The demonetisation of 2016 led to more hardship and pain than fulfilment of the reasons stated above. This was because the Indian economy is largely an informal unorganised sector where most of the daily wage earners are paid in cash. The demonetisation of 2023 has been better handled as there is enough time for exchange of ₹2000 notes, and the RBI had stopped printing these notes sometime ago.","PeriodicalId":500023,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and economic research","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135843772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The surge in market values, with the NASDAQ and S&P increasing by 136% and 103% respectively from March 2020 to December 2021, created opportunities for previously unknown penny stocks to rise dramatically in value. This surge also led to the emergence of \"gurus\" and personalities in the social media market, attracting new and inexperienced investors. While these gurus appeared knowledgeable and successful due to their timely entry into the market and the overall bullish sentiment, their success was largely fueled by the market's euphoria rather than accurate predictions of undervalued stocks. Companies like Open door, Lemonade, Tilray, Peloton, and Tesla experienced significant value declines after the market sentiment shifted to fear, panic, and doubt in the summer of 2021, accompanied by increasing inflation, tightening interest rates, and geopolitical turmoil. The downfall of these influencers revealed the fallacy in their valuation models and predictions, as investors realized that their reasons for stock increases were not based on actual market drivers. However, it is important to note that these influencers were driven by naivete rather than ill-intent or malevolence. Their impact on the investing community was significant, fueling retail participation and bringing about unprecedented moments in the market. The subsequent bear market in 2022 served as a valuable lesson for many investors, emphasizing the importance of self-belief, due diligence, and the influence of fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) on rational thinking and valuations.","PeriodicalId":500023,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and economic research","volume":"130 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135843424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of this study is to forecast the number of inbound international students from India’s main source countries to ascertain prospects. This study employs an auto-regressive model analysis of the 2011-2021 UNESCO.UIS international student mobility (ISM) dataset involving four South Asian international student source countries to forecast the values from 2022 to 2027 and determine the trend. The results reveal that Nepal will continue its ascendency and stature as the main source for international students in India, followed by Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Bhutan. Traditionally dominated by fortune 500 corporations and their shareholders, the stock market was perceived as an exclusive playground for the wealthy. Individual retail traders, on the other hand, were often stigmatised as \"dumb money,\" engaging in sketchy money-related activities. However, the post-Covid era witnessed a remarkable surge in retail trading volume, a shift attributed to user-friendly brokerage services, a risk-taking younger demographic, and an array of external factors such as stock price fluctuations, government lockdowns, and changes in monetary policies. This surge in retail trading marked the beginning of a revolution that has forever changed Wall Street dynamics. This journal delves into the factors contributing to this paradigm shift, the subsequent rise of \"meme stocks,\" and the profound impact of post-Covid retail traders on the stock market and the broader financial landscape.","PeriodicalId":500023,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and economic research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135844113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
