Previous monitoring systems had limitations in platform flexibility, low-cost devices, hardware complexity, and stability of the data transfer process. For this reason, this research proposes an IoT architecture that uses Arduino devices, mini WIFI and an open-source platform, so that it can be easily developed further. This research also develops innovations in controlling the use of electrical energy sources from PV and utility networks. This monitoring system is applied to PV installations with a capacity of 1KW which is capable of monitoring electrical data in the form of current, voltage, power, energy and frequency obtained from PV panels, batteries, loads and electrical utilities. Monitoring data is displayed in a visual form that can be accessed via web-based and mobile applications. This research has developed an innovation in controlling the use of electrical energy sources from PV and Utility networks by using several sensors as parameters to determine the right time and condition in controlling the use of electrical resources.","PeriodicalId":515899,"journal":{"name":"TEM Journal","volume":"47 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140424357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aims to reveal the levels of statistical literacy of mathematics education students, especially in understanding MoE, and compare them based on four variables: gender, enrollment in a statistics course, year in the program, and type of university. The online survey research involved undergraduate students of the mathematics education study program from 21 universities in Indonesia’s western, central, and eastern regions as the sample (n = 970). Descriptive statistics was used to describe the literacy levels and inferential statistics (t-test and F-test) to compare them based on the four variables. The results of the study reveal that: (1) student literacy in understanding the MoE concept is dominant at the non-literate level; and (2) there are significant differences in students’ literacy levels in terms of gender, enrollment in a statistics course, year in the program, and type of university. The study indicates that the literacy of mathematics education students is still low, so the statistics course is expected to focus more on developing statistical literacy.","PeriodicalId":515899,"journal":{"name":"TEM Journal","volume":"39 20","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140425584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although policies are being updated to accommodate the transition to eco-friendlier management, there is little literature about technologies used to reduce pollution. This study assessed the economic effectiveness and cost improvement of the hotel industry in Western Visayas using cleaner production technology practices. This study utilized a descriptive survey research approach. The 156 participants, which consisted of hotel owners, managers, and employees, were chosen using a stratified random sampling technique using G* power version 3.0. The statistical tools employed were frequency counts, percentages, rankings, averages, standard deviation, and one-way ANOVA. Results revealed that the top five cleaner production technology practices implemented that suggest sustainability were: “modify facilities/equipment”, “adequate proper control operations”, “improves facilities/equipment layout”, “provides training and incentive programs”, and “improves wastes segregation and storage”. The study shows no significant differences observed in the scope of practices for stars 3-5. On the contrary, there is a significant difference seen in the scope of 2-star hotel practices. The use of cleaner production technology and green practices has also decreased the hotel's use of energy, water, and solid waste management. Importantly, the cost of consumption in each hotel unit decreased. The findings of this study will enable hotels to adopt efficient waste sorting techniques, paving the way for a greener transition in the hospitality industry. By doing so, future research, projects, and policy implementations may be directed to a better tomorrow.","PeriodicalId":515899,"journal":{"name":"TEM Journal","volume":"27 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140425665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current M-L methods necessitate substantial data and computational resources for extracting meta-features encoding data properties. However, the time needed for meta-feature extraction exceeds that for predictions in M-L systems. This article proposes a domain-specific M-L paradigm tailored to social science, aiming to identify universally applicable meta-features in social science data. Investigating domain-specific properties, the study discerned common meta-features across social science domains, facilitating an efficient AutoML strategy with reduced data requirements. Ninety meta-features, clustered into eight groups characterizing social science data, were employed, focusing on education and business domains. An analysis of 46 datasets revealed domain-specific variations in meta-feature values, confirmed by Wilcoxon tests. Notably, certain meta-features exhibited consistency across social science domains, demonstrating potential for cross-domain AutoML adoption. This research introduces a targeted M-L approach, optimizing AutoML efficiency for social science applications by identifying common meta-features across diverse domains.","PeriodicalId":515899,"journal":{"name":"TEM Journal","volume":"74 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140426960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address the growing need for secure data in smart environments, lightweight and efficient security solutions are in high demand. Notably, the Trivium, a well-known encrypt stream cipher (eSTREAM) project, has been the target of several attacks. This paper proposes an innovative approach for fast and highly secured image encryption using byte scrambling and a modified version of the Trivium algorithm. The Henon map is utilized to generate random numbers for permutation, reducing time and increasing security. Performance is measured on 100 colour images with different several tests. The results present a fast and robust security system for the transmission process. It is more efficient than the traditional Trivium method. The encrypted-decryption time is reduced by 1:24 times, making it a quick security system for surgical telepresence and multimedia visuals.","PeriodicalId":515899,"journal":{"name":"TEM Journal","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140427411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach is designed for utilization by a Web-Based Decision Support System (WebDSS). The purpose of the study is to aid readers in comprehending how ontologies in healthcare management platforms can be modeled using UML and OWL. For the conceptualization and the design, service modelling and the semantics of the web language are crucial. We demonstrate the use of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and the Ontology Web Language (OWL) in the administration of healthcare operations and key elements of the model-base of healthcare administration systems. Highly educated systems with automated assistance will allow decision-makers to more effectively incorporate aspects of sustainability into their decisions. In order to generate semantic ontologies for medical management, the present study proposes an ontology creation technique and a Semantic Web framework called Protégé. Web-based technologies, decision trees, data mining, and computational algorithms are implemented by WebDSS to assess medical resources administration information in real-time. These methods are employed to develop a decision making framework for this study. Time series graphs, email reports, and webpages are used to display the test findings. When healthcare thresholds are surpassed, the system uses text messages as email reports to automatically deliver warnings. Our study's primary contribution is the creation of a useful tool that makes it easier for academics studying medical concerns to locate online sites with information.","PeriodicalId":515899,"journal":{"name":"TEM Journal","volume":"60 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140427920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it contributes to user frustration and dissatisfaction, leading to difficulties in the retrieval process and hindering book monitoring. Therefore, an efficient arrangement is needed to make it easier for librarians to organize collections at the library. Hence, this study proposes and evaluates Optical Character Recognition (OCR) approaches such as Tesseract-OCR and Efficient and Accurate Scene Text (EAST) by considering various light factors and device applications. An evaluation was performed to determine the effectiveness of the methods for detecting classification numbers using the Character Error Rate (CER) and Word Error Rate (WER). The results obtained can be seen from the lighting and the use of image capture tools that can affect the text detection results. The higher the lighting, the better the text detection results obtained. However, in the extraction tool using a security camera yields a better output than the others.
