The flow curves of the Ti-811 alloy were successfully modelled by means of the sinh equation and constitutive equations were proposed for isothermal hot compression of Ti-811 alloy. According to the date of flow curves, the values were calculated for the strain rate sensitivity, stress exponent and activation energy. The amounts of the strain rate sensitivity, stress exponent, and activation energy were calculated as 0.19, 3.95 and 730 kJ mol−1 for α + β region and 0.21, 3.6 and 194 kJ mol−1 for β region, respectively.","PeriodicalId":516293,"journal":{"name":"Materials Science and Technology","volume":"87 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139535646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Whilst existing studies have compared different creep models using different measures of predictive performance, none have identified whether these differences are real from a statistical significance perspective. This paper proposes several tests based on a review of the literature. These tests were applied to two creep models using failure time data on 2.25Cr–1Mo steel to develop a recommended approach for practitioners to adopt when selecting a creep model. All such tests concluded that the Evans model produced better long-term life predictions using only short-term data, and that this difference was statistically significant at the 5% significance level.","PeriodicalId":516293,"journal":{"name":"Materials Science and Technology","volume":"47 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139535138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the use of these alloys is limited due to their surface properties under extreme loads and aggressive environments. Surface treatments can be applied to these alloys to increase their usage areas and improve their weak surface properties. In this study, the micro-arc oxidation method was applied to improve the surface properties of LA91 alloy. The corrosion and adhesion behaviour of the coated samples were investigated. The lowest corrosion current density in the coatings was obtained under Experiment 3. Experiment 3 has the highest Lc2 value due to the coating thickness and the denser and smaller diameter pores of the functional intermediate layer.","PeriodicalId":516293,"journal":{"name":"Materials Science and Technology","volume":"76 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139535529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Sn-Zn-Zr (TZK) alloys were investigated after ECAP deformation at different mould and sample temperatures. The results revealed that higher mould temperatures controlled the actual deformation temperatures and lower sample temperatures prevented grain growth during preheating. After ECAP deformation at mould temperature of 300 °C and sample temperature of room temperature, the alloy consisted of abundant dynamical recrystallisation grains, with an elongation of 30% and a strength of 251.49 MPa. This study would provide a novel idea for the optimisation of the ECAP process.","PeriodicalId":516293,"journal":{"name":"Materials Science and Technology","volume":"97 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139535540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structural analysis reveals that tetrahedral lengths decrease while octahedral lengths increase due to strong affinity of large ionic radii Mn for octahedral sites as compared to Zn. Scanning electron microscopy reveals that the grain size of all the ferrites lies in the range 200–250 nm. Hysteresis loops of all samples show the coercivity to be several hundred Oersted, indicating the soft magnetic nature of spinel ferrites. High-frequency parameters like complex permittivity and permeability, direct conductivity and loss tangent were measured against varying frequencies (∼ 6 GHz) for a selected sample.","PeriodicalId":516293,"journal":{"name":"Materials Science and Technology","volume":"94 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139535552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interaction mechanism between elements is proved by first-principles calculation. The results show that the strength of Cu–15Ni–8Sn–1Al–0.1Y alloy reaches 760 MPa, and the hardness of matrix (α-Cu) and Sn-rich phase (γ) are 292.43 and 341.65 HV, respectively, which are 23.78%, 97.80% and 65.21% higher than those of Cu–15Ni–8Sn alloy, respectively. The formation of a large number of dispersed nano-scale Ni3Al second phase is the main reason for the great improvement of the strength of the alloy. In addition, the solid solution of Al and the formation of the Ni17Y2 phase improve the hardness of the Sn-rich phase.","PeriodicalId":516293,"journal":{"name":"Materials Science and Technology","volume":"73 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139535605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work offers an alternative route to inhibit the formation of coarse columnar grains during LPBF process. The crack-free 6061Al alloy with a refined microstructure was obtained using nano-sized TiO2 modified feedstock powders. After HIPPing, a nearly defect-free sample was obtained with a fracture elongation of 19.5 ± 0.14%. After artificially peak ageing treatment, the TiO2 modified 6061Al alloy fabricated by LPBF exhibits a tensile strength of 336.1 ± 3.5 MPa and the fracture elongation is still 8.1 ± 0.92%. The dramatic corrosive suppression of the branched compounds on copper in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution was revealed by the potentiodynamic polarisation and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy at 298 K.
