At the same time, the processes of displacement of oil by water from productive formations and, in particular, the processes of capillary impregnation of the rock, are characterized by the processes of formation of microvolumes precisely of immobile residual oil in its pore space. Meanwhile, when conducting laboratory studies of rock samples using existing methods, another process is physically reproduced — the process of displacement of water by oil, during which microvolumes of residual water, rather than oil, are formed.This difference in the structure of the oil-water medium leads to a significant difference between the capillary pressure functions determined by traditional methods and the capillary pressure functions that control the distribution of oil and water phases in the pore space of rocks in the processes of displacement of oil from them by water pumped into the reservoir.This difference is especially significant when flooding low-permeability rocks characterized by high capillary pressure values.The work suggests possible approaches to conducting laboratory studies of rock cores that are more consistent with the structural features of the oil-water environment during flooding of productive formations.For the most complete capillary impregnation of low-permeable layers of a layered heterogeneous formation with water from quickly watered high-permeability layers, a method is proposed that consists in the fact that the water pumped into the formation must contain the minimum required amount of oil, ensuring the mobility (connectivity) of the oil phase in the watered high-permeability layers.For this purpose, water from production wells containing a certain amount of residual oil can be used for injection into the reservoir. The economic feasibility of the proposed method should be justified by the results of computer modeling of capillary impregnation processes, taking into account the described features of capillary pressure functions characteristic ofprocesses of oil displacement from productive formations during their waterflooding.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"53 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141016726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mamedov","doi":"10.17122/ngdelo-2024-2-175-182","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17122/ngdelo-2024-2-175-182","url":null,"abstract":"Aggressive salts contained in formation waters accelerate the processes of corrosion and salt deposition in oilfield equipment, which leads to unforeseen accidents, contamination of soil and groundwater with harmful substances, as a result of which the ecological balance of the environment is disrupted. Corrosion and scaling that occur during oil production create difficulties during the operation of wells, and, consequently, increase the cost of produced oil.This article covers the results of studies concerning two compositions developed from technical phosphatide - an emulsion obtained by hydration of vegetable oils, as well as sodium hexametaphosphate, ammophos and polypropylene glycol bottoms. When vegetable oils are treated with water and steam (hydration process), the phospholipids contained in the oils combine with water and are released in the form of precipitates called phosphatide emulsions. Such emulsions consist of 45–75 % water, and the rest is phospholipids in the vegetable oil sediment.Technical phosphatides are a group of esters that contain a phosphoric acid residue associated with an amino alcohol. They are natural surfactants and are non-toxic.Preliminary studies have shown that each of the chemical compounds included in the developed reagents has certain inhibitory properties, but when formulated, these compounds provide a synergistic effect.Based on the results of laboratory studies, it was found that at an optimal concentration of reagents of 200 mg/l, the developed compositions provide protection of equipment from corrosion destruction by 94–95 %, and from scaling by 87–88 %. The developed mixed-type inhibitors at optimal concentrations equally effectively inhibit both cathodic and anodic processes on the electrode.The use of these inhibitors leads to the prevention of steel corrosion in the two-phase oil-electrolyte system, as well as to a significant reduction in the rate of scaling.The proposed new compositions can be used in oil wells and in-field transport systems, as well as in reservoir pressure maintenance systems to protect against corrosion and scale deposits.Field tests of the corrosion inhibitor were carried out in deep pumping wells at the Bibieybatneft oil and gas production department. Tests have shown that as a result of using the inhibitor, the protective effect at a concentration of 200 mg/l was 89–90 %, and the effect of salt deposition was 70 %.