The results of the studies show that without the use of modern methods of improving oil recovery, maintaining stable production levels across the industry is becoming more difficult. Today, the efficiency of oil extraction by the main development methods is considered unsatisfactory, given the growing global consumption of petroleum products.Over the years, global interest in enhanced oil recovery has increased, and research is underway to find a scientifically sound approach to selecting the most efficient oil field development technologies.Despite the large number of experiments and the accumulated practical experience in using enhanced oil recovery methods, there is currently a wide gap between the needs of oil field stakeholders and the supply of services to implement these methods.Environmental issues are also important. Significant amounts of greenhouse gas emissions and the need for their disposal suggest the search for optimal ways to use them. Reducing СО2 emissions is a complex process involving capturing it in industrial plants, transporting it from capture sites to use sites, and locating it in geological sites.The subject of the study is to assess the feasibility of using СО2 as a method of increasing oil recovery.The article presents the results of a technical and economic assessment of the feasibility of using СО2 in an injection agent to improve oil recovery using the example of one of the fields in the West Siberian oil and gas province. The assessment showed that from a technological point of view, it is advisable to use the method, additional oil production is 3–7 %. However, additional tax incentives are required for interventions to become economically effective, as the interventions are highly capital intensive. The authors proposed an incentive option to ensure a positive economic effect, as well as to avoid a decrease in tax revenues compared to the basic option with water injection.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140414694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the possible solutions for this is the construction of mono-diameter wells using expandable casing technology. The technology of drilling wells with the same fixed bore diameter from the wellhead to the productive formation could solve many problems and limitations in the construction of wells, opening up opportunities for the development of large oil and gas reserves that are currently classified as difficult to recover or inaccessible. The technology of drilling monodiameter wells also reduces drilling volumes, reduces the adverse impact on the environment and, ultimately, leads to minimization of construction costs.For purposeful choice of flushing fluid components, especially reagents of complex action and lubricating additives necessary for drilling of mono-diameter wells, their preliminary laboratory tests on experimental installations providing physical similarity of interaction processes (wear) of friction pairs in relation to drilling technology are required. The task of this article is to study lubricating additives for reaming of reaming pipe in mono-diameter wells for subsequent selection of the most optimal of them. The experiments were carried out on the wellknown universal machine II 5018, designed for testing friction and wear of metals and alloys, hard engineering plastics and composites. The loading system and the II 5018 work unit were upgraded to simulate the processes being studied. During the experiments, the friction coefficient and wear rate of the sample were measured. To carry out the research, various lubricating and cooling media used in drilling technology were selected.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"46 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140416156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to experts’ estimates, the Earth is facing a crisis situation due to greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. In this study, an analysis of the most effective existing technologies for gas recovery from compressor station equipment was conducted, and based on their advantages and disadvantages, a new system called the Mobile Ejector Unit (MEU) was proposed. The MEU is based on a two-stage jet ejector, whose main characteristics were obtained through calculations using G.N. Abramovich’s methodology. Along with the new system, modification schemes for the valve unit to connect the MEU, gas recovery scheme from the centrifugal booster circuit, and the compressor workshop circuit are proposed. The calculation of evacuation time depending on the used recovery scheme was carried out, and an economic evaluation of the efficiency of implementing the mobile ejector unit was provided. As a result, it can be concluded that the presented technology is efficient and versatile due to its simplicity in operation, cost-effectiveness, and mobility.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"65 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140411468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This type of transport has many advantages, however, despite this, problems arise during operation related to ensuring the integrity of the pipelines themselves and providing settlements located along the linear part with fuel using intermediate branches to local oil depots. It is worth noting that in this case there is a problem of ensuring constant and highquality monitoring of the state of the oil product pipeline-branch pipeline system, for which constant monitoring methods based on mathematical modeling are often used to solve, which make it possible to investigate the integrity without changing the pumping mode. However, in order to improve the accuracy of these methods, it is necessary to constantly improve