Intergenerational caregivers offer various forms of autonomy support to nurture children's development, especially when parents migrate to industrialized areas for work. To understand such support, primary caregivers, including 21 parents and 24 grandparents from families with various migration trends, were recruited from a southwest rural village with a high migration flow. All caregivers participated in interviews about their developmental ideals for children and how they help children meet these expectations. All caregivers defined the developmental ideals as Zili (self-reliance), Qinkuai (diligence) when completing chores, Zijue (self-awareness) in learning, and social and reflective skills while putting self-directed effort into learning. Emphasis on educational attainment for future independence, expanding intellectual horizons, and imparting moral knowledge supported children's psychological autonomy. Welcoming children's personal preferences and granting children the necessary space to manage their time-ideals apparent in industrialized societies-were also evident. Action autonomy support included using chores to train action, expecting behavioral self-reliance, and forming relevant habits as early in the life cycle as practical. When comparing two generations, most grandparents emphasized children's effort in learning, whereas parents stressed children's prosocial behaviors, sibling roles, and commitment to expanding intellectual horizons. All caregivers from families experiencing long-term parental migration put more emphasis on children's academic self-awareness and effort, fulfilling children's preferences, and teaching moral judgment compared to short-term and nonmigrant families. Childrearing goals reflected adaptive responses to children's expression of autonomy and intergenerational support regardless of migration status. While much research explored the neurodevelopmental antecedents of emotion dysregulation in ADHD, little is known about how parents can help regulate children with ADHD in daily life. In this study, we examined parental interpersonal emotion regulation (IER) strategies during a conflict discussion with their child and their impact on the child's emotion dysregulation during the interaction. Fifty-eight two-parent mother and father Israeli families of children diagnosed with ADHD (M = 9.37, 70% males) completed diagnostic assessment and symptom severity questionnaires and participated in a triadic conflict discussion. Parental IER strategies were coded into nonsupportive, emotion-focused, and solution-focused strategies. The child's emotion dysregulation was evaluated before the conflict discussion using the Child Behavior Checklist Dysregulation profile and during the conflict discussion using pitch analysis of the child's vocal response. Results indicated that mothers made more IER attempts than fathers. Emotion- and solution-focused strategies significantly contributed to children's reduced emotion dysregulation during the interaction. Parental supportive IER strategies moderated the relationship between the child's reported and momentary emotion dysregulation. The results emphasize the significance of both paternal and maternal IER for children with ADHD, highlighting the imperative to incorporate parental IER strategies in interventions aimed at supporting children with ADHD. Three distinct patterns of family dynamics were identified using dyadic latent profile analysis: positive spillover (PS), overt negative spillover (ONS), and covert negative spillover (CNS). In PS families, mothers and fathers perceived higher interparental quality, less hostile and disengaged interparental conflict strategies, and more positive parenting behaviors. ONS families, in contrast, exhibited poor interparental relationships and greater use of corporal punishment in parent-child relationships. CNS families adopted fewer hostile strategies but more disengaged strategies in marriage and more corporal punishment in parenting than average. Children from PS families had the most prosocial behaviors and least internalizing and externalizing problems, whereas children from ONS families had the least prosocial behaviors and most internalizing and externalizing problems. Although parents of CNS families reported their children exhibited moderate levels of internalizing and externalizing problems, children themselves reported more anxiety problems than children from ONS families and the ones from PS families. These findings showed three different forms of \"spillover effect\" between interparental relationships and parenting, which had discrepant implications for children's psychological adjustment. In addition to parents, grandparents are also important family members and play a critical role in child development. Many studies have explored the associations between grandparental care and child self-control, especially in the Chinese context. However, the existing findings are inconsistent. To take stock of the literature, this study aimed to synthesize the associations between the quantity (defined as the extent to which grandparents are involved in child rearing) and quality (defined as the quality of grandparenting behavior and coparenting relationships between grandparents and parents) of grandparental care and Chinese children's self-control. Twenty-two studies with 75 effect sizes were included (N = 30,822). Regarding the quantity of grandparental care, the more grandparents were involved in child rearing, the poorer