Currently, the scientific community has developed methods for determining the characteristics of the pore and fracture structure of shales with different resolutions, and also discussed the mechanisms of the influence of the characteristics of pores and cracks on the filtration of shale oil and gas. In this work, firstly, a three-dimensional model of a variable-scale pore-fracture structure was created. Secondly, on the basis of data obtained using computed tomography, the characteristics of the development of pores and cracks at different geometric sizes (25 and 2 mm) were statistically analyzed. Third, pore and fracture structures of mixed, felsitic and laminated felsitic shale have been relatively studied. The results show that: (a) the fractured porosity of group I felsite shale is 0.36–0.89 %; mixed shale of group I is 0.34–0.47 %; mixed shale of group III is 0.12–0.86 %; mixed shale of group III is 0.13–0.15 %. (b) Compared to mixed shale of group I, fracturing in felsite shale of the same group is more developed. In addition, the average fractured porosity of felsite shale is 0.28 % greater than that of mixed shale. After analyzing group III, it was noticed that the cracks of the mixed dolomite shale are less developed compared to the mixed shale of the same group, while the average porosity of the cracked shale is 0.33 % less than that of the cracks of the mixed shale (c). Various components of shale samples are distinguished on a gray scale. High density components are bright white (e.g. pyrite); medium density components — light gray (for example, quartz, carbonate and clay minerals); low-density components — dark gray (for example, organic matter); cracks — black (d). The volume of matrix components is relatively high and constitutes the bulk of the total volume of shale samples. The distribution of high-density minerals has a certain randomness. High-density ellipsoidal or irregular minerals (mainly pyrite) range in diameter from a few microns to hundreds of microns, and their volume is relatively small (e). Three types of microscale fractures are mainly developed in shale: microscale fractures within mineral particles (intragranular fractures), microscale fractures between mineral particles (intergranular fractures), and shrinkage fractures. Intragranular cracks are mainly microscale cracks formed by rigid particles that collapse in a certain direction under stress.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"25 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141015881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To effectively solve this problem, independent and easily modifiable classifiers of deviations from the requirements of regulatory documents, as well as measures aimed at compensating for these deviations, have been developed. The faceted method was chosen as the classification method, which allows us to divide a large object of study into smaller characteristics independent of each other, which facilitates the decision-making process and allows us to take into account many aspects.The resulting classifiers are a tool for systematization of information obtained during the analysis and development of special technical conditions necessary to ensure the safety of main pipelines and steel vertical tanks. Due to their ability to be easily modified, they can be adapted to specific objects and conditions, which makes them a versatile and flexible tool for developing and making engineering decisions.An important aspect of the work is the practical testing of the developed classifiers by applying them to a real object of the oil and gas industry. This stage of testing demonstrated the high efficiency and practical applicability of the proposed classifiers, which indicates their potential aimed at improving the safety of oil and gas transportation and storage facilities, as well as products of their processing.In addition, the systematization of information on deviations from the requirements of regulatory documents and ways to compensate for them allows not only to increase the level of safety during the construction, reconstruction and operation of pipelines and reservoirs, but also to reduce the consequences of possible emergencies.The results obtained represent an important step in the development of an approach to ensuring the safety of main pipelines and steel vertical tanks, and also have both practical and scientific value, and can be recommended for use by specialists in the field of design, technosphere safety and the development of special technical conditions.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"13 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141014999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ability to utilize these key products and their reserves, to hold the strings of business in these areas, determines the path to economic prosperity and the choice of political and economic strategy of the state.The Far North is an area larger than several European countries. It is characterized by extreme climatic conditions, a quarter of all foreign currency revenues to the state budget of Russia comes from this region. 20% of the world’s gas and 90 % of Russian gas and oil are produced here annually. Moreover, the Far North is not only a powerful raw material base of the country today, it is also a kind of guarantor of energy security of the state for many years to come: a quarter of all explored world reserves of natural gas and oil are concentrated here.Resource extraction in the Far North is complicated by a number of external factors, such as low temperatures, difficulties in delivery, installation of equipment at the site, as well as in the operation and repair of process equipment, which in turn leads to new requirements for the design of equipment used for oil and gas production. This paper describes the developed concept of a small-size separation unit for highly mineralized water-methanol mixture (hereinafter referred to as WMM), which is achieved by adopting a number of new technological solutions. The paper also describes the developed methodology of designing a small-size Navy separation plant, which allows to reduce the number of economic costs caused by difficulties in transportation, installation and operation.