Are the shortcuts considered ethical for nurse practice or for members of the discipline of nursing? Apart from their routine care, the individuals in the intervention group were given a 30-45-minute motivational interview based on Pender's HPM once a week for three months. Statistically significant differences were determined between the groups in the total score of the scales and its sub-dimensions (<i>p</i> < .05). The study was conducted as one-group and pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. The data were collected using the Introductory Questionnaire, the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire (DSMQ), and the Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale-Self Report (PAIS-SR). In this paper, the author utilized the processes of Parse's (2021a) humanbecoming hermeneutic sciencing (discoursing with penetrating engaging, interpreting with quiescent beholding, and understanding with inspiring envisaging) and the leading-following model to further understanding of the meaning of \"working\" through Stephen Schwarz's Broadway show, <i>Working, the Musical</i> (Browning & Schwartz, 1982/2002).
