On the other hand, economic development is a multi-dimensional concept with average life expectancy as the most popular measure. As per economists, economic growth might lead to economic development but not always. This paper sets out to find the exact level of correlation by using the two variables- average life expectancy and GDP per capita. This is done through the analyzation for the data over 5 years of 20 countries out of which 10 are LEDCs and 10 are MEDCs, situated globally. Simple methods such as mean, and standard deviation as well as complex methods including box-and-whisker graphs and Pearson’s product-moment correlation are used. This paper accordingly tests various hypotheses and uses the analyzed data to be able to prove if they are correct or not. Suggestions of future methods to improve the conduction of a study as such on a wider scale are also expressed.","PeriodicalId":500023,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and economic research","volume":"12 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141844802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over the years, the MDM scheme has become a benchmark for public policies, evolving from traditional and religious charity practices of serving food to people experiencing poverty into a focused implementation of an education policy with a multiplier effect on nutrition care, education, and sustainable development. This study employs a comprehensive review of existing literature, including government reports and publications, newspaper articles, journals, magazines, and editorials, to evaluate the various leadership and institutional roles in the development of the MDM scheme. The analysis concludes that the success of the MDM scheme is driven by passionate initiatives taken by public leaders and institutions, including religious organizations, NGOs, Panchayats/Municipalities, Parliament, the Supreme Court, and elected leaders at various levels, from Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers to local government officials and bureaucrats. The study emphasizes that the effectiveness of any public policy is directly proportional to the involvement and initiatives of public leaders from diverse backgrounds. The findings highlight the critical role of strategic vision, commitment, and collaboration in driving large-scale social initiatives, ultimately contributing to the betterment of millions of children across India.","PeriodicalId":500023,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and economic research","volume":"26 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141847511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in recent years, the region’s once-flourishing oral culture has been sidelined by imperialism, modernization, and the dominance of print and tangible archives. Despite this, some tribes have managed to preserve their oral archives and continue to sustain the process of knowledge transfer through the spoken word. This paper delves into examples of such communities and argues that they challenge several Western premises while exercising agency over their own epistemic material. Additionally, the paper highlights the need to decolonize archival efforts in the digital age and suggests ways in which scholars can ensure that a tribe's knowledge systems are appropriately showcased, shared, and represented.","PeriodicalId":500023,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and economic research","volume":"24 53","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141846074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Established after a prolonged battle against colonial rule, they were initially designed as peoplebased forest management institutions. However, their effectiveness has been undermined by increasing centralization and near-complete subordination to the forest department. This paper examines the transition of Van Panchayats, particularly following the introduction of the Joint Forest Management Program, and compares it with the provisions of the Forest Rights Act, 2006. The excessive bureaucratization imposed by successive regulations has rendered Van Panchayats ineffective. It argues that Van Panchayats remain underutilised despite their potential to contribute significantly to conservation and development activities. To realise their potential, a comprehensive policy shift is necessary. This includes restoration of functional autonomy to Van Panchayats, reduced interference of the forest department, and adequate budgetary provisions. The paper advocates for the revival of Van Panchayats as a means to achieve a people based model of forest conservation and sustainable development.","PeriodicalId":500023,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and economic research","volume":"23 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141848018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated Operational Stress and Psychological Well-being among Police Officers in Benue State Police Command: The Mediating Role of Coping Strategies. The study employed a Cross-Sectional Survey Design, where three hundred and fifty seven (357) Police Officers consisting of 219 (61.3%) Males and 134 (37.5%) Females were used for the study. Their ages ranged from 19 to 59 years with the Mean of 38.13 (SD=9.54128). The Operational Police Stress Questionnaire (PSQ-Op), Brief-COPE Inventory and Psychological General Well-Being Index (PGWB) were used for data collection. Statistical analysis involved the use of Multiple Regression and PROCESS Mediation Analyses. Findings from the hypotheses indicated that, Operational Stress has made an independent significant contribution to Psychological Wellbeing of Police Officers in Benue State Police Command. Coping Strategies significantly influenced Psychological Well-being among Police Officers in Benue State Police Command. The result further showed that, Operational Stress and Coping Strategies jointly influenced Psychological Well-being of Police Officers in Benue State Police Command. Finally, Selfdistraction, Denial, Active Coping, Substance Use, Instrumental Support, Venting, Planning, Acceptance and Religion did not significantly mediate the relationship between Operational Stress and Psychological Well-being among Police Officers; while Emotional Support, Behavioral Disengagement, Positive Reframing, Humor, and Self-blame significantly mediated the relationship between Operational Stress and Psychological Well-being among Police Officers in Benue State Police Command. Based on the findings, it was recommended that, Police Officers should be enlightened on how to manage Operational Stress and develop good coping strategies. On policy basis, it was recommended that, Government should evolve policies that are aimed at training and retraining Police Officers on appropriate Coping Strategies; which will help in reducing Operational Stress and on the other hand increase high level of Psychological Well-being among Police Officers. Also, Non-governmental organizations with caring mind should support Police with logistics that will help reduce Operational Stress. This will help to achieve high state of Psychological Well-being and enhance better policing among Police Officers. Finally, more researches should be encouraged on the subject matter for further identification of long term solutions to problems affecting Psychological Well-being of Police Officers in Benue State Police Command in particular, and Nigeria at large.","PeriodicalId":500023,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and economic research","volume":"2010 32","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141851722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
