This study employed a longitudinal design in which 200 young and middle-aged stroke survivors were investigated at 1-week pre-discharge (T0), 1 month (T1), 3 months (T2), and 6 months (T3) post-discharge. The Event-Related Rumination Inventory, Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire, and Perceived Social Support Scale were used for data collection. The results showed that intrusive rumination was positively correlated with deliberate rumination at T0 and T1, and negatively correlated with deliberate rumination at T3. Growth mixture modeling identified three classes of intrusive rumination: Stable-low, Declined, and Elevated group, and two classes of deliberate rumination: High-level and Low-level group. Furthermore, number of children or dysfunctions, type of stroke, family history of stroke, negative coping, and social support were found to predict intrusive rumination. These findings can help healthcare providers timely intervene on survivors in the Elevated and Stable-low intrusive rumination groups, and the Low-level deliberate rumination group.</p>","PeriodicalId":49730,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2023-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138804957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A prospective longitudinal cohort study was conducted in a nursing home. Participants were screened for sarcopenia, and those with a score of ≥4 points according to SARC-F questionnaire were included. Assessments were performed pre-lockdown (T1), 12 months (T2) after, and at a 15-month follow-up (T3). Functional measurements included chair stand test, handgrip, biceps brachii and quadriceps femoris strengths, appendicular skeletal mass, gait speed, Short Physical Performance Battery, and Timed Up-and-Go test. Emotional assessments included Short-Form Health Survey, Geriatric Depression Scale-Short Form, and the Mini-Mental State Examination. The analyzed sample showed a reduction in bicep strength, and other upper and lower limb strength variables showed a decreasing trend with no changes regarding muscle mass. Physical performance showed a change, specifically a deterioration in the subtest related to balance. Cognitive and emotional components were affected and quality of life was decreased. It is of paramount importance to focus on sarcopenic older adults since their characteristics can deteriorate when isolation measures are conducted.</p>","PeriodicalId":49730,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"10222883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the resource conservation theory, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between occupational stigma consciousness and psychological empowerment in nursing students' professional commitment in China. Data were collected from November 2021 to May 2022, and 1189 nursing students participated in the study. Occupational stigma consciousness, professional commitment, and psychological empowerment were assessed using a questionnaire. The path analysis indicated that occupational stigma consciousness negatively predicted professional commitment (β = -0.127, p < 0.001) and psychological empowerment (β = -0.329, p < 0.001), and psychological empowerment mediated the relationship between occupational stigma consciousness and professional commitment. In total, 577 older adults with diabetes were recruited from a teaching hospital in Taiwan. Diet and physical activity were assessed using self-rated questionnaires, including the Healthy Diet Inventory, the Mini Nutritional Assessment-Short Form, and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form. Sarcopenia was defined in accordance with the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 guidelines. In total, 51.12% of participants had either possible sarcopenia, sarcopenia, or severe sarcopenia. Participants who were female, old age, prolonged sedentary times, poor nutritional status, and lower level of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity were identified as risk factors for possible to severe sarcopenia. Older adults with diabetes and possible to severe sarcopenia had poor nutrition status and engaged in inadequate physical activity. Importantly, healthy stress management will assist patients in overcoming obstacles in their lives and enhance both the quality of life and the cancer adjustment process. This study aimed to investigate the relationships between stress, coping strategies, and quality of life among gynecologic cancer survivors and to assess the mediating effects of coping on the relationship between quality of life and stress. A series of regression models and Sobel test were conducted to investigate whether coping strategies mediated the relationship between stress and quality of life. Stress was a predictor of quality of life. Acceptance was the mediator between stress and quality of life. Tailored programs that foster coping strategies, such as the strategy of acceptance, to reduce stress and maintain quality of life in this vulnerable group need to be developed.</p>","PeriodicalId":49730,"journal":{"name":"Nursing & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.7,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49684236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve this aim, cost-effectiveness analysis performed using decision tree modeling was compared with the implementation of the fall prevention program and usual care. The primary outcome was the number of patient falls. The uncertainty in cost and effectiveness data was evaluated using one-way sensitivity analysis, best-worst-case scenario analysis, and probabilistic sensitivity analysis. According to cost-effectiveness analysis, implementation of the fall prevention program was dominantly cost-effective. As a result of the probabilistic sensitivity analysis, it was revealed that, even if willing-to-pay per-fall prevented value was 0, the probability of being cost-effective was 54.4% for the fall prevention program. Economic evaluation results showed that implementing the multicomponent fall prevention program was dominantly cost-effective in hospitalized patients.
