Diffusion is of major importance in numerous areas of science and engineering, and the research of diffusion is vast and profound. This paper is the first in a stochastic `intro series' to the multidisciplinary field of diffusion. The paper sets off from a basic question: how to quantitatively measure diffusivity? Having answered the basic question, the paper carries on to a follow-up question regarding statistical behaviors of diffusion: what further knowledge can the diffusivity measure provide, and when can it do so? The answers to the follow-up question lead to an assortment of notions and topics including: persistence and anti-persistence; aging and anti-aging; spectral densities, white noise, and their generalizations; the Wiener-Khinchin theorem and its generalizations; and colored noises. Then, observing diffusion from a macro level, the paper culminates with: the universal emergence of power-law diffusivity; the three universal diffusion regimes -- one regular, and two anomalous; and the universal emergence of 1/f noise. The paper is entirely self-contained, and its prerequisites are undergraduate mathematics and statistics.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"24 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140980358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, we prove their properties, such as non-negativity, convexity, invariance, additivity, monotonicity and strong monotonicity. Next, we conduct research on relationships between standard symmetrized skew information and several well-known measures in one-qubit state, aiming to compare their similarities and differences. In addition, standard symmetrized skew information is used to study quantum uncertainty. We also give the definition of standard symmetrized skew information of assistance, and provide it a straightforward operational explanation for better understanding. Finally, standard symmetrized skew information can be applied to detect entanglement.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"40 24","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140981196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, quantum coherence is severely restricted by environmental noise in general quantum processing, indicated by the loss of information of a quantum system. Such processing can be described by the trade-offs between the coherence and the mixedness. Based on the l2 norm coherence, conditional von Neumann entropy and Wigner-Yanase skew information, we derive basis-independent constraints on the attainable quantum coherence imposed by the mixedness of a quantum state, which generalize the prior basis-dependent relations, provide fundamental insights into the latent coherence resources present within arbitrary quantum systems that undergo decoherence and quantify the inherent limits on extractable coherence imposed by environmental noise.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"39 24","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140982638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The balance equations for the 29 scalar fields are obtained from a transfer equation derived from the Enskog equation where the kinetic and potential parts of the new moments of the distribution function and production terms are calculated from Grad's distribution function for the basic fields. The transition from the 29 field theory to an eight field theory -- with mass density hydrodynamic velocity, absolute temperature and hydrodynamic angular velocity -- leads to the determination of the transport coefficients of the Navier-Stokes and Fourier laws. The transport coefficients are functions of the normal and tangential restitution coefficients and of the local equilibrium radial distribution function. The transport coefficients in the limiting case of elastic rough spheres is also determined.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"40 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140982634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instead of the Majorana operators, we use operators that are defined with relative spin transformations between the ladder operators. The eigenstates of these operators are shown to provide orthogonal bases, provided that the dual space is defined with the incorporation of a spin transformation. These bases then serve as quadrature bases in terms of which Wigner functionals are defined in a way equivalent to the bosonic case. As an application, we consider a two-level fermion system.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"128 s1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141002004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, they can seldom be treated with sufficient precision analytically if the corresponding stochastic delay differential equations (SDDEs) are nonlinear. This work presents a numerical algorithm for calculating the probability densities of processes described by nonlinear SDDEs. The algorithm is based on Markovian embedding and solves the problem by basic matrix operations. We validate it for a broad class of parameters using exactly solvable linear SDDEs and a cubic SDDE. Besides, we show how to apply the algorithm to calculate transition rates and first passage times for a Brownian particle diffusing in a time-delayed cusp potential.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"23 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141017122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Allee effect plays crucial role in population dynamics in ecology, where it is the challenging fact that per capita population growth rate is positively dependent on the population density of a species. In this paper, we inspect the famous Hastings and Powell (HP) model incorporating component Allee effect on top predator's reproduction. We analyse the updated model with the help of both analytical and numerical phenomena. Considering cost of Allee effect, half-saturation constant of prey as the key parameters, the Hopf bifurcations are also analysed. The directions of Hopf bifurcations at the critical values of Allee parameter and half-saturation constant of prey are studied theoretically by using normal form theory introduced by Hassard et al. The formulated model indicates that the system demonstrates chaotic, periodic and stable dynamics in the variation of key parameters. The chaos can be controlled for proper application of the large values of parameter used as the cost of Allee effect and also for small values of the parameter used as the half saturation constant of prey population. The results of this study are applicable in the field of wild ecosystem dynamics.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"35 32","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140657364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among them, we found a family of pretzel knots for which the transform has a fully factorised form, while for the remaining families considered it consists of sums of factorised terms. Their zero loci show a remarkable structure and, for all knots, they have the property that the modulus of the product of all the zeros equals unity.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"85 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140670661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, a concept of full quantum network nonlocality (FNN) which is stronger than network nonlocality (NN), has been defined and can be witnessed by Kerstjens-Gisin-Tavakoli (KGT) inequalities [Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 010403 (2022)]. In this letter, we explored the recycling of FNN as quantum resources by analyzing the FNN sharing between different combinations of observers. The FNN sharing in an extended bilocal scenario (consisting of two independent 2-qubit quantum states as sources) via weak measurements has been completely discussed. According to the different motivations of the observer-Charlie1, two types of possible FNN sharing, passive FNN sharing and active FNN sharing, can be investigated by checking the simultaneous violation of KGT inequalities between Alice-Bob-Charlie1 and Alice-Bob-Charlie2. Our results show that passive FNN sharing is impossible while active FNN sharing can be achieved by proper measurements, which indicates that FNN sharing in this scenario requires more cooperation by the intermediate observers compared with Bell nonlocality sharing and network nonlocality sharing.sharing.","PeriodicalId":502730,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical","volume":"75 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140675191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
