Despite proven positive effects, SARs have not been widely implemented to date. This study therefore investigated the use scenarios developed by care professionals and their assessment of their impact.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A qualitative exploratory study was conducted in three nursing care homes in Switzerland. It involved guided interviews and structured observations. The data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Moflin demonstrated its potential for use in nursing care homes. It was employed to calm, stimulate and encourage communication with residents. The fact that care staff could use it at their discretion fostered a person-centered approach and its ease of use facilitated long-term use.</p><p><strong>Discussion: </strong>The findings emphasize the importance of taking a practical, open-ended approach when evaluating SARs in long-term care. Rather than prescribing standardized usage scenarios, actively involving care staff provided valuable insights into the practical considerations of everyday use. Effective management of polypharmacy has become one of the greatest challenges in patient care. Nevertheless, there is little information on how unit-dose dispensing systems (UDDS) can be adapted for the care of geriatric patients and well-integrated into the daily routine of clinical units.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>We evaluated the acceptance rate and feasibility of unit-dose care of prescribed drugs, including perspectives of doctors and nurses in a geriatric clinic of a university hospital.</p><p><strong>Material and methods: </strong>An entire ward staff (20 nurses, 11 doctors) was surveyed on 8 topics including safety of drug treatment and handling of blistered medication packages. We employed a mixed-method design using a questionnaire with a unipolar 5‑point Likert scale.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The response rate to the survey was 74%. Most respondents (82%) agreed that unit dose delivery increases the safety of drug treatment and 77% agreed that unit dose supply reduces administration errors. The approval rate was 100% from doctors and 55% from nurses. However, most respondents (95%) did not consider dispensing of blister-packed medicines to geriatric patients to be appropriate, owing to impaired fine motor skills, cognitive deficits, dementia and delirium.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>This study found a high level of acceptance (87% of doctors and nursing staff) of unit dose dispensing systems for geriatric patients; however, unit-dose care was not considered to be universally applicable to all hospitalized patients. There are legal, technical, and psychosocial challenges as well as gaps in research and support structures.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>The study examines attitudes and precautionary behaviours regarding digital legacy among professionals and volunteers aged 50 and above in hospice and palliative care.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Quantitative and qualitative data from a nationwide online survey of 293 participants from hospice and palliative care were analysed. Descriptive statistics were performed using SPSS, while free-text responses were analysed according to Mayring's qualitative content analysis.</p><p><strong>Results and conclusion: </strong>Although the importance of digital legacies is acknowledged, concrete precautionary actions are rarely taken. Varied attitudes and needs indicate a demand for accessible, practice-oriented information and counselling services. This observation led to the conclusion that a higher protein intake may contribute to a preservation of function and to the prevention of sarcopenia. Therefore, the German Nutrition Society increased their recommendation for daily protein intake in adults aged ≥ 65 years from 0.8 to 1.0 g/kg body weight (estimated value); however, current data indicate that a higher protein intake has no beneficial effect on muscle mass or muscle strength in healthy older adults. Yet, in patients with sarcopenia a beneficial effect on muscle health can be assumed for an increase in protein intake when combined with resistance exercise, while the evidence for an increase in protein intake alone is less convincing. Being bedridden is a significant issue for those affected as it carries considerable physical, psychological and social risks and has far-reaching consequences for a person's ability to participate.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>Whether and to what extent can spatial sociology concepts be used and applied to demonstrate the effects on the participation of bedridden people in residential care facilities and what contribution can they make in this context?</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>The basic assumptions of the sociology of space and Martina Löw's specific concept of spatial sociology are briefly introduced. The fundamental understanding of social spaces as products of a practice of arranging people and things according to structures is used to analyze practices that promote or hinder participation. In this context, a concept of participation is outlined that defines participatory opportunities as the relationship between the capacity to arrange elements into sociospatial configurations and the risk of being merely arranged by others. This analytical framework is then be tested by applying it to two case studies drawn from an observational study on the design of social interactions in nursing homes. Finally, an initial reflection is offered on whether and how spatial sociology can contribute to enhancing the participation of bedridden individuals.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Applying a spatial-sociological perspective to questions of participation in bedriddenness raises awareness of the consequences of placing people in relation to one another and to the objects in their surroundings. The arrangement of residents in relation to and among other \"care-related objects\" creates a relational space with specific possibilities for perception and interaction. Residents' freedom of action within these functional arrangements is limited. A multitude of very different factors can make grocery shopping, meal preparation and adequate nutrition difficult in old age or increase the requirements of energy and nutrients. The resulting nutritional deficiency is associated with functional limitations in the long term and increases the risk of falls, morbidity and complications in the course of the disease. Effective interventions for prevention and treatment are available, from eliminating the underlying causes to supportive measures and parenteral nutrition. The current state of knowledge in this area is summarized in evidence-based, up to date national and international guidelines. A descriptive and statistical evaluation was carried out.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>A total of 282 people participated in the survey. The majority considered heat protection to be important. Heat protection measures are implemented to varying degrees. The need for support is seen particularly in the financing of technical and construction measures.</p><p><strong>Discussion: </strong>The implementation of heat protection measures depends on the available options and resources.
