The present study aims to analyze the credit utilization pattern and credit gap for grape cultivation and value addition (raisin making) in Vijayapura district, which is having the highest area under grape cultivation in Karnataka state. As the grape requires high maintenance expenses, its economic analysis is of great importance in its present status. The primary data was collected from 90 respondent grape farmers in the study area. The finding of the study revealed that the sample farmers borrowed an average of ₹ 1,46,883 from all the institutional sources for grape cultivation, and the utilization of borrowed institutional credit for grape production was ₹ 1,09,376 (74.5%), and ₹ 37,507 (25.5%) of borrowed institutional credit was diverted for raisin production. For raisin making the sample farmers borrowed a total of ₹ 1,67,372 in credit from non-institutional sources in the study area. ₹ 138,440 (82.72%) of borrowed non-institutional credit was utilized for raisin making and ₹ 28,932 (17.28%) of borrowed credit was diverted other purposes by the sample farmers. The total credit gap was found to be 58.49, 59.97, and 59.12 per cent from commercial banks, regional rural banks, and cooperative bank/societies respectively. The findings also indicated that the sample farmers used the borrowed institutional and non-institutional credit more effectively to increase their revenue, diverting it less often for other uses. Many farmers do not receive institutional credit in an adequate quantity, at the appropriate time, or at a reasonable cost. Therefore, there is a need to focus on existing access and the quantum of formal credit used for agricultural purposes by different farmers in rural areas of Vijayapura district.","PeriodicalId":510783,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Experimental Agriculture International","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141815407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis of variance revealed significant differences among the genotypes for the studied traits. Genotype Pusa Purvi produced the maximum number of fruits per vine (46.67), whereas, Pusa Rasdar produced the least number of fruits (12.33) per vine. The longest fruits were recorded in Pant Karela 4 (24 cm) followed by Phule Green Gold (19.37 cm) and Priya (19 cm), whereas, the smallest fruits were found in Pusa Purvi (5.07 cm). The genotype Pusa Rasdar exhibited the maximum fruit diameter (6.53 cm) and highest fruit weight (148.14 g), while Pusa Purvi exhibited the minimum diameter (2.72 cm). The genotype Konkan Tara (1.96 kg) followed by Pusa Rasdar (1.79 kg) and Priya (1.60 kg) exhibited the maximum fruit yield per vine. These genotypes may be selected as parents in further breeding programme to improve the crop in terms of yield traits.","PeriodicalId":510783,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Experimental Agriculture International","volume":"25 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141819367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estimates of PCV were found to be higher than estimates of GCV for all eleven characters it showing that the apparent variation is not only due to genotypes but also due to the influence of the environment. Higher GCV and PCV were observed for number of primary branches per plant and seed yield per plant. The estimates of heritability were observed to be higher for all the characters. Genetic advance as percentage of mean was higher observed for the number of primary branches per plant, seed yield per plant, number of seeds per pod, number of pods per plant, pod length, harvest index and biological yield per plant.","PeriodicalId":510783,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Experimental Agriculture International","volume":" 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141822842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 60 RBK staff and 60 farmers of Annamayya District from 30 mandals were interviewed with help of pre structured interview schedule. The results of the study revealed that major constraints faced by the VAAs were Daily Updating of Digital APPs consuming more time (86.66%) followed by Lack of need based training to VAAs (81.66%). The major suggestions were reducing work load followed by more capacity building programmes should be conducted. The major constraints faced by the famers towards RBK services were non availability of fertilizers on time (85.00 %) followed by Non-availability of improved varieties of seed/breeds /fertilizers (75.00%). The major suggestions were Timely supply of fertilizers followed by the availability of improved varieties of seed/breeds /fertilizers.