existing or develop new mathematical models of pipeline systems.The main aim of the research. Improvement of mathematical modeling methods for detecting leaks or unauthorized tie-ins during intermediate scheduled discharges of hydrocarbons on the linear part of the main pipeline.Mathematical modeling of the operating mode of the technological section of the main pipeline, taking into account the discharge on the linear part, the need to regulate the operating modes of pumping stations.An algorithm has been developed to determine the location of a leak or illegal tie-in on a trunk pipeline with an intermediate branch to a local oil depot. The primary factors contributing to the present state include the structural peculiarities of the shell-to-bottom joint, leading to incomplete fusion in the middle between the double filletgroove welds (double fillet welds) and, consequently, low inspectability. This results in a complex stress-strain state with maximum stress levels in the area of the shell-to-bottom joint. Thus, improving the existing design of the bottom-to-shell joint is relevant.This article presents the results of comparative resource evaluation tests conducted on the typical design of the shell-to-bottom joint and two prospective designs: one with complete penetration weld and another with a T-section. The tests were conducted using prototypes that replicate the necessary structural properties of the shell-to-bottom joint and the stress distribution diagram, allowing testing on standard servo-hydraulic machines. The results obtained indicate that all considered designs of shell-to-bottom joints, when free from flaws, exhibit high reliability, ensuring safe operation even under double the operational stresses for a minimum of 50 years. Considering the improved inspectability and feasibility of manufacturing these prospective shell-to-bottom joint designs, along with their comparable production costs, they can be recommended for practical applications.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140415872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system of basic equations, which includes the law of conservation of mass, the heat inflow equation and Darcy’s law, also contains an equation describing the kinetics of nonequilibrium hydrate decomposition, which is determined by pressure, temperature and surface area of particles. On the basis of the numerical solution of the problem, dependences are obtained that allow us to identify the regularities of the process of nonequilibrium decomposition of gas hydrate in a natural reservoir when warm gas is injected into a porous reservoir. It is shown that at the initial moments of time after the start of injection, the extent of the region saturated with gas, hydrate and water is very small compared to the extent of the formation, which corresponds to the mode of hydrate decomposition on the frontal surface. At long injection times, the nonequilibrium hydrate decomposition process is characterized by the formation of three characteristic zones: the near one, where the pores are saturated with gas and water, the far one, saturated with methane and its gas hydrate, and the intermediate one, where gas, hydrate and water are located. It is established that the pressure and temperature in the extended region are connected by the condition of phase equilibrium. The influence of the main parameters of the system on the distributions of pressure, temperature, water saturation and hydrate saturation, as well as on the dynamics of their changes over time, is analyzed. It is shown that injection pressure, as well as reservoir permeability and porosity have a significant effect on the decomposition rate of gas hydrate. An increase in the values of these parameters contributes to an increase in the rate of nonequilibrium hydrate decomposition. An increase in the injection temperature leads only to an increase in the extent of the area containing methane and water.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"17 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140409653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inorganic salt deposits formed in tubing reduce pipeline throughput capacity and lead to equipment failure. Thus, the problem of salt formation in tubing is relevant and requires the search for optimal methods to solve it. There are a large number of methods aimed at preventing the formation of inorganic scale and at removing the resulting scale from tubing. The methods of removal of scale from the tubing are expensive, time-consuming, and they require a shutdown at the oil production facility. Therefore, it is preferable to use methods for preventing salt formation in tubing pipes.One of the methods for preventing salt formation in oil production is the use of internal protective coatings of the NKT. It is important to understand that the use of coatings to prevent salt formation is not a universal method, individual selection of the protective coating is required for each object. In addition, at the moment, the effectiveness of the use of protective coatings as a measure to prevent salt formation in the tubing has not been fully proven. The selection of an effective internal coating (to prevent salt formation on the surface of the equipment) using pilot field tests is an expensive and long procedure, so it is necessary to develop a laboratory method and specialized testing equipment to solve this problem. This paper reviewed the existing test equipment to assess its potential for laboratory dynamic testing of tubing coatings under saline conditions. Based on the advantages and disadvantages of existing equipment, the «Stand for assessing the resistance of coatings to inorganic salt deposits» was developed. This article describes the development of the «Test Bench for Evaluation of Coating Resistance to Inorganic Salt Deposits,» which can be used to assess the possibility of using protective tubing coatings to prevent the formation of inorganic salt deposits on the inner surface of pipes.