The question then was whether American branches could be effectively grafted on a Soviet tree planted in a Chinese garden (Pepper, S. 1990. China's Education Reform. Berkeley). We will try to demonstrate that in 2023 that China succeeded in implanting Western HE successfully in its education system. Why so many Chinese students study in the United States. In 2003 only 57,717 HE international students studied in China. During the 2020-21 school year, 317,299 Chinese nationals enrolled in US institutions, represented about a third of all international students studying in the USA. For these Chinese students—mostly in maths, computer science and engineering—the most important was to get an “American degree” (SCMP 15.11.2022). An important question in 2021-2022 is the worst recession since the Great Depression caused by the pandemic Covid-19 which perturbated also education and the number of Chinese students studying in America. Chinese students in the US, in particular, found themselves vulnerable. The USA, Australia, and the UK are the most popular destinations, receiving 33 percent of China’s HE international students. In the first six months of 2022, the US issued 31,055 F-1 visas to Chinese nationals, down from 64,261 for the same period in 2019, consequently the number of Chinese HE students going abroad is at present falling sharply. A main reason is China’s economy which appears to slow down in 2022.","PeriodicalId":485546,"journal":{"name":"The education review, USA","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136100204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among them, immersive English teaching is the most representative. Immersive English teaching advocates changing the monotonous atmosphere in the original classroom, using appropriate methods to cultivate students' interest in learning, improve students' enthusiasm for English learning, and improve learning efficiency. However, as a relatively independent individual college student, every-one has different ideas and ideas, they have different learning attitudes towards themselves, and they also have different learning methods, so how to achieve individual differences? This has become a key research topic for teachers. The current research systematically reviewed the theoretical development of finiteness and listed the representative ideas of Chinese finiteness from the perspective of generative, cognitive and functional approaches. The analysis of Chinese finite and non-finite verbs has the characteristics that it develops with the linguistic theories, whereas neglects the unique features of Chinese itself. As an isolating language, Chinese lacks inflectional morphology and tense, so it relies heavily on semantics, pragmatics, information structure, and discourse. Based on the conventional division between morphology and syntax, it is difficult to determine with clarity whether or not finiteness exists in Chinese, even though many researchers have addressed this question. Though some lin-guists have noticed the importance of explaining finiteness from semantic perspective, a more systematic interpretation is in need in the future studies in this field.","PeriodicalId":485546,"journal":{"name":"The education review, USA","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136100549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
