Compared with research using traditional linear models, this research adopts the fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method to obtain the multiple equivalent paths for different factors that jointly produce TSC. The sample of this study involves 32 countries, and the research framework is constructed from the technological, organizational, and environmental aspects of the phenomenon. The fsQCA method was used to demonstrate the asymmetric relationship between cause and effect. The results indicate four configuration paths but no necessary conditions leading to TSC. Academic research intensity and market size play vital roles in developing TSC. Some logically complementary relationships exist between organizational participation, technological innovation ability, and international competitive pressure. These findings are helpful for policymakers in their formulation of artificial intelligence– related strategies.","PeriodicalId":47594,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Economics and Management","volume":"14 4‐6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135392492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A full managerial comprehension of the connection between supply chain integration (SCI) and business performance is missing so far and earlier results are inconclusive. To fill this gap, this study expands the growing body of research on SCI and contributes to the SCM field by explaining the direct and indirect effects of internal enablers on internal integration and business performance. Results show that hierarchical organizational culture influences internal integration and supply chain performance, that top management support and information technology department size influence internal integration, and, finally, that supply chain performance impacts operational performance. These findings confirm the relevance for firms to pay attention to those key internal enablers of internal integration, and their benefits on business performance. Considering our results, future research should deepen on the influence of internal integration on business performance by focusing on the links between internal integration and the other dimensions of SCI, that is supplier and customer integration, as well as with the external side of the supply chain performance.","PeriodicalId":47594,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Economics and Management","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135884275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of cultural dimensions on loyalty to online stores. It is based on a systematic analysis of 10 core databases that included 3,557 articles published between 2000 and 2020. Using PRISMA steps, 116 articles, totalling around 56,000 respondents from 25 different countries across all continents, are included in the meta-analysis. The results extend theoretical knowledge by showing that uncertainty avoidance harms customer loyalty, while masculinity has a positive impact. Additionally, it is found that loyalty is lower in countries with a low level of long-term orientation and higher in countries with a high level of power distance or a low level of indulgence. Lastly, individualism has no impact on the level of loyalty. Theoretical and managerial implications are also presented.","PeriodicalId":47594,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Economics and Management","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135344753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The methodological approaches utilized are quantile regression and wavelet analysis. The results of quantile regression suggested that Google Search Volume (GSV) and Twitter-based Market Uncertainty Index (TMU) negatively influenced the equity indices at lower quantiles. The wavelet coherence analysis highlighted that, at lower frequency bands, GSV moves in sync with the S&P 500, NASDAQ Composite, Dow Jones Industrials, and FTSE 100 but not with the DAX, CAC 40, TOPIX, Nikkei 225, or MSCI. Nonetheless, when the TMU was used to measure investors’ sentiment, the results revealed that the whole series was out of phase.","PeriodicalId":47594,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Economics and Management","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135344881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the main decision maker of firm, manager has an important impact on the digital transformation of enterprises that cannot be ignored. Based on the perspective of managerial heterogeneity, we tested the impact of managerial ability on the digital transformation of enterprises in China context. The results showed that managerial ability has a significant positive impact on the digital transformation of enterprises, that is, the stronger the managerial ability, the higher digitalization of firm. The mechanism study confirmed that managerial ability can overcome strategic inertia and improve capital allocation efficiency, then promote digital transformation of firm. Further research showed that the younger the top management team, the more significant the positive effect is; Independent directors can provide resources and play a consulting role to promote the impact of managerial ability on the digital transformation of firm; The older the firm is, the stronger the organizational inertia is, which can impede the impact of managerial ability on the digital transformation of firm. Recently, machine learning algorithms play a significant role in predicting different processes. This research aims to apply several machine learning algorithms to predict high frequent daily hotel occupancy at a Chinese hotel. Five machine learning models (bagged CART, bagged MARS, XGBoost, random forest, SVM) were optimized and applied for predicting occupancy. All models are compared using different model accuracy measures and with an ARDL model chosen as a benchmark for comparison. It was found that the bagged CART model showed the most relevant results (R2 > 0.50) in all periods, but the model could not beat the traditional ARDL model. Thus, despite the original use of machine learning algorithms in solving regression tasks, the models used in this research could have been more effective than the benchmark model. In addition, the variables’ importance was used to check the hypothesis that the Baidu search index and its components can be used in machine learning models to predict hotel occupancy.","PeriodicalId":47594,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Economics and Management","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135386381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By analysing bitcoin, ripple, and ethereum daily data we establish evidence of strong dependencies among analysed cryptocurrencies. This paper provides new insights about cryptocurrency behaviour and the main measures of risk and detailed comparative analysis with tech-stocks. Comprehensive research on stylized facts confirmed high risk for both cryptocurrencies and tech-stocks with cryptocurrencies being even riskier. Empirical research findings are useful in developing dependence and risk strategies for investment and hedging purposes, especially during more volatile periods in the markets as there was confirmed existence of volatility clusters when high volatility periods are followed by low volatility periods. Sensitivity analysis and measures of Value-at-Risk (VaR) and Expected Shortfall (ES) show the amount of losses investors can expect in the worst case scenario. Our results confirm the existence of predictability, volatility clustering, and possibilities for arbitrage opportunities. Findings could be beneficial for investors and policymakers as well as for scientific purposes as findings give us a better understanding of the behaviour of cryptocurrencies.","PeriodicalId":47594,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Economics and Management","volume":"41 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.6,"publicationDate":"2023-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87569971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sustainability approach adds social and environmental effects to the economic ones. Even though there have been studies on the different facets of the sustainable banking and its dimensions, it is important to discuss the integration of the sustainability concept with banking efficiency and financial performance measures. The objective of this research is to identify the prevailing indicators of sustainable banking in the presence of considerations on bank financial performance and efficiency. Such indicators can be used in multiple frameworks directed towards specific goals. Therefore, this paper also discusses the notions of the sustainable banking alongside the used methods used to handle the sustainability indicators. Thus, this paper presents the comprehensive review of sustainable banking linked to financial performance and efficiency, where indicators, and methods are analyzed in an integrated manner.","PeriodicalId":47594,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business Economics and Management","volume":"32 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":2.6,"publicationDate":"2023-09-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90495613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
