Refugees, facing initial economic challenges, are compared to economic migrants. By analyzing the refugee history all over the world, focusing on refugee research in Denmark, the study reviews and employs Regression Discontinuity Design to assess the connection between language training and labor market integration. Analyzing data from several individuals and linked children, results highlight positive effects on earnings and employment, particularly in the long term. The study demonstrates that investing in language skills benefits refugees economically. In a concise summary, this research underscores the complex relationship between global immigration, economic dynamics, and policy implications.","PeriodicalId":499878,"journal":{"name":"Open Journal of Business and Management","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136304503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The notion of high-performing teams in organizational contexts needs to be re-examined and reinterpreted beyond the team building, developmental and training strategies. Complexity issues such as organizational cultural and political realities impact teams and teamwork effectiveness or lack of it. The qualitative methodology integrates ODC methodologies in examining the challenges and opportunities experienced in facilitating change related to tasks and roles required in the diagnosis and implementation of team intervention. The case study of team intervention in a business school depicted capacity improvements in team building and training outcomes which demonstrated its success. However, the organizational cultural and political factors remained the team’s challenge. Since these complexities were not solved the team eventually collapsed.","PeriodicalId":499878,"journal":{"name":"Open Journal of Business and Management","volume":"15 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135360327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It examines common issues such as limited budgets, employee resistance, and difficult measuring impact. To address budget constraints, the paper proposes clearly communicating return on investment from training. To overcome resistance, training needs to be designed as practical and relevant. Various metrics for evaluating impact and return on investment are also discussed. The paper concludes that adopting a strategic approach targeting the root causes of these challenges can maximize the effectiveness of training in developing employee skills and improving organizational performance.","PeriodicalId":499878,"journal":{"name":"Open Journal of Business and Management","volume":"280 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135749039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The KZ index was used to measure financial constraint, and gender diversity and independence of the audit committee were adopted as determinants of effectiveness of the board and audit. Using data extracted from the annual reports of all the 87 listed non-financial firms in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), the analysis was done by running the descriptive statistics, correlation and regression. The results of the analysis show that gender diversity has negative and significant effect on financial constraint, while audit committee independence although has negative association, but is not significant in mitigating financial constraint of non-financial firms in Nigeria. This study therefore concludes that gender diversity helps save firms from financial constraint problem, while independence of the audit committee does not mitigate financial constraint of firms in Nigeria. These simply imply that that while high gender diversity on the boards of directors reduces financial constraint of firms, independence of the audit committee does not mitigate financial constraint situation of firms in Nigeria. It was however recommended that firm should ensure more gender diversity as it helps unveil more access to finances, reduces information asymmetry, minimizes agency conflicts, and aids transparent financial reporting and control, thereby improving access to finance.","PeriodicalId":499878,"journal":{"name":"Open Journal of Business and Management","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135649355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Empirical Evidence from Text Analysis","authors":"Shu Chen","doi":"10.4236/ojbm.2023.115140","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4236/ojbm.2023.115140","url":null,"abstract":"The deep integration of the digital economy with the real economy is a crucial pathway to achieving high-quality development in the new era. Based on the data of listed companies in China from 2012 to 2021, this paper uses the OLS regression model to empirically study how digital technology drives the total factor productivity of enterprises. The research results show that the enhancement of digital technology can significantly increase the total factor productivity of enterprises. At the same time, this paper selects enterprise innovation ability, cost and human capital structure as mediating variables to conduct mechanism tests to verify the specific path of digital technology affecting enterprise total factor productivity. Through group regression for heterogeneity research, this paper finds that the promotion effect of digital technology on enterprise total factor productivity is more obvious in non- high-tech industry enterprises and state-owned enterprises. Finally, this paper also conducts a robustness test by replacing the independent and dependent variables to prove the robustness of the above conclusions. This study provides micro evidence for the promotion effect of digital technology on enterprise efficiency, which is of great significance for enhancing total factor productivity and achieving high-quality economic development.","PeriodicalId":499878,"journal":{"name":"Open Journal of Business and Management","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135750942","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was conducted by interviewing entrepreneurs in the study group to identify key factors affecting their business survival, reviewing the literature to support the creation of research conceptual framework and questions, taking a random sample from small businesses that could maintain their businesses, and using a synthesized questionnaire for quantitative research to examine the causal factors influencing existence of small business entrepreneurs under the COVID-19 pandemic. The population and sample of this study included 115 small businesses selling food and consumer products. According to the results of this study, the mean of people-oriented management and technology-oriented management was 3.72 and 3.71, respectively, while the organizational asset had the highest mean of 3.73 and the firm retention had a low mean of 3.53. From these means, it can be concluded that the business administration during the COVID-19 pandemic must consider technology-oriented management and people-oriented management to strengthen organizational asset and support firm retention and stability.","PeriodicalId":499878,"journal":{"name":"Open Journal of Business and Management","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135798317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, many entities still need to prepare. In response, some communities have utilized voluntary accreditation programs such as the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) to assess their ability to respond to disasters. In contrast, others have relied on internal resources. Given the concurrent implementation of evidence-based practices (EBP), Ramifications of this change still need to be considered, despite the need for existing research on rubrics for control decisions within community corrections agencies. For example, individuals who perceived a high control ratio span in a typical community corrections environment would challenge implementing a practical EBP approach. Furthermore, public entities have been charged with assessing their readiness and identifying strengths and areas of weakness as a requirement for receiving federal funding and Homeland Security grants. Policy and practical implications are discussed.","PeriodicalId":499878,"journal":{"name":"Open Journal of Business and Management","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135508050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the perspective of culture, this paper introduces four variables: family hierarchy order, marriage intention, fertility intention and house purchase intention, and constructs a structural equation model to explore the mechanism of Confucian culture’s influence on Chinese residents’ willingness to allocate household assets. The study finds that these factors have a significant impact on the asset allocation preferences of Chinese households, with the presence of mediating effects. In addition, based on the research findings, we proposed some policy recommendations to help scholars, policymakers and financial institutions actively optimize the structure of household financial asset allocation in China.","PeriodicalId":499878,"journal":{"name":"Open Journal of Business and Management","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135594674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
