The research design adopted for the study was action research. The target population was level 400 students of a College of Education and the population size was three hundred and ninety-two (392) whilst the sample size was sixty-three (63), comprising of pre-service mathematics teachers, which was selected based on purposive sampling. The instruments used for the study were Intern Teaching Assessment Form (ITAF) and Teaching Evaluation Comment Form (TECF). In the pre-intervention stage, a first supervision was conducted to identify the strength and weaknesses of the students before the feedback from the observation was discussed and reflections were held with the pre-service teachers to serve as the intervention. A second supervision was conducted to evaluate the intervention strategies. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in students’ second supervision scores (M=71.0000) compared to the first supervision scores (M=64.8033). A third supervision was conducted 7 weeks after the second supervision using ITAF and TECF to check students’ retention of teaching skills and knowledge, which the result showed no significant improvement in pre-service mathematics teachers’ second supervision scores (M=71.0000) compared to the third supervision scores (M=71.1475), indicating pre-service mathematics teachers’ retention of the teaching skills and knowledge had been exceptionally good. Supervisors' post-observation feedback enhances pre-service mathematics teachers' interpersonal communication, classroom management, student support strategies, leadership, and practical knowledge of standard-based curriculum implementation, thereby improving their instructional style. The study recommends the extension of the Extended Teaching duration to encompass an entire academic year in order to enhance the practical component of the preservice teacher training program and potentially impact the quality teaching and learning policy agenda.","PeriodicalId":505151,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Current Research International","volume":"9 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140440903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this study was to describe the frequency of the main MDR microorganisms associated with bacterial co-infections in patients hospitalized with COVID-19. To this end, we carried out a search in the PubMed and Regional Portal of the Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases, from December 2019 to September 2023, with the keywords COVID-19, co-infection and multidrug-resistant microorganism. Of the 535 articles initially found, only 14 were selected for analysis. Gram-negative bacteria were most frequently involved in bacterial co-infections in patients with COVID-19 (70%). Among these, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Acinetobacter baumannii predominated, with 85.71% and 78.57%, respectively. Among gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus (71.42%) was the most common. Among MDR microorganisms, the prevalent species were carbapenem-resistant gram-negative bacilli (32%) and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (85.7%). Furthermore, a higher frequency of MDR microorganisms was observed in patients with COVID-19 in intensive care units (ICU). Thus, the findings of the present study indicate the need for attention to infections caused by multidrug-resistant microorganisms in critically ill patients with COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":505151,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Current Research International","volume":"20 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140438904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is been cultivated in South Asia around 4000 years. The genus Mangifera consists totally 49 species, but only 41 species are considerable. Mango is the most cultivated and important fruit around the world especially in India. Since ages, the people from ancient India describe mango tree as ‘Kalpavriksha’ which means wish granting tree. Mango is the eight most important fruit crop grown throughout the world which it contains the nutritive values, minerals, vitamins and dietary fibers. Mango is highly perishable due to climacteric nature of the fruit, it produces high amount of ethylene which is known as ‘Ripening hormone’. However, the fruit quality and commercialization were drastically reduced by the fungus anthracnose incited by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides; it causes the post-harvest losses of about 35 to 40 percentage, becaming a major post-harvest disease of mango. Many pre-harvest and post-harvest management practices have been practiced to control mango anthracnose including chemical methods. This review summarizes an overview on exhibiting of this disease, the factors influencing them and the recent management approaches to sustain the fruit quality and maintain the supply chain of mango.","PeriodicalId":505151,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Current Research International","volume":"73 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139959854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aims to evaluate the chemical composition and the antioxidant, anticholinesterase, and antifungal potential of the essential oil from T. guianensis leaves. The plant material was collected at Arco Estadual do Cocó, with prior authorization from the Municipal Environment Department. The essential oil was extracted through the hydrodistillation process with a Clevenger-type apparatus, and the constituents were evaluated through Gas Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The antioxidant potential was assessed through free radicals: DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) and ABTS+ (2,2-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)) in a 96-well plate. Antifungal activity was evaluated using the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute - M38-A protocol (CLSI, 2018). Gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry revealed the presence of constituents such as eugenol (59.00%), α-copaene (0.40%), β-caryophyllene (29.91%), α-humulene in T. guianensis. The essential oil demonstrated very promising antioxidant and anticholinesterase potential in In vitro studies. Molecular docking regarding acetylcholinesterase enzyme inhibition revealed that α-copaene has superior action compared to the drug physostigmine. The results of molecular docking for Candida albicans showed that α-copaene and α-humulene interacted in the same binding region as the PepA inhibitor against SAP5. This indicates their action is similar to the aspartic protease inhibitor, in addition to the possibility of a synergistic effect with the drug fluconazole. This is the first study of the biological potential of the essential oil from T. guianensis leaves, thus revealing its high potential for future studies in the scientific community. Therefore, we can infer that the essential oil of T. guianensis is a source of antioxidant, anticholinesterase, and antifungal constituents, with promising therapeutic potential in the management of Alzheimer's disease and Candida infections.","PeriodicalId":505151,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Current Research International","volume":"136 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139843393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
