This study aimed to identify the type of infant feeding practiced during the first six months of age and determine if there is an association between demographic characteristics and the type of breastfeeding. A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted on 401 primipara mothers who attended 15 primary health care centers (PHCCs)by using a self-administered questionnaire. Only 17.2% of infants were exclusively breastfed, and 65.8% were given mixed feeding in the first six months of life. The breastfeeding rate declined from 99.8% in the first month to 76.3% by six months, with a corresponding increase in the use of formula milk, plain water and dates from 31.7%, 24.9%, and 24.7% in the first month to 53.1%. 49.1%, and 32.7% in the six months, respectively. Mothers also used herbs, lump sugar, glucose water and honey every month. A chi-square test reveals no association between the demographic characteristics and type of breastfeeding (EBF, predominant breastfeeding and mixed feeding). The primipara mothers had low EBF rates indicating the need to provide culture-specific education, support and counselling.","PeriodicalId":498237,"journal":{"name":"Saudi journal of nursing and health care","volume":"9 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141378512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the context of professional education, all these learning activities are based on two interacting poles, namely, learning in an academic situation (simulation) and clinical learning, which means alongside the patient (patient). The primary goal of our study is to understand the daily experience of finalist nursing learners regarding support during clinical internships by supervisors. Method: This study is qualitative phenomenological. She used the phenomenological survey method, the free face-to-face and individual interview technique, with the aim of allowing the interviewee to express all their thoughts. And also made use of the interview guide, the recording device, papers and pens as data collection instruments. Results: After analysis, the results show that the learners have an unpleasant experience of support during clinical internship. And for this, they propose as strategies the appropriate training of supervisors on support, supervision of supervisors, awareness of the supervision task and the development of expected skills. Conclusion: In view of these results, we suggest that the nursing science section look into the supervision of the scientific staff assigned to support learners in clinical internships.","PeriodicalId":498237,"journal":{"name":"Saudi journal of nursing and health care","volume":" 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140385096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among these, diabetes affects more than half a million people in Belgium, one in five of whom is over 65 years old. This study aims to understand the opinions of patients suffering from diabetes on the difficulties of their care during the covid19 pandemic. Methods: This is a qualifying phenomenological study, it is exploratory descriptive. It falls within the field of public health. The target population consisted of patients suffering from diabetes and who receive care either on an outpatient basis or in hospitalization at the diabetology department of the General Provincial Reference Hospital of Kinshasa, the number of which is nine diabetics. She used the phenomenological inquiry method and the face-to-face semi-structured interview technique. Results: After analyzing the collected data, we found the following results: diabetics were treated by home care, by telephone contact following the instructions of the diabetologist, but also by self-care. The difficulties encountered by diabetics are linked to the freedom to freely engage in physical exercises and other activities and those to contact with the healthcare team; and these difficulties encountered have generated a psychological discomfort. In terms of expectations, diabetics want caregivers to grant them a certain framework of freedom and to computerize the care system (telemedicine or telenursing). Conclusion: Considering these results, we strongly suggest that all health facilities that care for diabetics implement telemedicine and/or telenursing in the care of diabetics during periods such as the pandemic.","PeriodicalId":498237,"journal":{"name":"Saudi journal of nursing and health care","volume":" 28","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140386102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Throughout the world, this subject is the subject of numerous studies which emphasize the need to treat pain and evaluate practices. However, despite the progress made in the understanding of pain mechanisms, analgesic techniques, and the multiple recommendations made by learned societies in many countries, Post-Operative Pain is insufficiently addressed. The objective of our work was to evaluate the practices of anesthesiologists in the field of postoperative pain management in two health institutions in the city province of Kinshasa which are the Saint Joseph Hospital of Limeté and the Ngaliema Clinic. Method: The population of our study consisted of 23 anesthesiologists, 14 of whom were the subject of our occasional sample. To collect the data, we used the survey method supported by the techniques of direct observation, interviews and documentary analysis. At the end of our survey, the data was processed using descriptive analysis by calculating percentages and the average. Results: Regarding socio-demographic characteristics, the majority of subjects surveyed were male at level A1 (graduate, equivalent of bacc+3) and