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"98 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141017659","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These methods are given special attention due to the constant decline in the availability of oil resources. One type of EOR is the tertiary method - a chemical method that involves the use of synthetic substances for mining. Liquid flooding in the presence of a surfactant is a common chemical EOR, and microemulsions belong to these systems. The injection of the microemulsion rim reduces the interfacial tension between the crude oil and the formation fluid, which results in the mobilization of a significant portion of the residual oil. Recently, the possibility of simultaneous use of nanoparticles and chemicals to increase the efficiency of the processes of increasing oil recovery has been considered. In this work, nanoparticles participate in the role of microemulsion stabilization, and their joint effect on the displacement capacity of oil from the bulk model of a porous medium is also analyzed. The work is aimed at studying the effect of adding silicon oxide nanoparticles to a microemulsion solution, which is an agent for displacing viscous oil from a bulk porous medium. In the experiment, laboratory studies of oil displacement by various compositions, including surfactants, salt, alcohol and nanoparticles, were carried out on two types of bulk models assembled from glass beads and quartz sand, phase saturations were determined at different points in time, and displacement capacity graphs were built. The oil displacement study was carried out for six liquids: water, mineralized water, nanofluid, aqueous solution with surfactant, also a solution for microemulsion without and with the addition of nanoparticles. It has been found that the effect of adding nanoparticles to the microemulsion composition in the case of bulk models consisting of glass beads leads to a slight increase in the volume of displaced oil. In the case of bulk models consisting of core material, an increase in residual oil saturation is observed, which is associated with adsorption of particles on the surface of core material.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"96 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141016240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To date, significant progress has been made abroad in understanding the mechanisms of damage to DCR; numerous measures have been formulated, tested for widespread use, and have been used for a considerable time to improve the resistance to operational damage of DCRs. There is an urgent need to adapt and use positive foreign experience in the domestic practice of designing and operating DCRs, which will allow for a significant reduction in their damageability. Among the measures to increase the resistance to operational damage of DCRs, the most important place is occupied by the determination of technical requirements for their material design. The article compares the technical requirements for the material design of the DCR in domestic and foreign design practice, and analyzes the operating experience of the DCR with different material designs. Data on recorded damage obtained during the operation of DCRs is presented, data on the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the materials used in the manufacture of DCRs, the results of technical diagnostics of DCRs are provided with illustrative materials of damage zones of DCRs. One of the most significant trends in the development of gel forming compounds for well water shutoff in the last 10 years has been the use of nanocomposites. The base polymers for nanocomposites used for water shutoff operations are either synthetic or biopolymer origin. The article highlights the novelty and prospects of using nanoparticles in sealing compositions. Various nanocomponent additives are used to increase the success of the use of hydrogel polymer systems in order to limit water inflow and expand the scope of their application in complicated reservoir conditions. These include carbon and mineral nanoparticles, which increase the stability and strength of crosslinked gels in formation conditions.In this paper, we consider the optimization of the repair and insulation operations design using gels for well water shutoff using mathematical modeling, which helps to justify the volume of hydrogel injection and calculate the necessary pressure gradients at which the sealing screen remains stable. The paramount importance of determining the source of well flooding is emphasized, depending on which the processing design is already being built, and appropriate materials are selected; trends in the development of repair and insulation operations at the present stage are traced. Based on the results of the implementation of the proposed model by numerical methods, the authors constructed diagrams of the stability of the waterproofing screen depending on the fracture width, screen size, gel injection rate and reservoir permeability. The technique proposed in the work allows to correctly select and optimize the technological parameters of the operation to maintain the stability of the screen in specific geological conditions.Mathematical modeling allows us to strictly justify the volume of injection of the gel screen, increase the technological and economic efficiency of the process, and in large fields — to rank wells according to the priority of processing. Oilfield practice in various regions of the country fully confirms the main conclusions made in this review article. Preliminary mathematical modeling and the introduction of microdispersions into gel formulations can significantly increase the efficiency of water shutoff operations. The next step in the development of water insulation technologies is the use of nanodispersions, which look very promising in laboratory modeling and are no longer exotic materials with unrealistic cost.