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"90 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140415195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first part provides basic models describing viscoelastic behavior and corresponding equations of state. Describes the method of testing under the action of harmonic vibrations (method of dynamic tests), possible options for its implementation and the determined rheological properties of the viscoelastic sample. To interpret the results of dynamic tests, a complex module is most often introduced, which consists of two components — the elastic modulus (G’) and the loss modulus (G’’). These dynamic modules and their relationship describe the behavior of the viscoelastic sample. It is shown that with respect to modules, it is possible to conclude on the type of sample - viscoelastic liquid or viscoelastic body. It is also noted that dynamic tests should be carried out in the area of low amplitudes of oscillating loads, in which the rheological properties do not depend on the applied stress or strain. The second part provides examples of viscoelastic systems used in operations such as water flow isolation, hydraulic fracturing, and modified acid treatments. The most common viscoelastic systems used in various technologies are solutions of surfactants and polymers of different structures. It is noted that in order to obtain a viscoelastic gel, polymer solutions are used with a crosslinker, while the rheological properties of surfactant solutions are controlled by external factors — pH, temperature, water mineralization. Viscoelastic surfactant solutions have an advantage over polymer solutions ‑ they are able to recover their properties after mechanical or thermal exposure due to the formation of supramolecular structures as a result of selforganization of surfactant molecules. The surfactant-based HLT property of reversibly collapsing and recovering is used, in particular, to reduce pressure losses to overcome friction. In flow-deflecting acid compositions, viscoelastic surfactants are mainly used, the most common of which are given in the second part of the article.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"7 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140413750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the depletion of hydrocarbon reserves in traditional formations with good reservoir properties, interest in hard-to-recover reserves is currently increasing. And the main difficulty in the development of such reservoirs is the efficiency of waterflooding systems. When developing low-permeability reservoirs, various mechanisms of oil displacement during flooding can be identified. When flooding reservoirs with a permeability of less than 1 mD, there is no need to keep a high wellhead pressure. Moreover, with a large accumulated compensation, stopping water injection for up to six months does not lead to a drop in production, which creates prerequisites for the organization of cyclic flooding. This will solve a number of problems that appear in injection wells when working in such conditions. The facial structure of reservoirs sometimes has a decisive influence on wells operation and their mutual influence. The transition to the field development with a complex geological structure, low filtration characteristics of the formation, the existence of geological bodies with different properties, requires not only thoroughness in the formation of a conceptual understanding of the oilfield, but also the creation of detailed digital facial maps taking into account the existence of zones with different sedimentation, as a consequence, creating zones with different filtrationcapacitance properties, requiring different approaches to development.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"1996 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140416663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, in the world oil and gas production practice, there is a tendency to increase the share of involvement in the hard-to-reach and hard-to-recover reserves development, which results in the cost of geological exploration increasing. It is important to minimize these costs by improving existing and developing new technological solutions. Increasing the efficiency and knowledge intensity of new technologies being introduced is the most promising strategy for exploration activities, oil and gas fields development and exploitation.The current conditions for the exit of most foreign companies from the Russian sector of the oil and gas industry, including the search for potential oil locations, require the development or maintenance at the proper level of own innovative and knowledge-intensive solutions that ensure the further systematic development of the geological exploration sector. A potential vector in this direction could be technology transfer from foreign countries, including most of the Middle East and North Africa countries. The innovative activities of up stream in these countries (including in terms of geological exploration) determine the trends in the development of international geological exploration technologies, as well as potential foreign companies for the systematic institutionalization of mutually beneficial relations between Russian and foreign oil businesses.Saudi Arabia, Israel and Iraq companies develop promising innovative solutions for the oil and gas industry exploration sector, including attracting foreign technologies to their market.
