With respect to its growing application, the present study aims to evaluate ERCP outcomes and complications. This cross-sectional study was performed using the data from 824 patients who underwent ERCP during 2014-2017 in Qom Shahid Beheshti hospital. Data were collected by a checklist and analyzed using SPSS V22. Among 824 patients, 397 (48.18%) were male and 427 (51.82%) were female with a mean age of 47 ± 6 years. The most common indications for ERCP were choledocholithiasis (78.28%) and cholestasis (20.27%), respectively. Total prevalence of complications was 15.66% and mortality rate was 0.72%. The most common complications were pancreatitis (9.59%) and bleeding (3.28%), respectively. A serum amylase level of greater than 160 could predict pancreatitis with sensitivity of 93.3% and specificity of 90.3%. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography-related complications are inevitable but can be controlled by early diagnosis and clinical experience. Gastroenterology Nursing on behalf of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates The causes of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding in pediatrics are diverse. Unlike Meckel's diverticulum, anal fissure, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, and infectious colitis, vascular malformation is not typically considered an etiology of GI bleeding in pediatrics, which can easily cause a delay in diagnosis or be misdiagnosed as reported (Abdoon, 2010; Al-Mehaidib, Alnassar, & Alshamrani, 2009). Vascular malformation, as an important cause of lower GI bleeding, is usually diagnosed in the elderly (Sami, Al-Araji, & Ragunath, 2014). It can affect any segment of the tract, usually the cecum and right colon in adults (Nishimura et al., 2015). Previous studies on children have shown that segmental lesions in the GI tract were found (Abdoon, 2010; Al-Mehaidib et al., 2009; Chuang et al., 2011; de la Torre Mondragón, Gómez, Mora Tiscarreño, & Ramírez Mayans, 1995; Uhlig, Stephan, Deutscher, Kiess, & Richter, 2004), but involvement of the entire colon is rare. In this case, we report an Asian boy presenting with GI bleeding diagnosed as diffused vascular malformation of the entire colon. Approximately 20%-30% of these patients will have further subsequent attacks, described as acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP). Patients who are repeatedly admitted to hospitals suffer significant psychological problems and mental hardships. In the current study, we aimed to illuminate the lived experience of inpatients with ARP from Chongqing, China. A purposive sample of 13 ARP patients was recruited from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Semistructured and in-depth qualitative interviews were adopted in this phenomenological research. Data were analyzed by Colaizzi's Method of descriptive phenomenology and feedback on early findings from the participants. All interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed with the permission of the participants. Five themes presented in the study: anxiety and fear, lack of related knowledge, inevitability and helplessness, guilt and shame, hope, and perseverance. Overall, the ARP inpatients showed complexed experience, both active and positive. They also performed poor compliance during their hospitalization but wished for professional knowledge. The present study aimed to assess the optimal colonoscopic surveillance interval after normal baseline screening colonoscopy to avoid overuse or underuse of colonoscopy. This retrospective study included individuals with normal baseline colonoscopy who had undergone at least 2 follow-up colonoscopy examinations at the Digestive Endoscopy Center of our hospital between 2000 and 2013. The risk factors for adenoma and the optimal colonoscopic surveillance interval were assessed. A total of 1,005 individuals (419 men; mean age, 49.34 ± 13.29 years) were included in the study. Of these, 169 individuals had adenomas at colonoscopic surveillance (mean, 1.32 ± 0.79 procedures). The mean adenoma diameter was 0.54 ± 0.38 cm, and the mean number of adenomas was 1.76 ± 1.29. The mean adenoma surveillance interval was 4.76 ± 2.89 years. The risk factors for adenoma identification were age more than 50 years and male gender. The optimal colonoscopic surveillance interval was 4.76 years according to an adenoma detection rate of 5%. The optimal colonoscopic surveillance interval is around 5 years for individuals with normal baseline colonoscopy. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of patients' psychological state before elective colonoscopy on the efficacy of the sedation regimens. Eighty outpatients who underwent an elective colonoscopy were included in our study. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale questionnaire was self-administered to evaluate basal anxiety and depression state. The rate of baseline discomfort was evaluated by a standard 100-mm visual analog scale. Sedation was obtained alternatively with a midazolam-meperidine or midazolam-fentanyl combination. There were no statistically significant differences between the fentanyl and meperidine groups on body mass index, age, and gender composition. Patients in the meperidine group reported less pain during colonoscopy than patients in the fentanyl group. There were statistically significant positive correlations in the meperidine group with the distress, anxiety, and depression. Our study has pointed out greater effectiveness of the midazolam plus meperidine regimen, equal recovery times, and no significant differences in the duration of the endoscopic examinations. Evidence published since 2012 demonstrates risks associated with taking proton pump inhibitors for longer than 8 weeks. Primary care providers mostly deprescribe proton pump inhibitors for persons not meeting criteria for long-term use. Many patients resist discontinuation.A 3-month evidence-based practice education project was conducted by a nurse practitioner to improve primary care provider peer deprescribing successes with appropriate patients in an outpatient California-based veteran primary care clinic. Fifteen primary care providers were pretested about usual care practices between 2 comparable clinics. Five primary care providers at the smaller clinic location were educated about long-term proton pump inhibitor use risks and introduced to 3 evidence-based practice guidelines using tapering techniques with follow-up care.A Canadian 2017 evidence-based practice proton pump inhibitor deprescribing guideline was proposed for translation into practice. Primary care providers voted to pilot this guideline, dependent upon nursing support. Primary care providers denied frustration with usual care practices, even as all were willing to try an evidence-based practice change between pre- and post-test surveys. Support for peer-led evidence-based practice on-site coaching increased from 87% to 100%. No bibliometric analysis exists on Web of Science regarding cirrhosis nursing research. The status of current research, including hotspots and trends, has been assessed in this study through a bibliometric analysis. Literature related to cirrhosis and nursing was identified via Web of Science. Data were then analyzed using CiteSpace software. From 1986 to 2018, a total of 179 articles were published in 109 journals by 830 researchers in 36 countries/regions. The terms \"cirrhosis,\" \"management,\" and \"quality of life\" emerged most frequently and indicated the hotspots in liver cirrhosis nursing literature. Among all countries/regions, the United States contributed the most research overall; Asia also played an important role in the field of liver cirrhosis nursing research. The journal Gastroenterology Nursing published the greatest number of articles. Liver cirrhosis nursing research has attracted increasing amounts of attention around the world, although it remains less robust than other fields.
