This research aims to: (1) describe the implementation of Adiwiyata program activities; (2) describe the environmental literacy skills; (3) describe the environmental care attitude; and (4) identify the factors that support or impede the implementation of adiwiyata program at a private elementary school in Bogor Regency. The qualitative descriptive study was done at a provincial-level Adiwiyata school from September 2021 to January 2022, employing qualitative descriptive methodologies. Written tests containing questions and questionnaires, interviews with instructors and students, observations, and documentation were utilized to disseminate data collection techniques. The assessment of environmental literacy is based on three indicators: (1) ecological knowledge, (2) environmental affection, and (3) behaviors. According to the findings of this study, this elementary school employs eco-friendly practices in order to attain Adiwiyata. The results of this study indicate that each indicator received a score of 75, 39.15, and 19.6 for the favorable category. The attitude of concern for the environment received a score of 76.42 in the category of excellence. These results are influenced by (1) quality environmental education, (2) student participation in environmental activities, and (3) student environmental knowledge. There are obstacles to the implementation of Adiwiyata, such as a lack of interest from school residents, an uneven distribution of environmental care, and the expense of carrying out activities. This study's findings will serve as an evaluation tool for the school's efforts to maximize Adiwiyata activities.","PeriodicalId":476198,"journal":{"name":"Al-Ishlah","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135470308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research was conducted to see how far the role of Pancasila values as part of the Citizenship Education subject, apart from being a national ideology, is also a nation's view of life that can shape the nation’s character in students at school. This research used a qualitative and quantitative approach with a population of 21 high schools in Purwakarta with a sample of 5 schools as a sample. From this research, it was found that the Pancasila values contained in the first to the fifth precepts in the Civics Education subject are expected to be a guide for students in everyday life, both inside the classroom and outside the classroom, in the family, in the community, even in the life of the nation and state. As agents of social change, students must still be able to see the meaning of Pancasila's position as the basic foundation, which is the core of Civics learning, so that Pancasila's values can still be a guide in people's lives Pancasila and able to shape the character of the nation.","PeriodicalId":476198,"journal":{"name":"Al-Ishlah","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135470309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Learning is made easier by educators and school infrastructure. Every student's potential is still being maximized through ongoing design improvements in the teaching and learning process. This research investigates the effectiveness of the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) model on the students' speaking skills. The research employs true experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design, which gives a test before and after the treatment using the SAVI model. The sample of this study is two classes, namely class VA as the experimental class, totaling 30 students, and class VB as the control class, totaling 34 students. The data collection techniques used in this study are observation, test, and documentation, which are analyzed with descriptive statistics. The data is analyzed using the inferential test formula (t-test). The results showed that the SAVI model was effectively used in learning students' speaking skills. It can be seen from the results of the hypothesis, namely the value of t_count 2.47 and 2.00 so that the results are accepted and rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a positive impact of the SAVI learning model on students' speaking skills. The teacher can apply this model in teaching the students whose grades are below the class average so that this method can be used in learning students' speaking skills in Indonesian subjects.","PeriodicalId":476198,"journal":{"name":"Al-Ishlah","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135587215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study implemented a qualitative approach as a research design. Three English teachers as participants were recruited purposively. The data collected from textbook analysis using the types of speech acts, and politeness strategies through the theory of Critical Discourse Analysis. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to strengthen the data. Then, the data were analyzed thematically. The study revealed that local English textbooks effectively represented cultural values and beliefs. The finding showed that the EFL local textbooks effectually encourage cultural awareness and English language proficiency among students. The cultural values performed in the textbook are greetings, politeness, self-introduction, hobbies, and family interactions, which exhibit the polite culture of how Indonesians communicate. The representation of family lunch highlighted the tradition that shapes Indonesian culture. Additionally, it implied that the teachers perceived the content in the textbook because it highlights moral values that are suitable in Indonesian culture. It has a significant implication for establishing English curricula to construct a proper local English textbook for Islamic junior high school students. This study demonstrated that local English textbooks included interesting and collaborative activities that highlighted Islamic traditions, fostering tolerance and respect. It also highlighted moral and cultural values that students could use to develop good manners.","PeriodicalId":476198,"journal":{"name":"Al-Ishlah","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135926600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