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"122 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141017512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The solubilizing properties of new types of fatty ethoxylated alcohols have been exploited during formulation development. A conductometric method was used to control the assembly of the formulations. After evaluating the stability of the resulting compositions, physicochemical properties were evaluated, including thermal stability and corrosiveness. The freezing point of the compositions was evaluated at temperatures down to minus 40 °C. The search for stable compositions was carried out for aggressive application conditions: at 90 ° C for models of mineralized formation waters having a total amount of dissolved salts in the range of 100-300 g/l. Ranges including critical concentrations of formulations at which colloidal structures are stable and exhibit maximum surface activity were evaluated. When determining the interfacial tension at the surfactant-hydrocarbon liquid solution boundary, a number of developed compositions showed ultra-low interfacial tension (less than 0.01 mN/m). Biodegradability was evaluated for compositions showing the best properties. According to the results of the assessment, biodegradability was more than 98 %, which reduces environmental risks. The results obtained by the authors show that a number of compositions collected by conductometric method are stable under aggressive conditions and can be used in the field of chemical methods for increasing oil recovery. The resulting compositions were adapted to reduce human factors in subsequent applications. The results reflect the potential of these approaches in adapting and selecting surfactant compositions for chemical waterflooding to enhance oil recovery. The development of technologies for the ethoxylation of higher fatty alcohols allows the manufacturability of processes for the production, collection and treatment of oil and gas. The development of practices for the use of new chemical technologies will expand the capabilities of subsoil users and reduce the risks associated with the use of large-scale chemical products.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"90 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141016259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, by decomposing the XRD — based quantitative data on the mineral composition of the core of the Bazhenov suite into the main rock-forming oxides and further comparing them with reliable X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) data, an unsatisfactory convergence between them was established. At the same time, significant differences in the results of XRD and XRF have been shown in terms of oxides of silicon, sodium, magnesium, potassium, and iron, both at large and small mass fractions. It has been found that even with perfect XRD, achieved by optimizing the standard mineral structure parameters (lattice period, crystallite size, crystal lattice microdistortion, absorption coefficient, crystallographic texture, background) and achieving a very high degree of convergence (more than 95%) of experimental and theoretical diffractograms, the differences between oxide forms are still significant. It is shown, that the results of XRD of Bazhenov suite are questioned due to detected inconsistencies in oxide forms. Using the analysis of multiple factors and data from diffractograms of many samples, it has been established that the identified differences are primarily caused by the use of incorrect initial atomic-structure parameters of minerals in modeling. It is shown that rock minerals in the Bazhenov suite are primarily characterized by significant changes in the values of atomic scattering factors and significant displacements of atomic positions in the nodes of the crystal lattice, caused by the action of the high pressures and temperatures in the formation. For the first time, the XRD algorithm that has been developed, is presented and implemented in Bazhenov suite rocks, with consideration of the state of atoms in the analyzed mineral. Furthermore, it was found that the authors XRD approach enables the identification and quantification of the Bazhenov suite minerals with a relatively low content, which are challenging to identify during traditional XRD.","PeriodicalId":515328,"journal":{"name":"Petroleum Engineering","volume":"126 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141017020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the constant consumption of natural gas, there is a need for efficient methods of its transportation and storage. One of the ways of transportation and storage of natural gas is its liquefaction.In the case of low-tonnage liquefied natural gas (LNG) production complexes, where we are talking about small volumes of production of the order of several thousand tons of LNG per year, in comparison with large-tonnage production, where productivity amounts to millions of tons of LNG per year, the efficiency of storage processes comes to the fore, as this allows for reliable and economically feasible operation of small-scale LNG complexes.In this context, determining the operating parameters of cryogenic tanks for low-tonnage storage of liquefied natural gas is becoming an urgent research topic. The method of storing cryogenic products in semi-insulated tanks has a number of advantages, such as low energy consumption, high efficiency, and long storage time.This article is devoted to determining the parameters of the cryogenic tank operation during low-tonnage storage of liquefied natural gas.
