We extend this work by considering the durable legacy of sundown towns - an understudied package of legal and conventional practices restricting the mobility of Black communities. We argue that the racialized organization of public space that was produced via sundown practices is expressed today in racialized engagement with public space and test this using cell phone location data describing public park use across Missouri. Here, we find that racial disparities in park visitation are excebrated in former sundown town areas - with already disparate park vistiation rates between majority Black and majoirty White communities widening significantly when the destination park is within the bounds of a former sundown area. It offers critical reflections on the UK’s “new bespokism” (Tomlinson 2023) through the lens of the “Homes for Ukraine” scheme (HfU), a hosting scheme for Ukrainians fleeing their country after Russia’s 2022 invasion. The scheme has created new geographies of support in a period of increasing economic inequality and bordering. HfU is one way the state organises racialised, classed, and gendered “hierarchies of belonging” [Back, Les, and Shamser Sinha. 2018. Migrant City, Routledge Advances in Ethnography. London, NY: Routledge, Taylor and Francis Group], adding further layers of complexity, fractioning, and inequalities to the already stratified landscape of the UK’s immigration statuses. HfU may appear as the friendly face of the UK’s “brutal migration milieu” [Hall, Suzanne M. 2017. “Mooring “Super-Diversity” to a Brutal Migration Milieu.” Ethnic and Racial Studies 40 (9): 1562–1573. https://doi.org/10.1080/01419870.2017.1300296], but it contains its own contradictions in its exclusionary remit. A policy gap is created where children are unable to be returned with caregivers if citizenship is deprived. Adoption of a case-by-case approach rather than coherent policy response to repatriation prolongs children’s detainment within insecure camps. Using a critical race lens, I advance theoretical understanding of spatio-temporal logics of (in)securitisation within the context of counter-terrorism policies affecting British children in NES camps through convergence of violent conflict, citizenship deprivation, and state failure to repatriate. In 2003, 12 Asian migrant-origin states formed the Colombo Process to address these labor concerns. This article examines and contrasts two major emigrant-origin states' - India and Bangladesh -behavior in the Colombo Process, a regional consultative process, and other multilateral migration governance fora, focusing on the social construction of skills. Both countries inherited a colonial legal system of emigration regulation which distinguished emigrants into \"high-\" and \"low-skill\" categories, which India continues to reproduce, while Bangladesh aims to reformulate their categorization. This article investigates the how, where, and when of the countries' emigrant categorization processes by tracing the categories' origins, their reproduction, and reformulation.