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"5 33","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140410152","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main reason is the growing water cut of well production, and repair and isolation operations using hydrogels occupy a worthy place in this segment of technological processes for limiting water inflow. The second reason for oilfield workers’ interest in hydrogels for water shutoff is related to the possibility of smooth regulation of their properties: they are injected with low viscosity, then mature in the required isolation interval, and their viscosity and structural-mechanical properties increase multiple times. The penetration ability of gelants (immature gels) into porous media far exceeds traditional cement slurries and synthetic curing resins. An important reason for the interest of scientists and engineers in the oil industry in hydrogels is the possibility of complexing technology: after injection they are reinforced by cement slurry or curing resins, which synergistically increases the effect of water isolation. Also, gel-forming compositions can be easily transformed into foam-gel compositions by simple manipulations, which increases their isolation efficiency. In terms of rheological characteristics, hydrogels, depending on whether they are based on organic or inorganic materials, have viscoelastic or viscoplastic properties. Organic-inorganic hybrid plugging materials combine both of these important properties, allowing hydrogels of different natures and structures to be used for targeted blocking of the source of water inflow.This article emphasizes the primary importance of determining the source of well watering, depending on which the treatment design is already built, and the appropriate materials are selected.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"11 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140413972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These calculations are important for such urgent tasks of pipeline transport practice as carrying out an inventory and establishing the fact of illegal withdrawal of oil/oil products from the pipeline. The work provides a fundamental equation of the state of the stopped pipeline, in consideration of which the focus of attention is on changing the geometric capacity of the pipeline depending on the change in temperature and pressure of the pumped medium. When considering the change in volume, from the classical equations of mechanics, refined dependencies were obtained for two cases: underground and above-ground laying. A comparison of the obtained relationships has been made, in which it has been found that a number of effects such as a change in gas volume and a temperature factor «mask» the effect of leakage/illegal sampling, preventing their identification from the pressure/temperature change data. An analytical explanation of the processes occurring in the shut down pipeline will allow further quantification of the uncertainties that arise, which will facilitate the decision and allow adjustments to be made to the software used.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"61 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140415351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the HTR structure of the Russian Federation, low-permeability and heterogeneous reservoirs are identified as the main subgroup (64 %), in 2022, approximately 30 % of all Russian oil was produced from HTR (166 from 535 million tons). In such reservoirs, to maintain and ensure high levels of oil recovery, a workovers such as hydraulic fracturing (HF) is used.Petroleum production companies have various technical and infrastructal capabilities for the selection of candidate wells for workover. Some oil companies use the support of design institutes and service companies that mining andhave specialized geological software products for monitoring and selection of workovers, others make do with the knowledge and skills of selecting their own specialists. However, due to the development of residual recoverable reserves and the unprofitability of the workover every year to select candidate wells, it is becoming increasingly difficult to select candidate wells. Working out the entire well stock and selection candidate wells using standard techniques takes a huge amount of time for a specialist. The article proposes a solution to the topical issue of optimizing the selection of candidate wells for hydraulic fracturing by predicting the dynamics of production wells based on historical data for various geological conditions. The developed method for forecasting the flow rate of liquid and oil on the basis of the rate of change in reservoir pressure and water cut of the well allows you to predict the flow rate for two years ahead, monthly estimates the possible increase from hydraulic fracturing and allows you to determine the optimal time for repeated or primary hydraulic fracturing at the well. This approach sharply narrows the number of potential candidates from a coupe of hundred to two to three dozen potential candidates.