It is necessary to construct a more energy‐efficient electro‐thermal AI/DI system. This study employed the multi‐walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) film with good electro‐thermal properties as the heating element in the composite wing. The electro‐thermal and mechanical reliability of the film‐embedded composites were verified through experiments and the construction method for the electro‐thermal AI/DI system of composite wing based on the MWCNT films through numerical simulation was explored. The results showed that embedding of MWCNT film into the composite created electro‐thermal composites with superior electro‐thermal and mechanical properties. After being subjected to 100 heating/cooling cycles, the equilibrium temperature of film‐embedded composites varied by only ±0.35°C. The flexural and shear strength showed low degradation of 6.02% and 1.03%, respectively. The protective surface of the AI/DI system for a scaled model wing meeting the airworthiness requirements was determined to cover 55.3% of the chord length. A zonal heating strategy was provided to reduce the anti‐icing energy consumption by 44.45% energy. The feasibility of the construction method of the AI/DI system was confirmed at −30°C with a wind speed of 20 m/s by experiment.","PeriodicalId":510403,"journal":{"name":"Polymer Composites","volume":"47 7","pages":"6269-6282"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdfdirect/10.1002/pc.70556","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147906418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study proposed a strategy to improve the performance of uncrosslinked pressure‐sensitive adhesives by using a Janus‐nanoparticle‐toughened three‐dimensional network structure. Specifically, reactive Janus nanoparticles (JPs) were designed and reinforced polyisobutylene/acrylic polymer semi‐interpenetrating network (Semi‐IPN) PSAs via a combination of free radical‐initiated cross‐linking and chain entanglement. The morphological structure, mechanical performance, adhesion properties, and rheological behavior of the Semi‐IPN PSAs were systematically investigated. The results demonstrated that the shear strength and peel strength of PSAs that retained the unique properties of polyisobutylene (PIB) increased by 362% and 301%, respectively. In addition, although the initial tack dropped by two grades, the cold flow was significantly reduced. This multiple interaction between the reactive JPs and the PSAs matrix substantially improves the performance of uncrosslinked PSAs. This offers valuable insights for the rational design of high‐performance adhesive systems.","PeriodicalId":510403,"journal":{"name":"Polymer Composites","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-10-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdfdirect/10.1002/pc.70589","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147332616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, an organic–inorganic copolymerization strategy is proposed to synthesize a hydrogel with microcosmic soft‐hard components, which displays good impact resistance (12,500 s −1 , 188 MPa) without damage at high strain rates. Moreover, when combined with Kevlar fiber, soft‐hard multiscale structures from molecular to macroscale have been constructed, which exhibit excellent impact energy dissipation capacity (88.67 MJ/m 3 ) and impact resistance (5000 s −1 , 394.62 MPa) under high strain rates. An SiO 2 protective layer was formed on the surface of the strontium aluminate phosphor after drying, which provided the strontium aluminate phosphor with a high degree of water resistance. The pH of its aqueous solution remained at 8.5 after being placed in water for 400 min, after which the fluorescent wood‐plastic composite 3D printing substrate was prepared. This was achieved by utilizing Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) and poplar wood flour as the substrate, with the addition of the SiO 2 SrAl 2 O 4 : Eu 2+ , Dy 3+ phosphor. The preparation of the fluorescent wood‐plastic composite (WPC) 3D printing substrate is outlined below. The composite 3D printing substrate has been found to demonstrate a tensile strength of 48.64 MPa when subjected to an SiO 2 Al 2 O 4 : Eu 2+ , Dy 3+ phosphor content of 4%; at the same time, it has a good fluorescent effect. The substrate has been shown to enhance the versatility of PLA composites and reduce the cost of fluorescent WPC. These materials are both waterproof, making them suitable for a wider range of applications. They exhibit favorable nighttime fluorescent properties and permit experimentation with personalized customization through 3D printing.","PeriodicalId":510403,"journal":{"name":"Polymer Composites","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147331081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO 2 NPs) modified with a combination of silane coupling agent KH560 and hexadecyltrimethoxysilane were employed to functionalize bamboo fibers. Epoxy resin served as the binder, and novel BFCs were fabricated via a hot‐press densification process. The results indicated that modified TiO 2 NPs significantly enhanced the comprehensive properties of BFCs by constructing a nanoscale rough surface and forming an organosilicon network. Using 2 wt% of modified TiO 2 NPs resulted in increases of 511.17% and 219.52% in the tensile and flexural strength, respectively, with the final values reaching 336.45 and 491.81 MPa. The water contact angle was 104°, representing a 185.71% increase compared with that of natural bamboo. The thermal stability of BFCs was also 5.38°C higher than that of natural bamboo. After UV aging, the color stability of BFCs decreased to 7.55. The results show that this modification