self-control the child had (Hedge's g = -0.376, p = .002). As for the quality of grandparental care, positive grandparenting behavior was linked to children's better self-control at a marginal significance level (r = .426, p = .079). Positive coparenting relationships between grandparents and parents were significantly linked to children's better self-control (r = .220, p < .001). These findings are largely invariant across child gender, child age, study design, and the quality of article. Theoretically, this study broadens our understanding of the ecological underpinnings of child self-control. Practically, the findings underscore the importance of improving grandparents' positive rearing behavior and forging harmonious coparenting relationships between grandparents and parents to nurture Chinese children's self-control. The present study aims to investigate the potential mediating role of family emotional expressiveness in the association between parental emotion dysregulation and externalizing problems among Chinese preschoolers and to further examine whether this mediation depends on parental endorsement of the cultural value of Chinese familism. A survey study was conducted to examine the moderated mediation model. A total of 161 parents of preschoolers (aged 3-5 years, M = 4.24, SD = 0.60 at T1) participated in all three waves of assessment. The results showed that parental emotion dysregulation indirectly predicted preschoolers' externalizing problems through family negative expressiveness for parents with low endorsement of familism, whereas the mediating effect was not significant for parents with high endorsement of familism. In the article, analyses involving the anger variable were originally excluded because the α reliability of the scale was unacceptably low. However, it was discovered that the measure contained errors, making the scale invalid. As a result, Footnote 2, cited in the second paragraph of the Measures section, was changed to read \"We preregistered to test changes in drug use via the ASI (McLellan et al., 1980) and in anger via the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory-2, Trait Anger Subscale (Spielberger, 2010). However, the internal reliability for ASI drug use was unacceptably low (α = .42), and we discovered that there were errors in the anger scale, causing it to be invalid. The cause of poor reliability for drug use is likely due to floor effects, as most responses were nil, and the preintervention mean was .014 on a 0-1 scale. As we could not be confident in the measurement of these constructs, results regarding the treatment effect on anger and drug use are excluded. The α for ASI alcohol misuse (.62) was also suboptimal, but, unlike drug use, was not low enough to warrant exclusion from reported results as a preregistered outcome.\" (The following abstract of the original article appeared in record 2022-41008-001.) Grounded in interdisciplinary theories in family and media studies, the primary aim of this study was to identify and describe unique patterns of parent-adolescent communication using parent reports of communication. Further, we considered whether parent-adolescent closeness was associated with parent-adolescent communication patterns. Participants were 404 dyads; one parent (Mage = 43.37; 61.9% female) and one adolescent (Mage = 15.32; 48.3% female) from the same family. Latent profile analysis supported a four-profile model of parent-adolescent communication. Profiles were characterized by communication frequency and preferred method of communication (i.e., in-person, phone calls, texts, video calls) across reasons for communicating (i.e., receive or offer advice and recommendations, emotional support, keep up-to-date, make plans). Demographic differences by parent race and marital status were found across different parent-adolescent communication profiles. Additionally, parent-adolescent communication profiles were associated with significantly different levels of parent reports of perceived closeness. Findings highlighting parents' perspectives on communication are essential to understanding how communication technologies can foster connections in parent-adolescent relationships. The lack of attention to cultural and contextual factors in HNE research has overlooked diversity in families' experiences. Researchers have begun to inquire about a more inclusive perspective of the HNE. Given the importance of the HNE and that Latine children are the fastest growing population in the United States, there is a need to develop culturally and contextualized measures to properly capture the ways Latine families engage in mathematics. Building upon a prior mixed-method measurement development work, this study examined the construct validity of a newly developed measure, HNE for Latine families, with a sample of 320 Latine caregivers. The three dimensions found in the prior development study were confirmed: caregiver-child numeracy interactions, math anxiety, and math beliefs. Additionally, some of the Latine family engagement dimensions in relation to mathematics were related to Latine caregiver's rating of the child's numeracy skills. This study validates a measure that comprises more inclusive items related to how Latine caregivers interact with their children, as well as how they feel and their beliefs about mathematics. This type of study is crucial to support culturally responsive practices with Latine families and thereby disrupt deficit views of Latine families.
