Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a long-term and most common microvascular complication of DM and is the leading cause of visual impairment in productive segments of the population. The large diabetic population and increased incidence of DR has become a significant burden on the healthcare sector in India. Patient education plays an important role in managing DM and preventing complications like DR. In the present study, a quasi-experimental, one-group pre-test-post-test design was used to assess the effectiveness of the structured teaching program on knowledge regarding prevention of DR in diabetics. A non-probability purposive sampling technique was used to select 50 diabetic patients admitted to the hospital. Data was collected from participants using an interview schedule prepared by the investigator. STP was administered on the same day. On the seventh day, the post-test was conducted using the same structured interview schedule. The mean knowledge score of the subjects in the post- test (40.94 ± 3.61) has increased significantly (t= 42.06, p<0.05) when compared to the pre- test knowledge score (15.16 ± 6.61). The data shows that the structured teaching programme is effective in increasing the knowledge score of the subjects, with the maximum enhancement being in the area of eye check-up. Nurses should place health in the hands of the patient, especially for diabetic clients as they are in need of long-term care. The teaching program developed by the investigator can be used by the nurses to educate diabetic clients on prevention of diabetic retinopathy.","PeriodicalId":479950,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Nursing Management","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135022120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, time and place barriers are eliminated, and institutions and educators have understood that online education may benefit students with course accessibility and affordability. Besides, this model offered an ideal channel for engagement and communication between students, as well as with instructors and the long-available program content, on the other hand, many challenges and obstacles have emerged. Objective(s): Evaluate the online nursing education system in Iraqi universities by detecting any potential challenges of nursing students with online education. Methodology: This paper is the main part of a nationwide study. A descriptive evaluative approach is conducted to evaluate the current challenges of nursing students about online nursing education through web-based courses, programs, online examinations, and quizzes, through the period from September 10, 2020, to April 15, 2021. This study is carried out at eight Colleges of Nursing in Iraqi Universities, a sample of (320) undergraduate nursing students is recruited from these colleges using the non-probability sampling approach to gather a convenient sample. A self-report questionnaire is developed from the literature, for the evaluation process. Results: The findings indicate that all Colleges of Nursing in Iraq have experienced current challenges with online nursing education, but Colleges of Nursing in the Southern Region experienced fewer challenges than colleges in other regions. Conclusion: The study concluded that most of the students have experienced fair to poor levels of current challenges of online nursing education in Iraq respectively. There are differences between Colleges of Nursing relative to current challenges of online nursing education domains, and these challenges are influenced by students’ demographic characteristics of age, gender, monthly income, and residential area. Recommendations: For the benefit of colleges, professors, and students, this study suggests that the deployment of online nursing education should be closely supervised. Furthermore, both instructors and students should be provided with logistical support.","PeriodicalId":479950,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Nursing Management","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135022124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A good posture is important because it helps us stand, walk, sit, and lie in positions that place the least strain on supporting muscles and ligaments during movement and weight-bearing activities. This study was aimed to assess the postural habits and to find its association with socio-personal variables among students studying in selected schools of Ernakulam district, Kerala. A quantitative descriptive analytical design was undertaken for the study. Data was collected from school children by using structured questionnaire. The content validity of the tool was established by experts and the samples consisted of 250 school children who satisfied the inclusion criteria and were selected by using convenience sampling technique. The objectives of the study were to assess the postural habits among school children by a structured questionnaire, to find the association between postural habits and socio-personal variables among school children and to find the correlation between postural habits with height and weight. The selected data was tabulated and analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings showed that 9.2% had good postural habits, 66% had fair postural habits and 24.8% had bad postural habits. The results also showed that about 23 students from rural area had good postural habits whereas none of the students from urban area had good postural habits. Almost 152 students from rural area maintained average postural habits and 13 students from urban area had the same. About 47 students from rural area and 15 from urban area had bad postural habits. It concludes that there is a significant association between postural habits and place of residence.","PeriodicalId":479950,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advances in Nursing Management","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135022406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