strategy significantly enhanced the mechanical properties and weather resistance of BFCs, demonstrating its promising potential for outdoor architectural applications, such as wall panels and flooring.","PeriodicalId":510403,"journal":{"name":"Polymer Composites","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdfdirect/10.1002/pc.70549","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147333172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the energy storage capability of polymer dielectric composites remains restricted due to the challenge of concurrently increasing both dielectric permittivity and breakdown strength. Herein, we demonstrate improved energy storage performance in hot‐stretched composites comprising poly(arylene ether nitrile) (PEN) and sulfonated poly(arylene ether nitrile) (SPEN)‐functionalized barium titanate nanoparticles (BTNP) (SPEN@BTNP). Due to the similar main‐chain structure of SPEN to PEN, SPEN@BTNP is well dispersed in the PEN matrix. As a result, an enhanced dielectric constant of 6.60 at 10 3 Hz and an energy storage density of 1.07 J‧cm −3 with a filler content of 20 wt% are observed. Upon uniaxial hot‐stretching, both the permittivity and breakdown strength of these composites are further enhanced. Specially, at 20 wt% of filler content, the hot‐stretched composite exhibits a dielectric constant of 7.04 and a breakdown strength of 198.1 kV/mm. Therefore, an energy density of 1.22 J‧cm −3 , which is 50% higher than that of pristine PEN (0.82 J‧cm −3 ), is obtained for this hot‐stretched composite. The improved energy density of these PEN composites demonstrates that uniaxial hot‐stretching is an effective way for enhancing the energy density of dielectric polymer composites.","PeriodicalId":510403,"journal":{"name":"Polymer Composites","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147331352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following the salt formation reaction and subsequent emulsification process, a waterborne sizing agent was successfully obtained. To enhance the adhesion strength between the carbon fibers (CF) and sizing agent, 3,4‐dihydroxybenzoic acid containing a catechol group was chosen as the neutralizing agent and introduced into the PU. The particle size of the PU sizing agent was 124.3 nm, indicating its suitability for long‐term storage. After treating with 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt% concentrations of the sizing agent, the CF referred to as CF1, CF2, and CF3, respectively, were used to prepare CF/polyamide 6 (PA6) composites. The sizing agent considerably improved the interfacial bonding between the CF and the PA6 matrix, with the CF2/PA6 composites showing the greatest enhancement. Specifically, the flexural strength, interlaminar shear strength and interfacial shear strength of the treated composites were enhanced by 28.3%, 47.5%, and 52.3%, respectively, compared with those of the unsized composites. The interfacial failure mechanism of the composites under stress was elucidated via fracture morphology characterization. These findings offer a valuable reference for the future development of novel waterborne PU sizing agents.","PeriodicalId":510403,"journal":{"name":"Polymer Composites","volume":"47 7","pages":"6643-6652"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147881774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current reinforcement designs primarily incorporate bionic sandwich structures and Bouligand structures, with single bionic structures approaching the upper limit of their reinforcement efficacy. This study proposes a hybrid approach combining Bouligand and sandwich structures to fabricate wood fiber‐reinforced composites, synergistically integrating the lightweight and high‐strength advantages of sandwich structures with the crack deflection mechanism of helical arrangements. The effects of various hybridization strategies on flexural and impact properties were systematically investigated, along with the enhancement mechanisms of hybrid structures and composite performance under extreme environmental conditions. Results indicate that the reinforced structure attains a bending strength of 289.08 MPa and a flexural modulus of 36.16 GPa, representing 1.42‐fold and 5.36‐fold improvements over conventional wood fiber‐reinforced composites, respectively. The impact energy absorption capacity reaches 3.04 J/mm, surpassing that of single bionic structures. Additionally, the composite maintains exceptional mechanical stability under extreme conditions. These superior characteristics establish the developed composite as a sustainable alternative for aerospace applications, personal protective equipment, and other impact‐resistant applications. Herein, we propose a large‐scale design of core‐shell structural filaments for lightweight and high‐performance composites via the FDM printing technique. The natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) treatment improves the interfacial compatibility between wood lignocellulose and PLA in the filament, resulting in enhanced mechanical properties (tensile strength increased by 14.5%) and improved thermal stability (mass residue rate increased by 188.2%). The FDM‐printed composite with 60% diamond performed the best mechanical properties, as manifested by the uniform stress distribution in the DIC results of the tensile sample. Moreover, a thin layer of CNT (1 wt%) is wrapped on the surface of the filament to form the core‐shell structure during the extrusion process. The as‐obtained composite filament not only demonstrates outstanding antistatic properties with a low volume resistivity of 3.01 Ω·cm but also retains its excellent mechanical properties with a high tensile strength of 54.38 MPa.
