This study developed a recombinant rabies virus, PVEGFP, expressing an EGFP protein based on PV strain to be applied in virus-neutralizing antibody (VNA) titration methods. Methods: The EGFP gene was inserted into the PVMCS strain, a previously discussed recombinant virus. The recombinant virus was applied in the rapid fluorescent focus inhibition test (RFFIT) VNA titration method, and six vaccinated persons were studied for validation. Results: The recombinant rabies strain showed similar propagation properties to its ancestry strain, PVMCS. It could also measure VNA titers in the RFFIT method not significantly different from those acquired using the CVS-11 virus. Conclusion: Utilizing the PVEGFP strain in the RFFIT method can produce rapid, reliable and affordable results.","PeriodicalId":503758,"journal":{"name":"Future Virology","volume":"18 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139596062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials & methods: Biopsies from 21 gastric cancer (4 positive EBER-ISH (EBVaGC) and 17 negative EBER-ISH) and 11 gastritis patients were analyzed using nested PCR and sequencing. Results: Genotype 1 (75%) was the predominant EBV genotype. The P-thr variant was the most common in all groups (positive EBER-ISH 75%, negative EBER-ISH 76.4%, and gastritis 81.8%), followed by P-ala. Additionally, the predominant LMP1 strain in all groups was Med. Sequencing analysis revealed a strong correlation between the P-thr and type 1. Conclusion: Since no preferential correlations were observed between distinct EBV variants and the study groups, these results might indicate geographic polymorphisms.","PeriodicalId":503758,"journal":{"name":"Future Virology","volume":"88 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139440488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
