For the various application scenarios of smart manufacturing in Industry 4.0, versatile production tasks demand dynamic features both in production lines and manufacturing processes. Therefore, the design and performance of the corresponding data collection mechanisms are facing unprecedented challenges. In this work, we propose a unified data description and management framework. This framework possesses high flexibility that it is able to identify an unknown data type and accord an adequate description. Besides, the scalability of this framework enables the provision of handy interfaces for the exploitation of stored data. Then, we develop two network connectivity models in one dimension and two dimensions. These two models greatly facilitate the measurement of the level of connectivity for a wireless sensor network. At last, we elaborate a two-hop multi-sink routing scheme to alleviate the flooding problem. This scheme contains a novel r-Kruskal algorithm for the sink nodes and an efficient two-hop routing method for the whole network. The flooding effect can be neatly controlled with the two-hop scheme. Extensive experiments are conducted to evaluate our proposal. Simulation results show that our model has excellent adaptability to the scale of the network and possesses satisfactory performance in terms of both message overhead and data availability.","PeriodicalId":50177,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Information Science and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78648620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in real-life applications user may be interested in obtaining information about different types of objects, in terms of their neighboring relationship. The sets of different types of objects closer to each other are termed the heterogeneous neighboring object sets (or HNO sets for short). To provide users with object information by considering both the spatial closeness of objects to the query object and the neighboring relationship between objects, we present useful and important location-based aggregate queries on finding the HNO sets in road net-works. The location-based aggregate queries are the shortest average distance query (SAvgDQ), the shortest minimal distance query (SMinDQ), the shortest maximal distance query (SMaxDQ), and the shortest sum distance query (SSumDQ). We first utilize a grid index to manage information of data objects and road networks, and then propose the SAvgDQ, SMinDQ, SMaxDQ, and SSumDQ processing algorithms, which are combined with the grid index to efficiently process the four types of location-based aggregate queries, respectively. A comprehensive set of experiments is conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed processing algorithms using real road network datasets.","PeriodicalId":50177,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Information Science and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87157775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These challenges are more profound for international students who leave their home country to come to the host country in pursuit of higher studies. The purpose of the present study is to explore such challenges that hindered the adjustment of six Indian international students studying in a US university, using the phenomenological methodology. The data analysis generated five themes related to the challenges encountered: (1) living away from family and friends, (2) difficulty in expressing, (3) multitasking, (4) difficulty in fitting in, and (5) lack of positive attitude. Findings have implications for US universities. Higher educational institutions can play an essential role in addressing the challenges to facilitate a positive academic experience for international students.","PeriodicalId":50177,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Information Science and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42549019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Taking into account perceived enjoyment, anxiety, and self-efficacy in using smartboard, the study extended the original UTAUT model. It assessed the effects of these three main factors on the teachers' behavioural intention to use smartboard. The study evaluated computer training-invariant of the causal structure of the hypothesized model. The data were collected from a self-reported questionnaire administered to 150 female mathematics teachers in the Saudi intermediate public schools in Riyadh. The results of structural equation modeling supported the adequacy of the hypothesized interrelationships. Taking into an account, this study intends to assess the level and examine the influences between conscientiousness and motivator factors among TVET teachers. For these purposes, the researcher employed the post-positivist paradigm with cross-sectional survey approaches and collected information via a questionnaire from 302 TVET teachers under different clusters. Then, the information was analyzed via descriptive and inferential (e.g. correlation and regression analysis) statistics, and further discussed the obtained results by incorporating the social capital theory. This study explored the high conscientiousness and moderate level of motivator factors, and positive correlation between them among teachers. Furthermore, the increment in conscientiousness contributes to enhance the motivator factors and vice versa. The boosting of conscientiousness and motivator factors collaboratively increased the work performances and finally increases the academic achievements of the school.","PeriodicalId":50177,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Information Science and Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.1,"publicationDate":"2020-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45099205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"计算机科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