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"4 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140408495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional complex of geophysical methods (thermometry, flow metering, composition methods, and others) does not always make it possible to detect the movement of fluid behind the well casing. To solve this problem, it is promising to use the method of active thermometry.Research technology using this method involves recording the temperature in the well during induction heating of a small section of metal casing. As a result of heat exchange between the heated section of the column and the liquid flow, a thermal disturbance is created in the annular flow channel. In the presence of behind the casing flow, heat will be carried away from the induction heating region in the direction of liquid movement and will be redistributed in the column above or below the heating interval. By recording the temperature of the casing during induction heating and after turning off the inductor, it is possible to establish the fact of cross-flow and quantify its flow rate.This paper studies the influence of the direction and flow rate of behind the casing flow on the unsteady temperature field in a metal casing during its local induction heating. The problem is solved numerically in the Ansys Fluent software package. The temperature field in the fluid in the wellbore is calculated taking into account free convection.The model temperature distributions obtained for different behind the casing flow configurations (direction, flow rate) can be used for quantitative interpretation, to determine the flow rate in the behind the casing flow channel by comparing actual and model temperature curves. To assess the intensity of behind-the-casing movement, time measurements at a “point” in the induction heating interval are also informative. The direction of flow is determined by the nature of the temperature distribution in depth above and below the induction heating section.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"2 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140413346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the temporary localization of damage formation during the cooling stage, the most critical stage of the technological process during the operation of the DCR is determined and a damage mechanism is proposed in the form of the influence of an uneven temperature distribution over the DCR body. The description of method for studying the temperature field on the outer surface of the body of the DCR using original mobile temperature measuring devices is given. The results of research with data on the distributions and actual values of temperature differences along the outer surface of the body of the DCR during operation are presented. The DCR with a material design made of stainless steel was selected as the object of research. The case of damage in the form of cracking of the welded joint of the body during the operation of the DCR with the occurrence of a leak is considered. To justify the occurrence of damage in the form of corrugations, calculations of the stress-strain state (SSS) of the material of the body elements are carried out. The applied finite element complex «ANSYS» is used for calculations. As the initial data for SSS calculations, the results of studies of the temperature distribution over the outer surface of the DCR are used. During the calculations, it was found that at the cooling stage, the greatest stresses in the body material correspond to the level of the yield strength of the material and lead to irreversible plastic deformation with the occurrence of the process of accumulation of deformations (ratcheting process). A comparison is being made with data from foreign studies of the operating conditions of the DCR. As measures to prevent operational damage to the DCR, it is proposed to change the technical requirements for steels for the manufacture of main parts in terms of increasing the level of mechanical properties (tensile strength and yield strength). Recommendations are formulated on the material execution of the DCR, the design and manufacture of the DCR.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"45 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140414170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was shown for the first time that comparative diffraction patterns of natural and technogenic carbonate mineral deposits of oilfield equipment differ significantly in the physical broadening of diffraction reflections. In addition, it has been established that the diffraction reflections of technogenic calcite are characterized by shifts to the region of large scattering angles. These facts are taken as the basis for establishing the nature of the formation of carbonate deposits using X-ray diffraction analysis. It has been shown that natural (core) carbonate minerals are characterized by narrow reflections with good resolution of doublet lines, while in minerals formed under borehole conditions, the diffraction maxima are much broader, and low-intensity reflections are not resolved. Precision analysis of diffraction patterns showed that the reasons for such atypical broadenings and shifts of reflections in technogenic mineral deposits are the relatively small sizes of grains — crystallites and high microdistortions of the crystal lattice compared to their natural analogues. It is shown that in order to establish the nature of carbonate deposits of oilfield equipment, it is necessary to measure diffraction patterns of natural and technogenic minerals under the same shooting conditions. Subsequently, the obtained diffraction patterns are analyzed and X-ray diffraction data on the microstructure of the studied minerals are determined. It has been established that in technogenic calcite the crystallite sizes in all arbitrarily selected directions (hkl) are more than 1.6 times smaller than in its natural analogue. The X-ray diffraction method has shown that the average value of microdistortion of the crystal lattice of technogenic calcite is 1.7 times greater than that of its natural analogue. As a result of comparing X-ray diffraction data on the fine structure of mineral deposits of oilfield equipment with those obtained from core material, the nature of the formation of the analyzed minerals is established. To confirm the XRD results, visual studies using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were also carried out.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"5 31","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140410154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