with professional experience of 10 years or more. Concerning the management of Post-Operative Pain, 48.5% provided the actual management of Post-Operative Pain; 17.1% provided pre-anesthetic information. Overall, the management of postoperative pain was achieved at 32.8%. Conclusion: Referring to our acceptability threshold set at 80%, we can affirm that the management of Postoperative Pain is not provided satisfactorily by the anesthesiologists of the two hospital institutions selected for the study.","PeriodicalId":498237,"journal":{"name":"Saudi journal of nursing and health care","volume":"12 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140080986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A physiotherapist, pharmacologist play a no less important role, and psychological support for both the patient himself and his family can be equally helpful, which can positively influence the treatment process. A significant problem in the care of patients with HF are repeated hospitalizations, which can result from the progression of the disease itself, but also from suboptimal therapy, comorbidities or noncompliance. As each hospitalization worsens the patient's prognosis, but just as importantly, generates high costs, outpatient care options involving different groups of medical personnel are being sought to improve the prognosis and quality of life of HF patients, but also reduce the cost of care. Currently, 90% of the budget for HF care is consumed by hospitalizations. This article aims to show how the competencies and tasks of a nurse can be used in the care and education of a patient with HF. The role of the nurse in the outpatient care of patients with HF is emphasized by the guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology, resulting in the creation of the Education and Certification Program for Heart Failure Nurses in Poland under the auspices of the Polish Cardiac Society, the Heart Failure Association, the Supreme Chamber of Nurses and Midwives.","PeriodicalId":498237,"journal":{"name":"Saudi journal of nursing and health care","volume":"51 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139957183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As such, it is vital that the hospital environments hosting these students pay the utmost attention to how these placements are carried out. This study explored our respondents' perceptions of the quality of teaching supervision during their clinical placements at the Bandundu general referral hospital (HGR). We opted for a qualitative, case study approach. Data were collected from individual, semi-structured, face-to-face interviews with 9 third-year graduate students. The aim of these interviews was to gather information based on the students' previous experiences of their placements. Materials and Method: The analysis method used for this research was content analysis, also known as thematic content analysis. The data were analysed using ATLAS.ti7 software. A main theme was identified for this study. Three sub-themes emerged from this central theme: students' perceptions of their needs in terms of teaching support, their perceptions of the teaching strategies used by the support staff, and their perceptions of the quality of the training provided by the support staff in the field. Results: With regard to teaching support needs, it is important to emphasise the lack of prior and intermediate assessment, the inadequacy of care materials, the excessive number of trainees, the lack of support for assessment, the failure to comply with placement objectives and the lack of autonomy, all of which appear to hinder students' learning progress in the clinical environment. With regard to teaching strategies, it is interesting to note that the methods of education, training and advice were more frequently mentioned than those of confrontation. With regard to the quality of training, the majority of participants judged supervision at the placement to be satisfactory. Conclusion: Although the majority of students were satisfied with the quality of the supervision they received at their placement, the results suggest the need for innovation in current approaches to clinical teaching in order to foster student autonomy and enable them to develop essential skills.","PeriodicalId":498237,"journal":{"name":"Saudi journal of nursing and health care","volume":"98 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140433479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of this review paper is to give a thorough summary of the clinical presentation, diagnostic criteria, aetiology, epidemiology, and treatment options for PCOS. Between 5% and 20% of women in reproductive age worldwide are estimated to have PCOS. This syndrome is widely known for being complicated, involving both environmental factors and genetic predisposition. Common clinical symptoms include irregular menstruation, hyperandrogenism, and an ultrasound that reveals polycystic ovarian morphology. Although there are other sets of diagnostic criteria, including the National Institutes of Health standards and the Rotterdam criteria, a precise diagnosis is still necessary. Those with PCOS are more likely to develop metabolic problems such as obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. An elevated risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and infertility are among the long-term health consequences. The primary objectives of therapeutic interventions, which are tailored to the patient's presentation and goals and involve both lifestyle modifications and pharmacological therapies, are improvements in hormonal imbalances, metabolic abnormalities, and reproductive outcomes.
