500 ± 0.0000, 0.0025 ± 0.0000, and 0.7850 ± 0.0071 mg/kg respectively. Cd and Pb were not detected in any of the samples. The mean concentrations of  Fe, Cr, Cd, and Cu in the goat meat roasted with scrap tyres (RMN1 and RMM1) in both slaughtering houses (new market and Mammara) were 4.1300 ± 0.0141, 0.0025 ± 0.0001, 0.0011 ± 0s.0000, 1.1250 ± 0.0071, 5.1500 ± 0.0000, 0.0035 ± 0.0001, 0.0012 ± 0.0000, and 1.0500 ± 0.0000 mg/kg respectively. Pb was not detected in all the samples. Also, the mean concentrations of Fe, Cr, and Cu in the goat meat roasted with firewood (RMN2 and RMM2) in slaughtering houses (new market and Mammara) were 3.7750 ± 0.0000 mg/kg, 0.0013 ± 0.0000, 0.9850 ± 0.0000, 4.9150 ± 0.0071, 0.0026 ± 0.0000, and 0.8650 ± 0.021 mg/kg respectively. Cd was detected in the samples obtained from Mammara (0.0012 ± 0.0000) but was not detected in the samples collected from new market. Pb was not detected in any of the samples obtained from both slaughtering houses. The mean concentrations of Fe and Cu in (UMN, UMM), (RMN1, RMM1), and (RMN2, RMM2) in both slaughtering points were above the maximum permissible level set by (FAO) and (WHO).The result of this present study show that the practice of roasting goat meat with scrap tyres is dangerous because the meat could accumulate high and unacceptable levels of heavy metals that could pose a threat to human lives, and hence, should be outlawed.  ","PeriodicalId":516825,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences","volume":"45 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140508984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
