The presented control scheme, built around sliding mode control approach and augmented an adaptive algorithm, is proposed to improve the tracking accuracy in presence of cross-axis effect. The closed-loop controlled imaging system is developed through integrating a 2-D micromirror with sidewall electrodes (SW), a laser source, NI field-programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware, the optics, position sensing detector (PSD) and photo detector (PD). The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed scheme is able to achieve accurate tracking of a reference triangular signal. Compared with open-loop control, the scanning performance is significantly improved, and a better 2-D image is obtained using the micromirror with the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":50296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Optomechatronics","volume":"10 1","pages":"1 - 13"},"PeriodicalIF":5.5,"publicationDate":"2016-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/15599612.2015.1095956","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"60483786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An accurate and precise evaluation of the FBG spectrum displacement is crucial for determining the amount of the physical quantity inducing such perturbations. The proposed method is based on the Fast Fourier Transform based Cross Correlation function. Such method is compared to Least Squares Fitting (LSF) and the centroid algorithms, pointing out remarkable improvements in accuracy, precision, and time consumption performance. In addition, a further improvement of the proposed algorithm is introduced. It consists in an iteratively performed Cross Correlation algorithm. It has been proved that such improvement leads to estimations characterized by better accuracy and precision, thanks also to a considerable reduction of the peak-locking effect due to the FBG spectral resolution.","PeriodicalId":50296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Optomechatronics","volume":"10 1","pages":"40 - 52"},"PeriodicalIF":5.5,"publicationDate":"2016-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/15599612.2016.1149895","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"60484073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compared to other interferometric sensors, the encoder is much more easy to mount, and the calibration more stable. A prototype has been built and validated experimentally by comparison with a commercial seismometer. It has a resolution of about 10 pm/√Hz. In order to further improve the resolution, two concepts of mechanical amplifiers have been studied and compared. One of them is shown to be extremely promising, provided that the amplifier does not stiffen the sensor.","PeriodicalId":50296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Optomechatronics","volume":"10 1","pages":"120 - 129"},"PeriodicalIF":5.5,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/15599612.2016.1217109","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"60484656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Single-view omnidirectional imaging systems provide a cost-effective and computationally-traceable solution for real-time inspection of infrastructure with a favorable size factor. We formulate, for the first time, the spatial cylindrical resolution of omnidirectional Catadioptric and Dioptric imaging systems with the focus on pipe inspection applications. We also provide a design guideline to achieve the highest resolution in these systems. First, we deliver a comprehensive study on optimal resolution in Catadioptric imaging systems which consist of a perspective pinhole camera, a collimated laser as the light source, and a reflective surface (i.e., hyperbolic mirror). Variation of the spatial resolution in terms of the camera's focal length, the mirror curvature, and the relative position between the laser projector and the camera is fully investigated via simulation and experiments. Also, the optimal resolution in Dioptric systems, which consist of a camera with compound refractive lenses (i.e., fish-eye lens) is studied and compared with that in Catadioptric systems. Tests were conducted on a 40-cm-diameter PVC pipe in a controlled laboratory environment.","PeriodicalId":50296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Optomechatronics","volume":"9 1","pages":"261 - 294"},"PeriodicalIF":5.5,"publicationDate":"2015-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/15599612.2015.1059536","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"60483670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It usually implies the use of microrobots controlled by an operator. The reliability of this approach has been already confirmed for micro-optical technologies. However, the characterization of assemblies has shown that the operator is the main source of inaccuracies in the teleoperated microassembly. Therefore, there is great interest in automating the microassembly process. One of the constraints of automation in microscale is the lack of high precision sensors capable to provide the full information about the object position. Thus, the usage of visual-based feedback represents a very promising approach allowing to automate the microassembly process. The purpose of this article is to characterize the techniques of object position estimation based on the visual data, i.e., visual tracking techniques from the ViSP library. These algorithms enables a 3-D object pose using a single view of the scene and the CAD model of the object. The performance of three main types of model-based trackers is analyzed and quantified: edge-based, texture-based and hybrid tracker. The problems of visual tracking in microscale are discussed. The control of the micromanipulation station used in the framework of our project is performed using a new Simulink block set. Experimental results are shown and demonstrate the possibility to obtain the repeatability below 1 µm.","PeriodicalId":50296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Optomechatronics","volume":"9 1","pages":"295 - 309"},"PeriodicalIF":5.5,"publicationDate":"2015-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/15599612.2015.1059532","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"60483602","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herein, we attempted to provide a solution to these issues with heterogeneous nanostructures. Firstly, Zinc oxide (ZnO)/cobalt oxide (Co3O4) heterojunction nanowires are prepared through facile fabrication methods. By assembling Co(OH)2 nanoplates on ZnO nanowire arrays, the ZnO/Co3O4 heterogeneous nanostructures are uniformly synthesized on ITO coated glass and wafer. Current (I)-voltage (V) measurement through conductive atomic force microscope shows excellent photovoltaic effect. And, the heterojunction nanostructures shows unprecedented high open circuit voltage. Therefore, the potential application of the heterogeneous nanostructures in solar cells is demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":50296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Optomechatronics","volume":"9 1","pages":"211 - 220"},"PeriodicalIF":5.5,"publicationDate":"2015-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/15599612.2015.1059533","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"60483752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In experiments, the time-resolved photoacoustic signal of glucose aqueous solution with different concentrations of 0-300 mg/dl were captured and averaged 512 times, and the photoacoustic peak-to-peak values were recorded using the wavelength scan in NIR region of 1300-2300 nm. The optimal characteristic wavelengths of glucose were determined via the difference spectral and the first derivative spectral algorithm, and correction models between peak-to-peak values of optimal wavelengths and concentration gradients were established using multivariate linear regression algorithm. Experimental results demonstrated that the profile and logarithm shape of time-resolved photoacoustic signal for glucose solutions were in good agreement with photoacoustic theories. Existing algorithms for determining the contrast values of the focal depth response require a high accurate phase shift of the fringe pattern illumination. The presented algorithm, which is robust against inaccurate phase shift of the fringe pattern, reduces significantly the requirements for the phase shift and consequently the costs of the microscope. The new algorithm was tested by a preliminary experiment, whereby the grating was shifted by an elastic guided micro-motion mechanism employing a low-cost stepper motor replacing the conventional expensive piezo drive. The determined focal depth response is very smooth and corresponds very well to the theoretical focal depth response.","PeriodicalId":50296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Optomechatronics","volume":"9 1","pages":"170 - 186"},"PeriodicalIF":5.5,"publicationDate":"2015-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/15599612.2015.1034904","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"60483299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
